Society of Explorers and Adventurers Heading to D23 Expo With Unopened Historical Mystery

Disney has announced that the mythic Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.) will feature prominently at D23 2026. Walt Disney Imagineering is teaming up with the secret society for a special interactive presence inside the Imagineering Pavilion.

The showcase will explore the rich history, lore, and interdisciplinary members of the organization while unboxing a genuine mystery live on stage for Disney fans.

The History and Lore of S.E.A.

For those unfamiliar with the deep Disney park lore, S.E.A. is a secret organization dedicated to exploration, scientific advancement, and preserving the world’s greatest unknowns. Grounded in the motto “wonder, explore, and discover,” the organization dates back to the 1500s with origins tied to Fortress Exploration.

Over the centuries, the society’s roster has grown to include famous figures referenced across Disney theme parks worldwide, including:

• Lord Henry Mystic from Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland
• Harrison Hightower III from Tower of Terror at Tokyo DisneySea
• Dr. Albert Falls from the Jungle Cruise
• Mary Oceaneer from Disney Cruise Line
• Camellia Falco from Soaring: Fantastic Flight at Tokyo DisneySea

Unboxing an Unopened Artifact Live at D23

The centerpiece of the S.E.A. presentation revolves around a recent discovery inside the society’s archives. Over the past three months, archivists cataloging historical artifacts uncovered a crate that has remained sealed for over a century.

Neither Walt Disney Imagineering nor S.E.A. knows what is inside the crate. The contents will be revealed during the live panel presentation, titled “An Inside Look at the Society of Explorers and Adventurers,” on August 14.
