The lands at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom all stand out in one way or another to the point where people can pinpoint them usually by one central attraction. There are even those lands with two or three main attractions which people will always remember and run to. But there is one land in particular that is very small, quite quaint, and doesn’t even have the word “land” in its title: Liberty Square.

Liberty Square rests quietly between Fantasyland and Frontierland with a side entrance from Main Street U.S.A. There are only three attractions, three restaurants, and a small handful of shops.

It is easy to not pay full attention to Liberty Square unless you know about the one main attraction that is its focal point, but that will come in a bit. A lot of guests often forget about the Hall of Presidents which is essentially a learning attraction that takes viewers through a bit of American History. From the first President of the United States of America George Washington, all the way up to Barack Obama. They’re all here and waiting to see you, and no that’s not just from movie screen to seat but audio-animatronic to guest.

Looking to sail along the Rivers of America without doing all the work? The Liberty Square Riverboat is as efficient as it is beautiful with its three decks allowing guests to view some of the wonders of the “Disney” World and Tom Sawyer’s Island too.

Last but not least is my favorite attraction in not just Magic Kingdom, but all of Walt Disney World – Haunted Mansion. 999 happy haunts are waiting for you to join them in the ride I love so much that I got the wallpaper from inside tattooed on my back. So many guests think it is a mere ride that allows you to see some ghosts and get a small scare while “Grim Grinnin’ Ghosts” blares in many different forms. But it is so much more than that as it tells an incredible story from the moment you enter the archways until you exit back out of them past the pet cemetery.

Boys and girls, this is the one attraction that almost seems out of place in Magic Kingdom, but it fits in like you wouldn’t believe. The story told is first-class and even the changes made to my beloved Haunted Mansion don’t deter a purist like me. Not a trip goes by where it isn’t the attraction I ride the most. Don’t miss a single moment of it and pay attention to everything around you in the Haunted Mansion because there’s no turning back now.

Believe it or not, Liberty Square has a very good selection of dining choices starting with the Columbia Harbor House if you’re looking to get some of the best chicken and fish around. Trust me, you won’t be able to miss it for once they start cooking that fish, the smell will lure you in every time. Liberty Tree Tavern is close by as well for those looking for a much heartier and bigger meal that will seem like you’re having something worthy of Thanksgiving dinner any time of year.

Make sure to not bypass Sleepy Hollow though as you may end up missing it as it will be on your right-hand side immediately upon entering Liberty Square from Main Street. It has a wide array of snacks and drinks but the fresh chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich is what you’ll really be after.

If you’re looking to get a bit of colonial shopping done then Heritage House, Yankee Trader, and Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe are the places for you. Souvenirs that showcase small-town old America while continuing to have that Disney touch to them as well.

Oh, and be sure to find the time to your silhouette portrait done at the Liberty Square Portrait Gallery. That is of course if you have any money left after exiting Haunted Mansion and visiting the cart with merchandise devoted to the ride itself.

Yes, Liberty Square may not seem like it has a whole lot to offer guests of the Magic Kingdom and many people think it is just a walkway from Fantasyland to Frontierland or vice versa. But there is so much to do there and you may find yourself entering Liberty Square and not leaving for a few hours due to the fun, the chills, and even the relaxation of finding an open rocking chair at the country store. It’s a great place to spend a part of your day and who knows…you may be the 1,000 ghost they have room for.
