‘The Greatest Showman’ is Coming to Disney+ This Summer!

‘The Greatest Showman’ is Coming to Disney+ This Summer! Disney has announced even more Fox Studios films will be added to the Disney+ library throughout Summer 2020. Possibly one of the most anticipated titles is the 2017 instant hit, The Greatest Showman starring: Hugh Jackman (P.T. Barnum), Michelle Williams (Charity Barnum), Zac Efron (Phillip Carlyle), Zendaya (Anne Wheeler), and Rebecca Ferguson (Jenny Lind).

“Growing up in the early 1800s, P.T. Barnum displays a natural talent for publicity and promotion, selling lottery tickets by age 12. After trying his hands at various jobs, P.T. turns to show business to indulge his limitless imagination, rising from nothing to create the Barnum & Bailey circus. Featuring catchy musical numbers, exotic performers and daring acrobatic feats, Barnum’s mesmerizing spectacle soon takes the world by storm to become the greatest show on Earth.”

The album for the film went viral going double platinum merely months after its initial release and was the greatest selling album of 2018. Featured songs from the film have even made their way to radio and broadcasting due to their raging popularity.

The Greatest Showman will begin streaming on Disney+ starting August 14, 2020.

Director Michael Gracey spoke recently with The Sun and revealed that he and Hugh Jackman were already fast at work on a sequel to The Greatest Showman, sharing, “When a movie becomes as big a success as this, it’s only natural there is demand for a sequel.” “So those discussions have started and we are working on one right now,” Gracey said. At this point, details aren’t currently known for the script or any returning actors other than Jackman. Songwriters Pasek and Paul who helped to make the first film a hit with their music, are expected to return to write the new score.
