The next classic Disney film getting the live-action movie treatment is the classic Peter Pan. It’ll be some time before we see the movie in theaters since it’s looking like the film crew will start production in 2021.
The live action movie is a remake of the 1953 animated film Peter Pan, based on the novel by J.M. Barrie about an immortal child who carries the three Darling children away to an adventure on the fantasy island of Neverland. To date, the Disney animated movie remains the most successful version of the children’s story ever translated to film.
The Peter Pan movie is quickly shaping up to be the next big hit for Disney’s live action films. Actor Jude Law is in talks to join the cast as the villainous Captain Hook. Also, we shared news back in March that Ever Anderson and Alexander Molony are on board to play Wendy & Peter.
Director David Lowery has signed on to direct the Disney Live-Action film. Lowery co-wrote the script with Toby Halbrooks, and Jim Whitaker is producing. Halbrooks’ only feature film screenwriting credit comes from his work with Lowery on Disney’s Live-Action Pete’s Dragon.
We’ll provide further details when more information becomes available about the movie’s production.
