The Mandalorian's Dave Filoni Teases Another 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' Character For Season 2

The Mandalorian‘s Dave Filoni Teases Another ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ Character For Season 2. Star Wars fans were elated to hear Ahsoka Tano will be making her first live-action appearance in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, but it appears Ahsoka will not be the only The Clone Wars character to appear in the mega-popular Star Wars series.

Star Wars fan James Baney shared The Mandalorian show runner Dave Filoni’s updated twitter banner featuring Ahsoka and her old friend from the animated series, Captain Rex.

Captain Rex, formally listed as CT-7567, was a loyal stormtrooper who served under Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano during The Clone Wars. “[Rex] is described as a reliable and exemplary soldier, considered by Anakin to be his “first-in-command”. Rex is characterized as believing it his duty to not only carry out orders but also to protect the men under his command, but his belief in the Republic wavers over the course of the series.”

Rex did make an appearance in fellow animated series, Star Wars: Rebels, but has not been made canon in any of the live-action Star Wars films or series… yet. There has been no official news stating Rex will be included in the new season, but it doesn’t seem like a total coincidence that Dave would share an image of the two characters together shortly after news of Ahsoka Tano appearing in The Mandalorian.
