Video: Guest Jumps off stopped Gran Fiesta Tour, Fights with Guests and Cast Members Before Being Banned

A recent incident at EPCOT’s Gran Fiesta Tour involving a reportedly intoxicated guest (Karen) has garnered attention after going viral online.

User @Shianne_1995 posted two videos capturing the incident, which unfolded when several boats came to a halt near the ride’s exit. The impatient guest decided to disembark, stumbling along the emergency exit platform while Cast Members urged her to return to her seat. Concerned guests from her boat attempted to get the attention of the Cast Members, with one even making a call.

Amid the commotion, someone off-screen called for Disney security. Despite pleas from other guests to be allowed off the boat, the Cast Members were unable to move the boats forward safely with a standing guest (Karen) present. The intoxicated individual engaged in arguments with fellow guests. In a moment captured on video, a person, likely a Cast Member, warned the guest that she had thirty seconds to comply or face consequences.

The second video shows the guest defiantly declaring her intention to leave, unhooking a rope and proceeding through the roped-off area toward the unloading zone. A Cast Member intervened, informing her that she was not allowed to exit. Undeterred, the guest climbed over the ropes surrounding a podium, disappearing from sight. However, the Cast Member assured her that she would not be allowed to leave the building.

The caption accompanying the TikTok videos described the guest’s unruly behavior, including screaming, attempting to fight with other passengers, swinging at young workers, and causing fear among children. Ultimately, security had to be called to escort her out, and subsequent reports indicate that she has been banned from Walt Disney World.

This is not the first time in the past month a guest decided to exit a ride vehicle. Less than 2 weeks ago a Guest Jumped Out of a Stopped Ride Vehicle Inside Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

Elemental Records Second Worst Opening Weekend in Pixar History

After an almost three-year hiatus from original theatrical releases, Pixar Animation Studios has returned to cinemas nationwide. In the wake of the pandemic, the acclaimed studio had three consecutive movies released exclusively on Disney+. Last year’s “Lightyear,” a Toy Story spinoff, marked Pixar’s first theatrical presence since 2020.

However, this weekend’s “Elemental” marks Pixar’s first non-franchise-based theatrical release since “Onward.” Regrettably, the film’s performance has fallen below expectations, delivering what is arguably the worst opening weekend in Pixar’s history.

Pixar-Elemental-1

Initial projections for “Elemental” indicated a modest debut of around $35 million. Disappointingly, the film fell short of even that mark, earning just $29.5 million over the past three days. Technically, this makes it the second-lowest opening weekend for Pixar, with the studio’s debut film “Toy Story” grossing $29.1 million in its first weekend. However, when accounting for inflation, the opening weekend of “Toy Story” holds more significance. It also had a limited release in significantly fewer theaters and revolutionized the animation industry as a whole.

Director Peter Sohn’s previous film, “The Good Dinosaur,” earned slightly over $39 million in its opening weekend, which was already considered low at the time. Needless to say, this debut is a cause for concern within the Pixar community.

ELEMENTAL

However, it would be unfair to place blame solely on “Elemental,” as the film has garnered mostly positive reviews. With a 76% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a robust audience score of 92%, it is evident that most viewers who have seen the movie enjoyed it. The film’s critical reception does not appear to be the issue at hand.

Have you seen Pixar’s Elemental this weekend?

Disney CEO Bob Iger and CFO Christine McCarthy Reportedly Clashed Over Disney Spending

Earlier this week we shared the news that Disney’s CFO Christine McCarthy would be stepping down due to family medical leave.

However, according to the Wall Street Journal, It is being reported that the real reason for Christine McCarthy’s departure from the Walt Disney Company is due to a clash between herself and Bob Iger over Disney’s Spending.

Christine-McCarthy-Early-Favorite-to-Replace-Bob-Iger

The official announcement regarding McCarthy’s medical leave did not disclose specific details. However, subsequent reports indicated that her husband’s illness played a role, although it was not the sole reason for her departure.

Differences of opinion between McCarthy and some colleagues, particularly related to the extent of Disney’s recent restructuring, were also cited as contributing factors. The Wall Street Journal characterized this situation as a “clash” between McCarthy, a former banking executive with a long tenure at Disney, and top management.

Earlier this year, Disney implemented workforce reductions, resulting in approximately 7,000 employee layoffs and an anticipated $5.5 billion in cost savings. As the company moves forward, uncertainties remain regarding the future of ESPN and the fate of Hulu, especially as a significant deadline with minority stakeholder Comcast looms.

McCarthy’s unexpected departure presents a challenge for Iger, who is contracted only until the end of 2024. In addition to the ongoing struggle of identifying his own successor, Iger must now also select a crucial collaborator to fill the CFO role. While Kevin Lansberry, a seasoned veteran with over 30 years of experience, has been fulfilling the CFO responsibilities for the parks division, the company’s immediate financial focus lies in its TV, film, and streaming operations. As such, finding the right candidate for this key position becomes even more urgent for Disney’s financial stewardship.
