Taika Waititi Confirms Thor: Love and Thunder Will Begin Filming in Summer 2020. The famed Thor: Ragnarok director, Taika Waititi, will be returning to the MCU to direct Thor: Love and Thunder and spoke with Variety while walking the red carpet at the BAFTA’s and shared when we can expect filming to begin on the highly anticipated sequel.

“Well, we move down to Sydney [Australia] around April, I think, maybe. And then we’ll start shooting probably around August, I think,” Waititi shared.
Variety also asked Taika if he knew anything about the fires in Australia affecting the film schedule for ‘Thor 4’ to which he replied, “I mean, I don’t know. It’s insane what’s happening down there. I just keep reading about it every day and it seems to be getting worse. It’s absolute chaos.”
Thor: Love and Thunder will see the return of Natalie Portman (Jane Foster) who will become the first MCU Lady Thor, as well as the return of Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie). Taika Waititi himself will be reprising his fan favorite role as Korg for the film. The film is slated to take place in Phase 5 of the MCU.
