Disney Files Electrical Permit for Future Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza at Hollywood Studios
Work continues to cook along in the future Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and a newly filed permit is giving us another peek behind the construction walls. Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a permit for electrical work at the former PizzeRizzo building, which Disney has now confirmed will become Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza when Monstropolis begins opening to guests in 2027.

The permit lists audiovisual company Solotech for the work and expires in one year. While the filing itself does not spell out exactly what is being installed, the involvement of Walt Disney Imagineering and an audiovisual contractor could point to work involving lighting, sound, show elements, or other electrical systems inside the reimagined restaurant. Construction has already been visible around the former PizzeRizzo location as Muppets Courtyard transforms into the monster-filled streets of Monstropolis.
Disney officially pulled back the curtain on Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza during its D23 announcements on August 16. The quick-service location will serve what Disney calls the top-rated pizza in Monstropolis and takes its name from Archie, Fear Tech’s six-legged mascot from Monsters University. Right next door, guests will also be able to explore the Monsters University Alumni Club.

Archie’s is just one piece of a much larger Monstropolis dining and entertainment lineup. Harryhausen’s will bring the memorable restaurant from Monsters, Inc. to life with an Audio-Animatronics sushi chef, while the Glob Theater will host “Welcome to Monstropolis,” a new show starring Mike and Sulley. Disney says portions of the land will begin welcoming humans in 2027 as construction continues on the massive door coaster.
