Hunchback of Notre Dame Live-Action Reportedly Canceled

There’s heavy talk of a live-action Hunchback of Notre Dame in production since 2019. The collaboration was based entirely on speculation from TikTok and has been gathering momentum over the past two years. Disney never formally announced the project, and the only concrete update came from Alan Menken last May.

Referring to the dicey material in the animated film’s score Menken explained, “It’s (Hunchback’s) a tough one, because the Hunchback movie, Hunchback story involves a lot of real, real issues that are important issues and should be explored to be discussed. And there has to be an agreement about how we deal with those issues. You know, do we do a Hunchback without ‘Hellfire?’ I don’t think so … So it sits in this limbo right now.”

Rumor and unsubstantiated reports have the project shelved. Bob Iger was quite candid about the future of Disney media in an interview with CNBC’s David Faber. Iger shared Disney’s future strategy by stating, “we have to look really hard at how much we’ve made and what’s really worked. And now that we are even more focused on delivering profitability, we have to be I think more discerning in terms of basically what we say yes to…”

Therefore it’s highly likely that Hunchback may have not made it out of pre-production. So many films fall by the wayside before one frame of film is even captured, so rumor has it that Hunchback (at least for now) has suffered an ignominious defeat. Stay tuned for updates on this project and more Disney films and shows.

Flavors of Florida Culinary Demonstration from Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar and The Ganachery. This summer, join us at Waterview Park for a new culinary series! Learn from the experts at popular Disney Springs dining locations—and get a taste of their fresh, Florida fare.

We have enjoyed our last few Fridays going to Disney Springs and watching the Flavors of Florida Culinary Demonstrations by some of the best Chefs from around Springs. The final one of the year just passed with a great program featuring Chef Jennifer Ladisky making a Honey Lavander Chocolate that can be found at The Gnachary

A presentation by Chef Gary Miles showed us how they make the Rock Shrimp taco served at Jock Lindsey’s Hanger Bar, and Chef Georg Paulussen joined in during the demo to tell us all about the creation of the Flavors menu.

We hope Disney will bring this back in the future, it was a great way to spend a Friday morning!

Ahsoka Two-Episode Disney+ Premiere Runtime Revealed

348873820_1329096361002521_5947901172091729446_n
Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ on August 23 with two episodes.

Ahsoka Two-Episode Disney+ Premiere Runtime Revealed

Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson is set to premiere on Disney+ August 23. Audiences are learning the run-time for the two episodes that will drop when the show makes it debut. Ahsoka will bring to life several character from the ‘Rebels’ animated series created by Dave Filoni.

Ahsoka Tano made her Star Wars debut in the 2008 animated film “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” She was introduced as the Padawan learner of Anakin Skywalker (later known as Darth Vader) and quickly became a central character in the subsequent “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” animated TV series, which premiered later in the same year. Ahsoka’s character was created by George Lucas and brought to life by Dave Filoni, becoming one of the most beloved and iconic characters in the Star Wars universe. Her story continued in Star Wars ‘Rebels.’

“Star Wars Rebels” takes place in the Star Wars universe, set between the events of “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” and “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.” The story follows a diverse group of rebels who come together to fight against the oppressive rule of the Galactic Empire.

Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) in Lucasfilm’s THE MANDALORIAN, season two, exclusively on Disney+. © 2021 Lucasfilm Ltd. & ™. All Rights Reserved.

The main protagonist is Ezra Bridger, a young Force-sensitive orphan who becomes a key member of the crew of the Ghost, a modified freighter spaceship led by the charismatic and resourceful Kanan Jarrus, a former Jedi Knight in hiding. Alongside them are the Twi’lek warrior Hera Syndulla, the Mandalorian explosives expert Sabine Wren, the grumpy but loyal Lasat warrior Zeb Orrelios, and the reprogrammed Imperial droid Chopper.

Throughout the series, the crew of the Ghost embarks on daring missions to sabotage the Empire’s plans, rescue captured allies, and support the growing Rebel Alliance. As they navigate the challenges of their cause, they face formidable adversaries, including the cunning and ruthless Imperial agent, Grand Admiral Thrawn.

The series beautifully explores themes of friendship, sacrifice, and the struggle to find one’s place in a galaxy torn apart by war. With its stunning animation, compelling character development, and seamless integration into the larger Star Wars saga, “Star Wars Rebels” captivates both longtime fans and newcomers alike, solidifying its place as an essential part of the Star Wars canon.

Ahsoka will continue many of the unfinished storylines from the Rebels series, and will revive beloved characters like Ezra Bridger, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Hera Syndulla, and Sabine Wren. Filoni may have additional cameos and surprises in store as he brings his Star Wars animated masterpiece to the live-action Star Wars universe.

Dave Filoni’s masterful storytelling in “Star Wars Rebels” brings depth to beloved characters and introduces new ones that resonate with fans. It serves as a bridge between the prequel and original trilogies, offering rich context and expanding the lore of the Star Wars universe.

Through thrilling action sequences, emotional moments, and surprising connections to other Star Wars media, the series stands as a testament to Filoni’s dedication to crafting engaging narratives within the iconic galaxy far, far away. “Star Wars Rebels” continues to be cherished as a must-watch animated series for any Star Wars enthusiast and exemplifies Filoni’s exceptional talent as a storyteller and custodian of the beloved franchise. For all of these reasons and more, it’s why Star Wars purists are counting down the days till August 23rd.

Ahsoka’s premiere will consist of two episodes with a reported run-time of 1 hour, 36 minutes, and 36 seconds. We don’t know how that will break down per episode, but the promise of a feature length film right off the bat is wholly exciting. Are you excited for the premiere of Ahsoka? What ‘Rebels’ cameo are you hoping for in the upcoming season? Let us know your thoughts in a comment.

We look forward to partnering with them, especially on a movie adaptation of Monopoly

Three Things you didn’t know about Monopoly:

The precursor to Monopoly was actually a game called “The Landlord’s Game,” created by Elizabeth Magie in 1904. Magie designed the game to demonstrate the negative aspects of monopolies and the concentration of wealth in society. It had two sets of rules—one promoting cooperation and the other promoting cutthroat competition. Decades later, in the 1930s, Charles Darrow adapted the game, renaming it “Monopoly” and making various tweaks to the rules. He later sold the game to Parker Brothers, making it a commercial success.

In 2015, a giant Monopoly board in Atlantic City, New Jersey, secured the Guinness World Record for the largest board game in the world. The board measured over 930 square feet (86.4 square meters) and was based on the original Monopoly board layout.

Monopoly has earned a reputation for being a long and time-consuming game. Players worldwide have often created their own house rules to speed up or modify the game to their liking. These house rules have become so prevalent that Hasbro even released “House Rules” editions that incorporate some of the most popular house rules used by players.
