As cooler weather, pumpkin-spiced treats, and festive decorations become part of the day-to-day experience at Walt Disney World, guests tend to take more time to leisurely stroll around the resort. This makes the timing for opening the new walkway and bridge between the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and the Magic Kingdom ideal! We have been monitoring the construction progress on the walkway and pedestrian bridges for several months and are excited to see that it is nearing completion.
If you have ever walked the path connecting the Contemporary Resort and the Magic Kingdom, then you know how convenient and enjoyable it can be. Especially when the weather is pleasant! That stroll takes you past Space Mountain and under the monorail directly to the main entrance of the park. Demand for the same type of thoroughfare between the Grand Floridian and the Magic Kingdom has persisted for a while and it looks like our wish will soon be granted!
On our latest trip to the Magic Kingdom, we noticed that most of the construction and landscaping have been finalized. Most of the dirt has been paved and the construction vehicles are moving out. A bright new sidewalk and two shiny bridges hug the coast of Seven Seas Lagoon with new trees, shrubbery, and light poles dotting the pathway on either side. All of this can be seen from the monorail as you look out towards the resort.
While we enjoy all modes of transportation around the resort, we also really appreciate a nice scenic walk. That’s why we are thrilled to have the option to go between the Grand Floridian and the Magic Kingdom on foot in the near future. We will be among the first to traverse the new walkway and report back on the experience!
