Construction on Monstropolis continues to reshape the former Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and new aerial photos from bioreconstruct are giving us one of the clearest looks yet at how the new land is coming together. Crews are currently working across the future city, with major progress visible around the entrance, central courtyard, and remodeled building façades.

Four tall concrete columns are now in place near the entrance to Monstropolis, replacing an earlier set that was installed and later demolished. Nearby, the former MuppetVision 3D theater continues its transformation into The Glob, where the new “Welcome to Monstropolis! With Sulley & Mike” stage show will be presented. The brick clock tower has already been repainted, while the surrounding area remains packed with scaffolding and construction equipment.
One of the biggest new developments is beneath the future courtyard fountain, where crews have installed a large network of plumbing and utility lines. Additional work is also taking shape along Dark Avenue, the main street that will lead guests toward the massive Monsters, Inc. factory and suspended door coaster. New overhangs, ledges, rooflines, and monster-inspired architectural details are helping transform the former Muppets buildings into the quirky city seen in the Pixar films.

Most of Monstropolis is expected to open in 2027, with the suspended door coaster following in a later phase. The land will also include Harryhausen’s, Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, the Monsters University Alumni Club, and the Scareporium.
