Disney Parks recently announced the addition, noting that Prospect is already settling in and making himself at home. Guests embarking on Kilimanjaro Safaris should keep a close watch on the painted dog enclosure, as they may be able to spot him exploring his new habitat.

This exciting arrival follows World Painted Dog Day, which took place on August 26. In celebration, the Disney Conservation Fund highlighted its more than two decades of support for Painted Dog Conservation, a group focused on protecting the species and its environment in Zimbabwe. This conservation effort is critical, as African painted dogs are classified as endangered. Currently, experts estimate that fewer than 7,000 remain in the wild across sub-Saharan Africa.

Prospect is not the only notable animal to arrive at the park this summer. Bakari, a 21-year-old western lowland gorilla, recently made his public debut as the new silverback troop leader along the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.
