New Trees Planted Around EPCOT Area Construction. Construction continues behind the walls at Epcot, and we are seeing improvements almost every day now. Later this year CommuniCore Hall and Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana will open to the public, along with Dreamers Point which will be the home to the new Walt Disney Statue.
World Celebration will offer a beautiful hub divided into several different gardens, with a central planter based on the five-ring EPCOT logo. Filled with ample seating and shade, youโll be invited to connect with one another and the nature around you in this lush new area. Each of these gardens will have its own identities, and theyโll change along with the festivals throughout the year.
We are starting to see more trees and gardens being installed and planted as you can see in the images below.
At night, the gardens will take on a whole new life, as you can see here. Theyโre designed to be enjoyed in the round, where lighting immerses you in the nighttime experience that will evolve through the seasons.
At Destination D23 last year, we shared a look at a new Walt Disney statue, created by Imagineers for a special area in EPCOT called Dreamers Point. Inside the pavilion, youโll see the statue that we can now share will be called โWalt the Dreamer,โ which will inspire guests as he gazes out at EPCOT, encouraging everyone to follow their dreams right along with him.

Disney and Make-A-Wish are celebrating 150,000 Disney wishes
Disney and Make-A-Wish have collaborated to make dreams come true for kids suffering from critical illnesses for the past 40 years. Together, the two organizations have granted 150,000 Disney-inspired wishes. To ensure Disney-inspired wishes continue into the future, Disney and Make-A-Wish have collaborated on a new specialty license plate.
The 150,000th Disney-inspired wish was granted to 16-year-old Mikayla from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, who began her battle fighting cancer three years ago. Mikayla and her family’s wish was made extra special via an overnight stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite, which is not a typical occurrence even for Make-A-Wish families.
The Disney Make-A-Wish License Plates are not just an artistic tribute; they also serve as a catalyst for transforming lives. The proceeds from the sale of these specialty plates directly benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, enabling them to fulfill the wishes of countless children facing critical illnesses.
The new plate design, which features Cinderella Castle and will replace the current 50th-anniversary plate, debuted on the back of the coach that Mikayla rode in as the Grand Marshall of the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom Park.
Whether it’s a trip to a Disney theme park, meeting their favorite princess, or becoming a superhero for a day, these wishes create unforgettable memories that provide hope, strength, and resilience to these courageous children and their families. The license plates, dubbed โthe most magical license plate on earth,” have generated more than $1.5 million in proceeds so far for Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida.
No word yet on when the plates will be available for Florida drivers.

Central Florida Tourism Oversight District to Countersue Disney in State Court
Last week we reported the news that Walt Disney Parks And Resorts had filed a federal lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stating that the Governor has waged a โrelentless campaign to weaponize government powerโ against the company.
โSince Disney sued us, we have no choice now but to respond,โ Chairman Martin Garcia said.
The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board called Mondayโs meeting to authorize legal action against Disney.
This district will seek justice in state court here in Central Florida, where both it and Disney reside and do business. “Yes, we’ll seek justice in our own backyard.”
Garcia says the state court lawsuit will seek to “uphold and enforce the board’s April 26, 2023, legislative findings relating to the February 8, 2023 development agreement and declaration of restrictive covenants.”
We are far from over with the feud between the Walt Disney Company and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Bob Weis was honored with a window at Hollywood Studios to commemorate an esteemed Imagineering career
In the magical world that is Disney, few individuals have left an indelible mark as significant as Bob Weis, the renowned president of Walt Disney Imagineering. With a career spanning decades and countless groundbreaking projects, Weis has consistently pushed the boundaries of imagination and storytelling. To honor and commemorate his career, Weis has been honored with a window at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Weis’s career as a Disney Imagineer spans over 40 years and includes work on projects such as Disney’s first international park (Tokyo Disneyland) and the creation of the park that we know today as Disney’s Hollywood Studios. His creative fingerprints can also be found on Tokyo DisneySea, Disney California Adventure, and Shanghai Disneyland. Weis served as the President of Disney Imagineering from 2016-2022.
Photos and details about the new window were shared by Disney Imagineering on Instagram:
Weis’s work on the creation of Hollywood Studios makes the park an ideal location for the new window. The window, which reads: Flower Street Pictures; Bob Weis, Studio Head; “Our Productions Entertain the World”, is a testament to Weis’s dedication and creativity. Located above Hollywood Vine, it will serve both as a reminder of Weis’s impact on Disney Parks and as a source of inspiration for future generations of Imagineers.
