Disney+ Reportedly Polling Subscribers About Adding Mature Content to the Streaming Service

Disney+ Reportedly Polling Subscribers About Adding Mature Content to the Streaming Service. Disney+ is reportedly polling some subscribers about streaming more PG-13 content. Though this is well within the parameters of Disney’s established rating system for the streaming service, some subscribers are a bit concerned with the content in some of the titles.

Currently, it appears Disney is polling for shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Black-ish, and Malcolm in the Middle.  I would say I am a little skeptical at the legitimacy of the image, since Malcolm in the Middle is spelled incorrectly, but we are all guilty of spelling errors now and again.

The news was share by Reddit user, u/disney04, who shared the below screenshot with the caption: “Disney+ is sending surveys to select subscribers for more adult friendly shows.”

The titles come from various sources such as Director Joss Whedon (Avengers), ABC Television, CBS, Fox, and Freeform, previously known as ABC Family. Some fans are concerned about the content within these titles including heavy usage of alcohol, depictions of intimate relationships and attire, and suggestive usage of illegal substances being featured on the family-friendly streaming service.

So what could this mean for Disney+? Likely, Disney is looking to add a feature or parental controls that would prevent little eyes from viewing inappropriate content. Another likely scenario is that fans are looking for more variety on the streaming service having viewed most of the content they deem worth watching. Either way, it also looks like Disney+ might be considering streaming content that is not directly linked to Disney, but to associated directors, producers, entertainers, and networks.

If the rumors are true we will likely hear more concrete news soon from Disney+ regarding any big changes to the service. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Disney+!
