NHL’s Big City Greens Classic Coming Soon To Disney+, Disney Channel & ESPN+
The Washington Capitals and New York Rangers are being transported from the Big Apple to Big City in the NHL Big City Greens Classic on March 14th on ESPN+, Disney XD, Disney Channel, and Disney+.
ESPN, Disney Channel and the NHL are teaming up to bring fans the “NHL Big City Greens Classic,” the first-ever live, animated NHL game telecast, featuring the Washington Capitals vs. New York Rangers, on March 14 at 7 p.m. EDT.
The alternate presentation of the Capitals-Rangers game will feature live, real-time volumetric animation of players and teams modeled after characters on Disney Branded Television’s Emmy® Award-winning animated comedy “Big City Greens.” ESPN+, Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney+ will present the live, animated telecast, while the main telecast will be available on ESPN and ESPN+.
“Working with Disney Channel and the NHL, we are producing a telecast that will reach a new and different audience and help to grow hockey fandom even more,” said Ilan Ben-Hanan, senior vice president of Programming and Acquisitions, ESPN. “‘Big City Greens’ has a huge following in a younger audience that we are excited to tap into, offering a fun and creative way to enjoy the game across Disney platforms.”
“We’ve said from day one that our partnership with The Walt Disney Company is a big win for our fans and our League,” said Dave Lehanski, NHL’s executive vice president of Business Development and Innovation. “We’ve spent years investing in a fast and accurate puck and player tracking system to help us grow the game. We’re thrilled to be partnering with the NHL and ESPN to see the Greens lace up their skates and add a generous dash of ‘Big City Greens’ comedy to what is sure to be an entertaining game,” said “Big City Greens” creators and executive producers Shane and Chris Houghton at the exact same time.
The first-of-its-kind alternate presentation will leverage NHL Edge positioning data (puck and player tracking) to recreate the action on the ice as it is happening while featuring “Big City Greens” characters skating alongside animated versions of the NHL players. The real-time animation will be produced in association with ESPN Edge Innovation Center and NHL EDGE Innovation partners Verizon, Beyond Sports and Silver Spoon.
ESPN commentators will call the action for the “NHL Big City Greens Classic,” and “Big City Greens” talent, including the Houghton brothers and Marieve Herington (the voice of Tilly), will also be featured in the presentation. More details regarding the first-of-its-kind production will be announced closer to the game.
New Permit Suggests Work is being done on Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser
Disney’s newest experience, the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser, has seen a recent decline in attendance and some future voyages have been canceled. Now, it appears some work will be done to the Star Wars hotel.
The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser officially opened on March 1, 2022. It is a 2-night immersive experience that many Star Wars fans have raved about. The price tag, however, is what keeps many from booking the experience. It’s close to $5000 for a 2-person cabin.
Now, a permit has been submitted for construction on the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. Disney’s own in-house construction company, Buena Vista Construction, is listed as the contractor. The permit is for the contractor to “provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.” No specific work is listed.
Hopefully, a change is coming that will entice more guests to experience the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser.

In the interview, he discusses how amazing it is to be at Disneyland with his wife and kids to celebrate his Super Bowl win.
He was also treated to a special parade on Monday and was able to experience Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway which just opened in Disneyland for the Disney100 Celebration.

Emma Corrin Lands Lead Role In Marvel’s Deadpool 3. With the news from Kevin Feige that Marvel’s antihero Deadpool’s newest movie will have an “R” rating, and Sir Patrick Stewert teasing a role, we have news that “The Crown” star Emma Corrin will take a leading role.
Deadline has reported “that Marvel has had its eye on Corrin going all the way back to the holidays, but working out what has become a busy schedule for the Emmy nominee had to be overcome before they could fully commit. Arrangements were settled during the past week, and Corrin is on board.”
Emma Corrin comes off the hit show “The Crown” where she plays the stunningly beautiful Lady Diana Spencer earning Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards as well SAG and Emmy nominations.
She will join Hugh Jackman who is reprising his role as Wolverine, and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. The movie is due out sometime in 2024.
Pedro Pascal Shares Details on the Challenges of Playing the Mandalorian. There are exactly two weeks before the premiere of the third season of the Disney + hit Star Wars show The Mandalorian, and the media blitz has started. The star of the show, Padro Pascal, is sharing his thoughts on Din Djarin’s Beskar suit, while it is fun, it’s also not the best costume to wear for comfort.
“It’s like putting on a head-to-toe glove with weights on it,” Pascal said. “It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expression because it puts you in the world so completely, and instantly makes the character feel real – but you can’t see shit!”
Pascal went on to note that breathing in the costume fogs up most of the visor, and the lack of peripheral vision also makes it so the crew of the show has to essentially help him navigate.

“They’ve continued to finesse and make it more comfortable, but it’s like going blind,” said Pascal. “Your breath completely fogs up the narrow slit that you can see through. There’s no peripheral vision. If there’s a hole, I’m gonna fall into it…When it’s on, you immediately feel powerful, protected, dangerous, and like a protector.”
