Disney releases Disney Legacy Animated Film Collection Commemorating 100 Years!

Today, The Walt Disney Company unveiled an exciting release: the Disney Legacy Animated Film Collection. This extraordinary collection comprises 100 animated masterpieces from Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and PixarⓇ. These cinematic treasures are thoughtfully bundled in a magnificent hardbound, self-supporting three-volume set that ingeniously transforms into a cherished storybook.

In honor of Disney’s centennial celebration, a select quantity of these sets will be exclusively available for pre-order on Walmart.com, starting on September 18. Each of these exclusive sets will also include a numbered certificate of authenticity, adding to their allure and collectibility.

The set includes 100 animated titles on Blu-ray, digital codes for each title, features the original theatrical poster art, a collectible lithograph from Disney Animation’s all-new musical comedy Wish, and a collectible crystal Mickey ears hat with exclusive Disney 100 engraving.

This special collection features a stunning array of Disney Animation and Pixar classics including Bambi, Sleeping Beauty, The Lion King, Toy Story, Frozen and Encanto. Select Pixar titles also includes a bonus disc of extras.

Liver Lips Renamed for Upcoming Country Bear Jamboree Update

The upcoming update to Country Bear Jamboree to result in name change for Liver Lips

During Destination D23, Disney announced an upcoming update to Country Bear Jamboree that will result in new music (and a new act) for the lovable bears. The updated show poster that was shared with the announcement points to another update-a new name for Liver Lips.

While the other bears, including Big Al, Trixie, and Henry, retain their current names on the poster, Liver Lips appears to have been re-named to Romeo McGrowl.

We will need to await additional details about the updated show to determine if the new name is permanent for Liver Lips or simply an updated stage name for a specific part of the show.

Country Bear Jamboree is an attraction in Frontierland section of Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World that carries a bit of nostalgia for long-time Disney fans. The attraction, which was an opening day attraction back in 1971, features Audio-Animatronic bears that perform on stage in Grizzly Hall.

The description of the show on the Walt Disney World website invites guests to “Clap along as 18 Audio-Animatronics hillbilly bears play and sing during this 16-minute, foot-stompin’ cele-bear-tion. You’ll hear a medley of original and classic tunes—all performed by the zaniest critters in the woods.”

Destination D23 was full of Disney theme park news yesterday! Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro shared a look at what is coming to the parks in the future.

D’Amaro shared that “over the next decade, we’re going to have more projects underway than at any point in our history. Our sole purpose is to give you more and more of what you love about a Disney experience. And then surprise and delight you with things you never dreamed possible.”

Figment Meet & Greet at Epcot

Starting today, September 10th, EPCOT will be filled with even more magic and imagination as Figment, everyone’s beloved purple dragon, makes his grand entrance for meet and greets. Figment has been a cherished character in the hearts of Disney fans for years, and now, visitors to EPCOT can have the enchanting opportunity to meet him in person.

Zootopia-themed Show Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

An all-new Zootopia themed show is coming soon to the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The show will be housed in the Tree of Life, which means it would replace It’s Tough To Be a Bug, a 3D movie and multimedia show that stars Flik and Hopper from the Disney and Pixar film A Bug’s Life.

Country Bear Jamboree Getting an Update in 2024

Country Bear Jamboree will be receiving new songs and an entirely new show in 2024.

When the performance premieres, the beloved bears will put their unique spin on cherished Disney tunes, exploring various country music genres. The Imagineers are crafting this fresh experience as a tribute to the timeless musical revues of Nashville, collaborating closely with local musicians to capture the authentic country sound.

Hatbox Ghost Coming to Haunted Mansion in November

The Hatbox Ghost will be materializing in the Haunted Mansion as you pass the attraction’s Endless Hallway in late November!

We’ve been waiting for the Hatbox Ghost to come to Magic Kingdom and we can’t wait for him to materialize!

Possible Encanto and Indiana Jones themed expansions for Disney’s Animal Kingdom

While Disney previously announced a possible Zootopia expansion for the park, it appears Judy Hopps and friends have been limited to a new show coming to the Tree of Life.

The D23 announcements included a discussion about how Encanto and Indiana Jones are both heavily in discussion for expansions at the park. Disney is committed to expanding the Animal Kingdom story, and it appears these franchises will be at the heart of future Animal Kingdom expansions.

Epcot’s Test Track to be Reimagined

Test Track at Epcot will be receiving a complete reimagining.

Disney will continue to partner with Cheverolet on the attraction, with the re-imagining utilizing the original World of Motion attraction as inspiration.

No time frame was announced for the latest overhaul of the ride.

Pirates of the Caribbean Themed Tavern Coming to Magic Kingdom

A new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is coming to Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida. This first-of-its-kind experience will extend the story of Pirates of the Caribbean. Imagineers are in the design process now and more details are coming in the future.

Journey of Water Inspired by Moana Opening Date Announced & Moana Meet & Greet

Journey of Water Inspired by Moana will officially open to the public on October 16, 2023. The attraction is an immersive, walk-through experience that is both engaging and visually stunning that invites guests to play with water as it travels from the sky to the oceans and back again.

Moana will be greeting guests at a permanent meet-and-greet location outside of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. The Meet and Greet will begin when the attraction opens next month.

Ahsoka Coming to Star Tours in 2024

Ahsoka will become part of the popular Star Tours attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, Disneyland Park in California and Disneyland Paris – beginning next spring.

Ahsoka’s multifaceted personality, her journey from Padawan to experienced warrior, and her enduring commitment to the Force make her a standout figure in the expansive Star Wars universe.

Luminous The Symphony of Us coming to EPCOT

A new show will be called Luminous The Symphony of Us will debut on December 5 at Epcot! The new show will reportedly feature fireworks, fountains, lasers, lighting effects and some great Disney music.

World Jumping Marvel Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

At Disney California Adventure Park, an exciting addition is on the horizon for the next attraction in Avengers Campus, aimed at facilitating the transportation of Super Heroes into the Multiverse. The “King Thanos” attraction was first announced last year and today we got a look at the new ride vehicle.

This cutting-edge design seamlessly blends elements inspired by Tony Stark’s time-suits, the advanced Xandarian jump points, and the state-of-the-art Wakandan technology. Stay tuned for additional information on this advanced vehicle, set to embark on journeys to uncharted realms, which will be revealed in the near future!

World Celebration Opening in Epcot

The new World Celebration neighborhood in Epcot has received an opening date! World Celebration will unite the front of the park, tying together the other two new EPCOT neighborhoods, World Discovery and World Nature. The new neighborhood will officially open in December 2023.

Asha from Wish Meet and Greet coming to Epcot

EPCOT, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris are getting an exciting new meet and greet in the near future. Asha, from the new Disney animated film “Wish” will meeting guests soon.

Wish will follow a young girl named Asha who wishes on a star and gets more than expected when a trouble-making star comes to her aid. Wish stars Chris Pine, Alan Tudyk and Ariana DeBose. Wish releases in theaters worldwide starting November 22, 2023.

Soarin’ Over California Coming to Epcot

For a limited time guests will get to experience Soarin’ Over California at Epcot! Starting September 22, 2023, this version of the ride will be available in honor of the Disney100 celebration.

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point Coming Soon for DCL Guests

Disney Cruise Line guests will soon have an all-new private island to travel to. Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will begin greeting guests next year. Disney is hard at work “collaborating with talented artists and cultural advisors in the Bahamas to shape an experience that celebrates the natural beauty, traditions and artistry of the one-of-a-kind nation”.

Disney Adventure is Newest Ship Coming to Disney Cruise Line

Disney announced today the latest ship that will be joining the Disney Cruise Line fleet! The Disney Adventure will be the seventh ship in Disney’s fleet, and will be the first Disney Cruise Line vessel to sail from Singapore and throughout Southeast Asia.

The Disney Adventure will feature the same stellar Disney Cruise Line customer service and storytelling that DCL is known for. Work on the ship us currently underway in Germany. An initial sailing date was not included in the announcement.

D23 Expo Returns to Anaheim in 2024

Soarin’ Over California is coming to Epcot for a limited time in honor of Disney100! Guests can enjoy the attraction starting September 22.

Soarin’ Over California was the original Soarin’ attraction.

The journey begins as the foggy clouds of San Francisco part to reveal the sprawling expanses of the Golden Gate Bridge. Star Wars Hera Syndulla & Chopper to Appear at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

Some new characters have arrived at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland! General Hera Syndulla and Chopper can be seen roaming the Black Spire Outpost.

Famed Rebel and New Republic pilot General Hera Syndulla arrived at Black Spire Outpost yesterday, September 8. She is joined by her astromech droid, Chopper.

Disney shared the news of the new character on Instagram yesterday morning.

“For a limited time starting today, say hello to Hera and Chopper at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park.”

Hera Syndulla and Chopper made their first appearance in “Star Wars Rebels,” with Vanessa Marshall lending her voice to Hera, while series creator Dave Filoni voiced Chopper. They remained prominent protagonists throughout the series and continue to have significant roles in “Ahsoka,” which is currently streaming on Disney+.

Journey of Water is a new walk-through experience located within World Nature – the EPCOT neighborhood dedicated to understanding and preserving the beauty and balance of the natural world.

As you make your way through this serene trail in EPCOT, get ready to engage with water in magical ways, just like Moana did in the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios film. From a simple wave “hello” to a high five – and even a crashing wave of fun – engaging opportunities to interact with this important and playful resource greet you around every bend. In this self-guided, walk-through attraction, you’ll explore lush, landscaped trails inspired by the film – the first Disney Parks experience to dive into this tropical world. Keep a lookout along the way for beloved characters sculpted in the rock formations like Hei Hei, Pua and of course, Moana.

Water here has a playful personality of its own – and you’re invited to play along. Designed with the whole family in mind, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is a self-paced experience that offers accessible pathways and the option to see how far you’ll go by choosing the wet or the dry path. It’s up to you to decide just how friendly with water you’d like to get, but we hope you’ll walk away with a new pal.

Along the path, you’ll learn all about the water cycle and why it’s important to channel your inner Moana and be a protector of this incredible natural resource. Magic Kingdom Expansion to be Biggest in Disney’s History

At Destination D23 today, we got some news regarding the Magic Kingdom expansion! This expansion project will be the biggest expansion in Disney’s history. Bruce Vaughn, chief creative officer of Walt Disney Imagineering, shared some updates during a panel this morning.

This expansion will be similar to Pandora — The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Many new offerings being considered, like attractions, restaurants, shows, and more for “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain”.

Many new ideas were first introduced at D23 Expo last year. Ideas included lands themed to “Coco,” “Encanto,” and an entire area dedicated to Disney Villains. The “Encanto” idea is most likely off the table as it is most likely coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Also announced today for Magic Kingdom:

Hatbox Ghost is coming to the Haunted Mansion attraction in Florida in late November! Disney Imagineer Daniel Joseph joined Josh D’Amaro on stage for the exciting announcement and sharing more about Hatbox Ghost – one of our most well-known grim grinning ghosts. Hatbox Ghost will be materializing in the Haunted Mansion as you pass the attraction’s Endless Hallway.
At Walt Disney World, the Country Bear Jamboree is getting new songs and the bears will be performing a new act in 2024! Disney Imagineer Chris Beatty shared when the show debuts, the bears will be reinterpreting favorite Disney songs in different genres of country music. Imagineers are envisioning the new experience as a homage to the classic musical revues in Nashville and they’re working with Nashville musicians to get the authentic country sound. The Country Bear Jamboree will still have the fun and friendly tone fans enjoy with the same famous characters like the loveable Trixie, Big Al and others.

Dinosaur To Be Reimagined as Indiana Jones Ride in the Animal Kingdom

We are excited for Dinosaur to be reimagined at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Today at Destination D23 it was announced that Walt Disney Imagineering is planning to reimagine Dinoland U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park into a new land inspired by a region sometimes referred to as “tropical Americas.”

As part of their research, Imagineers are looking at some of the most biodiverse areas on the planet in the regions just north and south of the equator in the Western Hemisphere – the northern part of South America, stretching up into Central America.

New experiences inspired by “Encanto” – the Academy Award winning Walt Disney Animation Studios film – and the fan-favorite adventurer Indiana Jones are being considered for the reimagined land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort.

It makes sense that the Dinosaur attraction would be reimagined as the Indiana Jones ride. The attraction is already similar to the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction at Disneyland. Also, the concept art shared today shows a building that looks to be similar to the Temple of the Forbidden Eye at Disneyland.

Disney Cruise Line guests will soon have an all-new private island to travel to. Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will begin greeting guests next year.

Asha from Wish Meet and Greet coming to Epcot

There’s a special kind of Disney magic that takes place in a quieter corner of the theme parks – the Disney Meet and Greets. These seemingly ordinary encounters hold a special place in the hearts of Disney fans, both young and old, for they offer a chance to connect with beloved characters in a way that transcends the screen. We are ready to rediscover the joy of meeting a brand new character from the upcoming film “Wish.”

Josh D’Amaro announced in the Destination D23 Parks Presentation that EPCOT, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris are getting an exciting new meet and greet in the near future. Asha, from the new Disney animated film “Wish” will also soon be coming to EPCOT, Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris.

Wish will follow a young girl named Asha who wishes on a star and gets more than expected when a trouble-making star comes to her aid. Wish stars Chris Pine, Alan Tudyk and Ariana DeBose. Wish releases in theaters worldwide starting November 22, 2023.

World Celebration Neighborhood Opening Date Announced

EPCOT’s World Celebration neighborhood will open to guests later this year

Construction on the new World Celebration neighborhood at EPCOT is well underway, and we now have an official opening date thanks to Destination D23!

I have been watching the progression of this neighborhood for quite some time, and am excited to check out the new CommuniCore Hall and Dreamers Point. World Celebration will unite the front of the park, tying together the other two new EPCOT neighborhoods, World Discovery and World Nature.

Our wait to explore this new neighborhood will soon come to an end end, as World Celebration will officially open to guests in December 2023.
