Dave Filoni Named Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer
Dave Filoni, a seasoned figure in the Star Wars universe, is expanding his influence as the newly appointed Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm.
Reflecting on his previous involvement in projects, Filoni expressed, “In the past, in a lot of projects, I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good way,” in an interview with Vanity Fair, which first reported the news.
In his enhanced role, Filoni will be actively engaged in the early development stages of Star Wars projects, collaborating closely with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and Head of Development Carrie Beck.
This strategic move comes at a pivotal moment for Star Wars. Despite its success on the small screen, driving subscriptions on Disney+, the franchise has faced challenges in bringing new films to theaters.
Since the divisive “Rise of Skywalker” in 2019, there have been no theatrical releases. In line with this, Filoni, as revealed in April during Star Wars Celebration, is working on directing a live-action feature. This project is expected to weave together the narrative between 1983’s “Return of the Jedi” and 2015’s “The Force Awakens,” potentially featuring characters from his Disney+ show.

Universal’s Holiday Parade Featuring Macy’s at Universal Studios Florida is a delightful half-hour seasonal spectacle. This parade, typically occurring nightly at 5:30 PM, winds through New York and Production Central, featuring a series of imaginative floats and beloved characters from franchises like Despicable Me, Madagascar, and Shrek. Read on to learn more about the parade and check out a full-length video of this year’s offering!
The parade includes a great mix of balloons, floats, and characters. The Despicable Me segment features the Minions and the Gru family across three floats, showcasing the characters’ playful antics. Madagascar’s representation includes floats and balloons dedicated to its penguin characters, King Julien, and other key figures from the franchise. The Shrek section brings the Gingerbread Man, The Three Little Pigs, The Three Blind Mice, The Big Bad Wolf, and a Santa Shrek float among others.
A highlight of the parade is the appearance of Santa Claus himself, alongside classic Christmas elements like toys, a nutcracker balloon, and reindeer floats. The grand finale features Santa Claus on his sleigh, followed by a gold star balloon with the Macy’s logo.

The sign for the upcoming Dreamworks Land at Universal Orlando has been installed!
Universal Studios Florida is gearing up for the debut of its exciting new DreamWorks land, slated to open in 2024. This highly anticipated themed area, currently under construction in the former KidZone location, promises to offer vibrant and family-friendly experiences. Construction on the new land has hit an important milestone, and the land’s marquee sign has just been installed!
Guests of all ages can look forward to immersing themselves in the worlds of beloved DreamWorks Animation characters from popular franchises like Shrek, Trolls, and Kung Fu Panda. Special meet-and-greet opportunities with these and other characters, including Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse, will be a highlight of the new land. It is really impressive to see the new sign in place and how much the sign mirrors the artist rendering released earlier this year.
The area where DreamWorks Land is being developed was previously home to attractions like Curious George Goes To Town, DreamWorks Destination, Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, Shrek’s Swamp Meet, and Fievel’s Playland.

Tim Allen talks to Cast About Home Improvement Revival Series
Tim Allen, while promoting the upcoming second season of The Santa Clauses, spilled the beans that he’s thinking about stepping back into the shoes of Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor. You know, the role that made him a big deal in the ’90s during the eight-season run of Home Improvement. The cast from the show included Richard Karn, Patricia Richardson, Taran Noah Smith, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Zachery Ty Bryan.
Remember Home Improvement? Tim Taylor, the not-so-handy handyman with a DIY TV show. It was basically a comedy show where Tim’s buddy (Karn) had to swoop in and save the day from Tim’s blunders. And, of course, we got to see Tim’s wife (Richardson) holding down the fort at home.
So, in a recent chat, Allen let it slip that he’s been tossing around the idea of bringing back the Tool Man. He hinted at a follow-up that could have a multi-generational vibe. Allen told Deadline, “I see Richard Karn a lot, and I talk to the boys…and I’m there as one of their friends.”
“We keep talking about [a spinoff]. It’s funny, one of the conversations we’ve had recently is how weird it would be if Home Improvement would be about the kids’ kids. Like, if all of them had children, and I’m a grandparent. Home Re-Improvement or something like that. It’s come up.”
For now, we’ll have to put a Home Improvement spinoff on the shelf until we can get to Allen’s latest show, The Santa Clauses. In Season Two of “The Santa Clauses,” the Calvin family finds themselves once again at the North Pole.
Scott Calvin, having put his retirement on hold due to the absence of a suitable successor in the first season, resumes his jolly duties as Santa Claus. With Christmas saved and behind them, Scott shifts his attention to training his son Cal, grooming him to eventually step into the role of Santa Claus and carry on the “family business.”
Allen is also busy with a Toy Story 5 project that was announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger last year. Are you ready for the tools to come out again? With Tim Allen hinting at a potential Home Improvement Revival Series, the prospect of more Tool Time antics is on the horizon. If you’re planning to stay in one of the hotels near EPCOT next week, we’ve got some exciting news for you. Walt Disney World is gearing up for something exciting, and it looks like you might get a sneak peek!
From November 27th to December 2nd (but not on December 1st), fireworks and special effects will be occurring at EPCOT. The testing is scheduled to start around 10:30 p.m. each night other than Thursday, which will begin a bit later due to Extended Evening Hours. Testing each evening will wrap up by 1 a.m.

While Disney hasn’t officially said so, it’s pretty clear that these tests are for the new fireworks show, “Luminous: The Symphony of Us,” which is set to debut on December 5, 2023.
