The Mandalorian Season 3 Premiere Reveals What Happens to Cara Dune
The following article contains Spoilers for Season 3: Episode 1 of the Mandalorian.
Season 3 of The Mandalorian arrived on Disney+ and quickly addressed Gina Carano’s character of Cara Dune within minutes of Mando’s arrival on Nevarro. You might recall that after appearing in seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian, Gina Carano was essentially fired from the show due to her controversial behaviors on social media. Carano’s release from the show left a gaping hole in the continued narrative of her character Cara Dune, who played prominent in the Star Wars universe.
So how did Jon Favreau explain the disappearance of the newly minted Marshall from Nevarro? In the season 3 premiere episode, called “Chapter 17: The Apostate,” Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) talks with Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) about the open position of Marshall. Greef informs Mando that Dune has taken a position with the special forces of the New Republic after having captured Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) back in season 2.
Lucasfilm was developing a series specifically for Cara Dune with Rangers of the New Republic before her exit from the show. Executive Producer Rick Famuyiwa told Deadline ahead of the season 3 premiere that they would address Cara Dune specifically since she was a big part of the show. He stated, “Cara was a big part and continues as a character to be part of the world. It had to be addressed in the creative and [Jon Favreau] took the time to think about that.”
So while the Cara Dune lives on, she will no longer play a role in the Mandoverse. Do you think that her character received a respectable sendoff? Would you like the see this role recast with another actor? Please let us know what you think in a comment.

Is Disney making too much Marvel & Star Wars Content?
It seems like Disney might be rethinking its content strategy regarding Marvel and Star Wars. Disney CEO Bob Iger recently said the company needs to curate extraordinarily expensive content better, saying, “We want the quality on the screen, but we have to look at what they cost us.”
This strategy marks a complete 180 for Disney and Marvel, who announced five upcoming Marvel shows on Disney+ only months ago in July. Of those five shows, only two (Loki Season 2 and Secret Invasion) are now slated for release in 2023.
Other shows that wrapped production months ago, like Hawkeye spinoff Echo will be spread out. Additional shows that are in development have slowed down their production schedules. Kevin Feige, Marvel Films CEO, echoed this new strategy in an Entertainment Weekly interview stating, The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change.”
Star Wars is facing an opposite challenge, having been absent from theaters since 2019. Patty Jenkins’ led Rogue Squadron film may never happen. Disney might announce plans at Star Wars Celebration, but no concrete projects are on the calendar yet. Taika Waititi and Damon Lindelof have their irons in the fire developing original Star Wars stories, but Disney+ is now the only place for Star Wars content. The Mandalorian Season 3 and the Mandoverse have taken over the future of Star Wars with Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew leading the way in 2023.
Disney is no longer immune to industrywide setbacks studios face trying to balance profits with rising expenditures associated with creating content for theaters and streaming services. On the animation front, Disney experienced rare misses with Pixar’s Lightyear and Disney Animation’s Strange World in 2022. Perhaps to combat these setbacks Iger announced sequels to known commodities Frozen, Moana, and Toy Story for the future.
Most of all, that shift in focus will be felt by Marvel Studios and Star Wars, who have to space out their release schedules and develop higher-quality content that draws audiences to Disney+ and back to theaters as we emerge from the pandemic. What do you think of this shift in strategy from Bob Iger and Disney? Let us know your thoughts on the state of the MCU and Star Wars Universe in a comment.
Purple Martins Start Their Families at Walt Disney World
Disney is well known for its conservation efforts. One of these efforts is providing homes for Purple Martins. Keep an eye out for these interesting white structures across Walt Disney World Resort!
There are more than 20 strategically placed towers with 24 nest compartments for the Purple Martins from EPCOT to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and beyond. Dr. Mark Penning shared all about these birds and their homes at Disney World on Instagram:
“Have you noticed these interesting white structures across Walt Disney World Resort? They’re bird houses for purple martins!
We have more than 20 strategically placed towers with 24 nest compartments for our purple feathered friends, from EPCOT to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and beyond. Every spring, this migratory species travels over 3,000 miles from Brazil to build their nests and start their families at the most magical place on earth! ✨ 🐣
Thanks to innovative research using GPS technology, Disney Conservation Team Wildlife knows these birds prefer bird houses to nests. This year, a tower was moved to our Team Disney office building. Adding a new location makes it even easier for purple martins to hatch chicks before flying south again for the winter.”
Next time you visit Disney World, be on the lookout for these bird houses and see if you can spot a Purple Martin or two!

Pathways for Moana’s Journey of Water are Almost Complete. Why write an article about pathways being almost complete? The simple answer is people who may need mobility scooters or wheelchairs to get around their daily lives know the difficulty of having to wheel across bumpy and uneven surfaces, uneven surfaces make walking with a cane, scooter, or wheelchair much more difficult.
Walt Disney World is exceptional when it comes to accessibility and a strength of the resort is accommodating guests with special needs whenever possible. This brings us to the new walkways almost being finished at Journey of Water inspired by Moana. It looks like the majority of the walkways will be smooth, with one exception, the front entrance to Disney’s newest attraction.
Without it being totally finished we do not fully know if this area will remain rocky and be difficult for those with mobility issues, or use canes. Right now it does appear that the front area may be rough. Although we do not think it looks too bad, it will be up to the guests themselves to decide. Furthermore, it is not actually finished, and we will know better very soon. we will update you when we see it completed.
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana – Opening Late 2023. Explore the wonders of water along an interactive trail that’s fun for all ages—based on the Disney animated film Moana.
Where Water Comes to Life
Stroll along a self-guided outdoor trail where you can play and interact with water as it travels from the sky to the oceans and back again. Along the way, learn about the importance of water and discover its playful personality—just as Moana did on her heroic voyage.
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is scheduled to open within World Nature—the EPCOT neighborhood dedicated to understanding and preserving the beauty and balance of the natural world.
Disney Building New Ride Share Loop in EPCOT Parking Lot. Recently Disney renamed all the parking lots in the Epcot area, repaved sections, fixed the disability parking areas, and is doing construction near the Cast member parking area.
Now Disney has added more construction to the parking area. Looks like Disney is adding a ride-share loop, for guests’ pick-up and drop-off. The section is next to the Hei Hei parking lot next to the bus loop.
The pick-up and drop-off ride-share area will make it easier for people to park in the handicapped spaces in the Hei Hei section. This will also add a little further walk for those taking Uber or Lyft. We do not know how this will affect the Minnie Van service, which drops off people at the bus loop now.
Guests pay one fee for a parking pass that is good all day at all 4 theme parks—Magic Kingdom park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Our special preferred parking lots are located conveniently close to the theme park entrances. All parking fees include applicable sales tax.
Preferred parking: car or motorcycle – $45 to $50 per day*
Standard parking: car or motorcycle – $25 per day
Oversized Vehicle Parking: Shuttle, Limo, Camper Trailer, RV, Bus or Tractor Trailer – $30 per day
Standard theme park parking is included for registered Guests of Disney Resort hotels and select Annual Passholders. These Guests can also choose to enjoy preferred parking by paying the difference in cost between their included standard parking and preferred parking (difference is currently $20 to $25 per day*).
