Guests visiting Frontierland today found the longtime snack stand shuttered, with its operating hours removed from My Disney Experience and its page disappearing from the Walt Disney World website. Disney has not issued an official announcement regarding the closure, following the same approach used when neighboring Big Al’s permanently closed earlier this year. Signs now direct guests to a nearby popcorn cart that has been positioned alongside the former refreshment stand.

Westward Ho was known for offering quick snacks and treats, including fan-favorite items like the Candied Bacon Skewer. While some offerings have found homes elsewhere in the park, the closure marks the end of another classic Frontierland location that had served guests for years. With both Westward Ho and Big Al’s now closed, the only remaining snack kiosk identified in earlier construction permits is the Frontierland Churro Cart, which continues operating for now.

The closure comes as construction ramps up for the upcoming Piston Peak National Park expansion. Crews continue making visible progress on the future Cars-themed area, with retaining walls, foundation work, and land grading now stretching across the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island footprint. Disney first announced Piston Peak during the 2024 D23 Expo, revealing plans for a rally race attraction and a family-friendly ride inspired by Pixar’s Cars franchise.

As Frontierland continues its transformation, longtime fans may be sad to see another familiar landmark disappear. Still, it’s clear Disney is making room for one of the most ambitious expansions in Magic Kingdom history. While the future of the Westward Ho site itself remains unknown, the changes signal that construction on Piston Peak is moving full speed ahead.
