Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Arrives on 4K in October
The Walt Disney Company has officially unveiled a remarkable release – a meticulously restored and remastered version of the classic animated masterpiece, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” in stunning 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format.
This marks the very first time that this beloved cinematic gem will be accessible in the breathtaking quality of 4K UHD. The restoration process is a testament to The Walt Disney Studios’ unwavering commitment to preserving their cinematic heritage. It involved utilizing cutting-edge scans of the original nitrate negative, further enriched by the creative expertise of Disney Animation luminaries Eric Goldberg, a modern master of Disney animation, and Michael Giaimo, the esteemed production designer behind hits like “Frozen,” “Frozen 2,” and “Pocahontas.”
This splendidly restored edition of the iconic film aligns perfectly with Disney’s grand 100th-anniversary celebration and follows the recent 4K UHD restoration of another Disney Animation classic, “Cinderella.”
For Disney enthusiasts, this Disney100 edition will be available nationwide, presented in a special collectible O-sleeve. Moreover, collectors can explore exclusive offerings from select retailers. Hollywood may be quiet, but we can still look forward to a new blockbuster from Marvel Studios this fall. Marvel Studios is getting ready to fly higher, further, and faster one more time in the follow up to Captain Marvel.
Yesterday, Marvel Studios released an exciting new featurette for the upcoming feature film “The Marvels.” Watch “Journey to The Marvels,” and see Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers as you’ve never seen her before on her journey to team up with Captain Monica Rambeau, her alienated niece, and Ms. Marvel, Jersey City’s own teen-age Super Hero.
In Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels,” Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”
The film stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Seo-Jun Park, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and Samuel L. Jackson. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Nia DaCosta and Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik.

Captain Marvel made his first appearance in Marvel Super-Heroes #12 in 1967. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan, this version of Captain Marvel was a Kree warrior named Mar-Vell. Unlike the DC Comics character with the same name, Mar-Vell initially had no connection to a young boy or magical transformation.
Mar-Vell’s character underwent various developments in the Marvel Universe. He was initially portrayed as a heroic Kree warrior, but he eventually adopted a more Earth-based persona, sometimes using the alias “Dr. Walter Lawson.” Over time, Mar-Vell became closely associated with Earth’s heroes, particularly the Avengers.
One of the most significant developments in Captain Marvel’s history at Marvel Comics occurred in 2012 when Carol Danvers, a longtime Marvel character previously known as Ms. Marvel, took up the mantle of Captain Marvel. This transition marked a pivotal moment for both the character and the comic book industry, as Carol Danvers became a prominent and respected superhero in her own right.
Under the Captain Marvel identity, Carol Danvers became a key figure in Marvel’s superhero community. She possesses superhuman strength, flight, and energy manipulation abilities, making her one of Marvel’s most powerful characters. Her solo series, “Captain Marvel,” has explored various aspects of her character and has garnered a dedicated fanbase.
Captain Marvel’s popularity extended beyond comics with the character’s introduction in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brie Larson portrayed Carol Danvers in the 2019 film “Captain Marvel,” which explored her origin and her connection to the wider MCU. Captain Marvel’s inclusion in the MCU solidified her status as a major player in Marvel’s storytelling.
Hey you guys! Goonies is returning to a theater near you to honor a 100 years of Warner Brothers. This iconic Richard Donner film is getting a limited engagement run at various AMC theaters starting September 1. Check your local theaters website for showtimes as it appears that Goonies will be available for only one showing per day.
“The Goonies,” directed by Richard Donner and released in 1985, is a beloved adventure-comedy film that has left an enduring mark on pop culture. This classic tale follows a group of misfit kids, played by a talented ensemble cast including Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, and Martha Plimpton, as they embark on a treasure hunt to save their neighborhood from being demolished.
Their quest takes them on a thrilling journey filled with pirate legends, booby traps, and hidden treasures. Despite receiving mixed critical reviews upon release, “The Goonies” found its audience and became a cult classic over the years. At the box office, it was a considerable success, grossing over $61 million domestically and cementing its status as a cherished ’80s film that continues to resonate with audiences of all ages.
There have been several efforts to revive ‘The Goonies.’ “Every couple of years, we come up with an idea, but then it doesn’t hold water,” said producer and writer Steven Spielberg. Several of the actors have expressed an interest in returning to the story, specifically Austin, Quan, and Feldman. However with Richard Donner’s passing in July of 2021, it seems unlikely that Goonies will get a second story unless someone agrees to helm the project.
Until then we’re going to have to enjoy this VHS classic another 1000 times. Lucky for us we can head into the theaters and catch Goonies on the big screen one more time. If you’re not lucky enough to have ‘The Goonies’ on a screen near you, it can be streamed on MAX (with a subscription.)

Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs is currently closed due to a Broken AC Unit
Gideon’s Bakehouse, located at Disney Springs, is presently shuttered due to an ongoing issue with its air conditioning system.
The main outlet for the renowned Gideon’s cookies was temporarily closed as of yesterday, and based on the latest information, it is anticipated to remain inaccessible until September 1, 2023.
However, the original quaint store situated at the East End Market on Corrine Drive in Orlando continues to operate under normal conditions.

Hi. This update is no fun, but here we are.
The temporary portable AC units are not adequately cooling the store today. The shop is empty with ovens off, yet the temp is still pushing 100. The fried AC part is out of stock until late September, so the next stage is to completely replace the AC unit, which was installed only a few months ago! Given that it’s the size of a car, it will take some planning. Please send positive thoughts to the universe that it can get done tomorrow night. In the meantime, Gideon’s at Disney Springs will likely be closed on September 1.
Everything will launch tomorrow per usual, but Gideon’s at East End is the only game in town until we’re back on track.

runDisney holds multiple races every year at Walt Disney World. Runners like to enhance their race attire and dress up as Disney characters. There are costume guidelines, however.
An email was sent recently to participants of the runDisney 2023 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon explaining some changes to those guidelines.
Layered costumes that could conceal prohibited items are not permitted.
Costume props including, without limitation, those that surround the entire body, are inflatable, or physically connect multiple participants to each other are not permitted.
Foam swords and all-plastic lightsabers may be permitted, however, they may not exceed 36″ in length.

San Fransokyo Square
San Fransokyo Square opened today at Disneyland Resort. The area features sights, shopping and splendid cuisine from the industrious city in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Academy Award®-winning film “Big Hero 6.” Guests are transported to the not-too-distant future, in a fictional mash-up of two iconic cities – San Francisco and Tokyo.
The most iconic landmark of the area is the 54-foot-tall San Fransokyo Gate Bridge, which spans the tide pools linking the seaside plaza to the Paradise Gardens Park obelisk. Inside the bustling marketplace, guests will discover that the local businesses and eateries are decked out in street art and colorful banners celebrating the Big Hero 6 team after their victory over Yokai.
