Tom Fitzgerald Retires from Walt Disney Imagineering After 47 Years
After nearly five decades of helping shape Disney stories and attractions, longtime Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald has officially retired from Walt Disney Imagineering.

Fitzgerald, who served as Chief Storytelling Executive and Senior Creative Executive, celebrated the milestone during a retirement party held at Walt Disney Imagineering. The event featured a stage decorated with the classic WED Enterprises logo and the message, “Tom Fitzgerald: A Celebration 47 Years in the Making.” Winnie the Pooh, Kermit the Frog, and Miss Piggy also joined the celebration through both in-person and digital appearances.

Fitzgerald began his Disney career in January 1979, back when Walt Disney Imagineering was still known as WED Enterprises. Over the years, he helped bring countless Disney stories to life, including Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, the 2006 update to Pirates of the Caribbean, and the upcoming Soarin’ Across America. His work has left a lasting mark on Disney Parks and on generations of guests who experienced the attractions he helped create.
