New Lighting Effects Now on the Haunted Mansion. Not much changes in the Haunted Mansion. When it does it becomes very noticeable. Now, we are seeing upgrades and slight changes in the lead-up to The Hat Box Ghost coming to the Walt Disney World version of this beloved classic attraction.
Disney Imagineering has added more lighting to the graveyard scene. Specifically to the graveyard hearse scene. There is now a very red glow to the scene, and it is backlit with a few spotlights.
The Graveyard scene is one of the best parts of riding this Disney classic. With the Grim Grinning Ghosts busts singing, the caretaker and his dog, and the final opera-singing ghost and her companions the Executioner and Knight stand next to her.
Keep in mind, getting a great image of these scenes is not the easiest thing in the world, so the images are a bit blurry.
Climb aboard a gloomy Doom Buggy for a grave journey through a labyrinth of haunted chambers.
A Spirited Tour
The disembodied voice of the Ghost Host is your private guide through the cadaverous realm of an eerie haunted estate, home to ghosts, ghouls, and supernatural surprises.
Glide past a casket-filled conservatory, Madame Leota’s chilling séance room, and a ghostly graveyard of singing specters as you attempt to find your way out. Beware of hitchhikers—these phantom pranksters may follow you home.
Happy haunting!
Before Entering the Mansion
A musical crypt, a leaky tomb, and a ghostly writer are among the creepy haunts you’ll find outside the main entrance. Explore supernatural hands-on experiences—only at Walt Disney World Resort—while you await your fate inside.
Too Scary?
The Haunted Mansion is dark and contains some mildly frightening scenes, but there is no gore, the ghostly residents are friendly and the ride is slow-moving.

Fans Petition Disney to Ban Gov. Ron DeSantis from Walt Disney World. While the average guest that visits Walt Disney World has no clue what is going on between Disney and Gov. Ron DeSantis, it seems that enough people do and have started a Change.Org petition to get the Florida Gov. Trespassed from “The Most Magical Place on Earth”.
Here is Change.org at its finest, Highly partisan, and not well done.
At the end of the day, this is a multi-billion-dollar-a-year company fighting against a Gov of a State that is highly beloved among his voting base. No matter what the petition says, nothing will ever come of it. If you want things to change, just go vote.
Disney: Permanently Ban Ron DeSantis from the Happiest Place on Earth!
Ron DeSantis hates the Happiest Place on Earth. Ron DeSantis is a hater. #hater #sad
Why? The Dark Side of the Force has seduced Ron.
Roughly 58 Million people visit Disney World each year. Disney is the biggest employer in Florida. The Walt Disney Corporation employs approximately 75,000 people.
Ron wants to put a prison next to Disney World.
I love Disney Land and Disney World. My family has enjoyed several trips to Disney Parks. As we now live in Oklahoma, each trip is a commitment and quite a significant expense. I would not want to take my family to a theme park that is right next to a prison. #crazy
Fans Petition Disney to Ban Gov. Ron DeSantis from Walt Disney World
Why would a governor work so viciously to destroy one of the biggest, most beloved companies in the world? Destroy Mickey Mouse. Destroy the MCU. Destroy Star Wars. Destroy Pixar. Destroy tourism. That’s crazy!
Ron can’t play well with others. Ron cannot get along with anyone unless they agree with him all of the time, gets violently destructive when that doesn’t happen… [Rumor is he would ask a date out for “thigh” food as a test; he didn’t want to date a woman that would correct him.] #crazy
Disney welcomes millions of guests every year to Walt Disney World. However, when guests exhibit less than Disney-friendly behavior, that can result in a hefty price, like a lifetime ban.
The Florida federal judge presiding over Disney’s lawsuit against Gov. Ron DeSantis has recused himself due to a conflict of interest. The case will be assigned to a different judge, according to the order.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc., filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida on Wednesday, accusing DeSantis of orchestrating a “targeted campaign of government retaliation,” which would violate the company’s free speech rights.
Disney filed the lawsuit after the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, which houses Walt Disney World Resort, voted to invalidate two development contracts that Disney signed in February.
Federal Judge over Disney’s Lawsuit Against Gov. DeSantis Recuses Himself
DeSantis recently appointed a board to oversee the district housing Disney.
In Friday’s order, U.S. Magistrate Judge Martin Fitzpatrick wrote he’s related “in the third degree” to someone employed by one of the parties in the lawsuit, which requires his recusal from the case.

The Great Florida Road Trip launches at ICON Park. We were on hand for the launch of a brand new interactive experience at The Wheel at Icon Park called “The Great Florida Road Trip“. A mix between immersive interaction video games, attraction, and a history lesson.
“The Great Florida Road Trip” is the first interactive game to take place while riding an observation wheel, adding an innovative secondary experience on top of the incredible views.
As their private wheel cabin rise up to 400 feet in the air, guests use a special retro-themed camera, outfitted with infrared technology, to aim markers on the rooftops below and compete for points to win a prize.
This experience’s art and game pieces are themed to a nostalgic road trip through Florida in the 50s and 60s, paying homage to the state’s original tourism attractions that were here even before the arrival of famous theme parks.
In the early-to-mid 1900s, Florida was a unique vacation spot with its natural sights, inventive attractions, unique architecture and sports like the Everglades, Silver Springs’ glass-bottom boats, Miami’s art deco style, Daytona car racing, and more. Now, old Florida charm meets exciting innovation with the launch of The Great Florida Road Trip at ICON Park.
“This new experience is inspired by the original features that put Florida on the map,” said Chris Jaskiewicz, ICON Park president and CEO. “The Great Florida Road Trip is the first interactive gaming experience that you can play on a 400-foot-high observation wheel. Weaving together new technology with nostalgia, this experience was designed for people of all ages to enjoy. Parents and grandparents will love the vintage appeal, and kids can put their gaming skills to the test.”
“We’re excited to offer our visitors an additional and entertaining way of learning about everything that Florida has to offer. Travelers have been choosing Florida for decades and this immersive experience will further their understanding of the history, nostalgia and the many reasons why Florida is still the No. 1 vacation destination,” said Visit Florida’s Dana Young, president and CEO.
The Great Florida Road Trip launches at ICON Park
The Experience:
Upon boarding The Wheel, each player receives a special camera – resembling a vintage long-lens photographer’s camera from the 50s – that’s outfitted with infrared technology that reaches up to 1,000 feet to interact with game markers on the rooftops below. The 45 markers symbolize a nostalgic road trip through the Sunshine State including Florida oranges and giant vintage postcards promoting famous travel destinations of the era, with a 1940s-era radio voice describing fun facts about the sights.
Using the camera, players aim at the sensors at each marker and “snap” a photo to electronically register points. Every cabin has a winner, as the high scorer gets a prize – a $5 arcade card for In The Game ICON Park.
The game is designed to be played during the beginning and end ride segments, so mid-way players can relax and enjoy their view of the ultimate Florida travel destination: Orlando. The Wheel reaches 400 feet high and has views for 26 miles across Central Florida of famous theme parks, beautiful resorts, the Orlando Entertainment District and more.
At the end of the experience, every party will receive a special memento of their vacation with the Flamingo Family. Guests will be provided with a retro-style postcard they can fill out after the experience and drop in a themed mailbox for ICON Park to mail out for them.
Along with this new experience aboard The Wheel, there’s a redesigned queue with a new 70-foot-long vintage Florida mural, a new 1960s Orlando map, a preshow and themed merchandise mix – All of which serves to transport guests back to what has been called the golden age of Florida tourism.
Orlando-based IDEAS, Knoxville-based Creative Amusements and Lafayette, Indiana-based Steradian Technologies all contributed to the theming, style and product development the experience required.

Tour the New Mary Poppins Rooms at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
Last summer refurbishment began on rooms at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. These are now Mary Poppins rooms and are absolutely stunning! Take a look:
We got to take a look at a standard room in the Conch Key building. We were also told that only one building is left for the room refurbishment. Soon, all rooms will be finished and have the Mary Poppins theme!
The bathroom has a double sink with gold accents. The mirror is lighted with a beautiful design. The artwork in the bathroom looks like a scene from one of Bert’s chalk drawings in Mary Poppins. The vanity is now across from the bathroom rather than near the beds. The wall features a beautiful floral design with birds.
This room had 2 queen beds with white bedding. Accent pillows were an aqua blue with white. The headboards were dark blue. Both beds are raised so luggage can be stored underneath.
Between the beds is a nightstand with a phone and lamp. The lampshade features floral silhouettes along with Mary Poppins’ umbrella.
There is also a light blue sofa across from the beds along with a table. Above the sofa is artwork depicting Cherry Tree Lane and Mary Poppins’ arrival. The sofa folds down into a daybed for a 5th guest.
The closet is now near the beds where the vanity used to be. The doors feature a beautiful grey floral design.
This room also had a balcony with a couple of chairs and a great view of Seven Seas Lagoon!
