Show Runtimes Announced for Wondrous Journeys & World of Color – One at Disneyland
Two new nighttime shows are coming to the Disneyland Resort next year for the Disney100 celebration. The show runtimes have been announced for Wondrous Journeys and World of Color – One. Both shows will debut on January 27, 2023, as part of the 100 Years of Wonder celebration.
Walt’s original magic kingdom will become a magnificent canvas with “Wondrous Journeys,” a new nighttime spectacular that will ignite the wonder in all of us. It will feature nods to every Walt Disney Animation Studios film to date, taking us on a journey filled with artistry, music, storytelling and heart. It will continue to build upon the park’s state-of-the-art projection effects, turning Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, the façade of “it’s a small world” and the Rivers of America into an artist’s canvas that brings characters to life all around you. On select nights, “Wondrous Journeys” will go even bigger with the addition of sparkling fireworks in the sky above Disneyland. This spectacular will also feature an incredible new song, “It’s Wondrous.”
The nighttime spectacular will be 13 minutes long and Baymax is rumored to be the character that flies over Sleeping Beauty Castle.
“World of Color – One” at Disney California Adventure park will celebrate the storytelling legacy started by Walt Disney a century ago. It will tell a new story of how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. It brings some of the most courageous, loving and inspiring characters to life in new ways. The show will also feature a new original song, “Start a Wave.”
This nighttime show will be approximately 23-24 minutes long. That’s a few minutes shorter than the regular version of “World of Color” which is 25-26 minutes.
Are you looking forward to experiencing these new nighttime spectaculars at the Disneyland Resort?

Disney Shares New Details on the Animal Kingdom Expansion
At the D23 Expo this year, Disney announced a possible Animal Kingdom Expansion. Dinoland U.S.A. will be getting a significant retheming. Some possibilities were teased but nothing specific was shared. While Walt Disney Imagineering creates and prepares whatever is coming to that area, animal caretakers prepare the animals at the park for the expansion.
CinemaBlend recently spoke with Disney’s Director of Animal and Science Operations, Dr. Scott Terrell. A theme park that houses both loud rides, as well as animals, can be complex to run. While Terrell wouldn’t share any specifics regarding the changes coming to Dinoland U.S.A., he explained that his team is involved in all new plans for the park.
“I will very much avoid that topic, but anything that happens in this park, and [The Dinoland Plans] would be no exception, my animal and science team is involved from day one, with the Imagineers, with the entertainment team… We’re just automatically at the table. It’s not like I have to even ask, my partners reach out to me and say ‘Hey, we’re starting something new, can somebody from your team be there?’”
Disney has a strong “animals first” mentality. Any time a significant change is planned, someone from the Animal and Science team is present. That helps prevent any major changes needing to be made to new attractions or entertainment after they are installed. The team already knows what will or won’t be a problem for the animals.
When Pandora – The World of Avatar was under construction, some animals were temporarily relocated. Not because of the attractions, but because of the sounds and vibrations caused by the construction.
Terrell explained, “I actually have scientists on my team that study sound levels and light levels and even, when we were building Pandora The World of Avatar, we studied seismic activity during the construction and actually moved animals away from the construction for certain periods of time to make sure they were able to thrive through that period.”
The only thing we know for sure about the Dinoland U.S.A. retheming is that the animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be well-cared for both during construction and after. One attraction in the area is already gone but there is no timetable for when other work might begin.
Walt Disney Imagineering shared multiple concepts at D23 Expo including a Zootopia-themed land or possibly one geared toward Moana.
What do you hope will take the place of Dinoland U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?

Bernard Finally Returns to Disney’s The Santa Clauses
Fans of the Santa Clause films were extremely excited to hear that David Krumholtz would be reprising his role as Bernard the Elf in ‘The Santa Clauses‘ series on Disney+. We saw Bernard featured in the first two Santa Clausemovies, but due to scheduling conflicts with his role in CBS series Numb3rs was unable to appear in the third Santa Clause movie as Elf #1.
According to Tim Allen and members of the production team, Bernard’s absence (and aging) will be addressed in The Santa Clauses series and he will return to teach Scott an important lesson about the true meaning and role of Santa Claus.
Series creator Jack Burditt recently spoke with TVLine, sharing: “He [Bernard] is in an episode. He plays a pivotal part in teaching Scott some things that maybe he didn’t know, either about the mantle of Santa Claus or himself.” He continued, “We’re playing with this idea that Scott doesn’t… know a lot about his role as Santa Claus. He just knows how he became Santa Claus, and there is a lot of information withheld from him. Bernard unlocks a lot of that information when he comes back.”
Are you excited to see Bernard return this week’s episode of The Santa Clauses? Are you enjoying the series so far? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

It’s hard to imagine Disney’s “Frozen” without Olaf the snowman!
Jennfier Lee, the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation and the co-director of “Frozen,” confessed that the beloved character Olaf — was the first thing she wanted to slash from the 2013 project when she came on board.
Fortunately, a staff animator had worked out a three-page script treatment with Josh Gad in mind after he impressed filmmakers with a late night TV appearance. Jennifer Lee found him irresistible and agreed to keep Olaf in the script.
Jennifer Lee admitted she wanted Olaf removed from the initial production while accepting the Distinguished Storyteller Award from the Los Angeles Press Club. The award was presented to her by Josh Gad at the 15th annual Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards.
She explained that she jumped into the Frozen film project after it was already in development. She said after watching an early cut of the film, “My first note was, ‘kill the snowman.’”
I think it’s safe to say many are happy she later elected to keep Olaf in the movie franchise!
