Chris Hemsworth Shares A Special Video of Thor Singing Johnny Cash’s “Hurt“. Between takes while filming Avengers: Endgame, Chris Hemsworth filmed his own rendition of “Thor” singing Hurt, by Johnny Cash.

The Avenger’s Star recently shared a previously unknown video via social media and while visiting with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The video was captured while Chris was waiting in his trailer between takes for the soon-to-be highest grossing film of all time, Avengers: Endgame and previously could not be shared due to the strict rules about “No Camera’s!” on set for Marvel films.

It should be noted, almost every single actor and actress in the films has broken this rule at least once, but most tend to keep to the “No Spoiler!” policy established by Marvel Studios and they simply wait to release the footage and photos at an acceptable time after their new film is released.

One such example, is this clever video that Chris Hemsworth shared to his verified Twitter account, @chrishemsworth of him performing Hurt, by Johnny Cash as Thor in one of the deepest moments of the character’s depression.

Though some fans are under the impression Thor’s depression has been used as a “cheap joke” by the studio in Avengers: Endgame, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, it showed just how “human” Thor is as an individual, in case your forgot, he is The God of Thunder.

His apparent quick decent into depression was a stark contrast from his usual demeanor and behavior, which garnished at least a chuckle from most audiences, but fans seem to forget there was a 5-year gap between Thor disposing of Thanos and when The Avengers went to find Thor in New Asguard.

There is much to be learned about how depression affects people, particularly over a long period of time, and Thor showed many obvious signs for the disorder including: binge eating/drinking, anxiety attacks, obsession over video games, using humor as a defense mechanism, running away from his problems (sometimes quite literally), playing/listening to depressing music, excessive sleeping, insomnia, reclusiveness, lack of proper hygiene, and the most notable, weight gain.

His journey has been difficult with loss of his friends, family, and a loss of purpose in life. One of the BEST moments of the film was when Thor lifted his arm and Mjolnir came back to him, he excitingly realized that the depression did not define him and he was STILL worthy the whole time. Thor’s arc felt real and relatable to those suffering from the mental disorder, myself included, and it made people feel even more connected to the character and less vulnerable since even a ‘god’ could get depression. Meaning it could affect literally ANYONE, but it also showed that there is hope and that life is worth living, you just have to be willing to find your purpose and see your own self worth.

You can check out the video of when Chris Hemsworth debuted the video to the world while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, as well as some other goodies, including a sneak peek of Men In Black: International,  starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok).
