Ever wondered where your recycled glass goes at Walt Disney World? Believe it or not, it might be helping cultivate the stunning flowers you see at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival!
Disney has implemented an innovative program that utilizes a glass pulverizer to transform recycled glass into a sand-like material. This material is already being used across Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, including on horse trails!
But Disney’s ambitions don’t stop there. Recycled glass from select EPCOT locations is now being incorporated into greenhouse floors, acting as a drainage layer for the plants’ frequent watering needs. This not only benefits the environment but also creates a healthy ecosystem for the park’s flourishing flora.
The program’s success is largely attributed to Disney’s dedicated cast members. By sharing the initiative’s progress, cast members identified new possibilities for recycled glass, propelling the program forward.
Looking ahead, Disney is optimistic about using pulverized glass in even more ways. So next time you recycle at Disney World, remember โ your actions are contributing to a magical and sustainable future!
This pilot program showcases Disney’s commitment to environmental responsibility and their dedication to constant innovation. With exciting possibilities on the horizon, the future looks bright for both Disney and the planet!

Walt Disney World Resort has announced a heartwarming collaboration that bridges the worlds of culinary magic and beloved animation. The Chase family, descendants of the legendary New Orleans chef Leah Chase โ a key inspiration for Disney’s Princess Tiana โ will be the first guests to experience the upcoming attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, this summer.
Chef Leah Chase, the revered owner of Dooky Chaseโs Restaurant, played a pivotal role in shaping the character of Tiana. Her dedication to her community and her passion for Creole cuisine resonated deeply with Walt Disney Imagineering during the creation of Tianaโs backstory.
Sadly, Chef Leah Chase passed away in 2019, but her legacy continues to inspire. Her daughter, Stella Chase Reese, has been a key collaborator with Walt Disney Imagineering throughout the development of Tianaโs Bayou Adventure.
During a recent trip to Walt Disney Imagineering Campus, Stella and her daughter Myla Reese Poree were given a sneak peek of the progress on the attraction. Stella commented on how thrilled her mother would be to see her influence and values reflected in Tianaโs story.
The Chase family connection to Disney doesnโt end there. Stella also got to revisit her motherโs influence at Disneyland Park with stops at Tianaโs Palace restaurant and Eudoraโs Chic Boutique featuring Tianaโs Gourmet Secrets.
As a culmination of their ongoing collaboration, the Chase family was recently surprised with an invitation to Walt Disney World Resort this summer! They will be among the very first guests to experience Tianaโs Bayou Adventure when it opens later this year.
Tianaโs Bayou Adventure will be a musical adventure that picks up after the events of โThe Princess and the Frog.โ Guests will join Tiana and Louis on a Mardi Gras themed adventure through the bayou, encountering familiar faces and making new friends along the way.
The attraction, which is slated to open this summer, will feature a combination of original music and familiar tunes from the movie, a vibrant queue mural, and brand-new characters to meet!
Cutting-Edge RFID Tech Reveals Secrets of Disneyโs Birds
Have you ever wondered how scientists keep track of what birds eat? At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, they use tiny tags- the size of rice grains! These tags help them see how often colorful bee-eater birds visit their special feeders.
These innovative tags are helping researchers unlock the mysteries of the Northern Carmine Bee-eater’s dining habits. By attaching these miniature trackers to the birds, scientists can monitor how often they visit specialized feeding stations stocked with their favorite insect treats.
This information is crucial for maintaining the bee-eaters’ health. While they can catch wild insects in the park, these might not provide the perfectly balanced diet they require. The RFID data allows researchers to ensure the birds are getting the right mix of nutritious bugs provided by Disney’s dedicated animal care team.
The success with the bee-eaters has Disney’s researchers excited. They plan to expand the use of RFID tags to other bird species in the park, continuously learning more about their fascinating feathered residents.
This initiative reflects Disney’s commitment to animal welfare, embodied in their “Disney Planet Possible” program. By using cutting-edge technology like RFID tags, Disney ensures the well-being of its animals, particularly the largest population of Northern Carmine Bee-eaters housed in any accredited zoological institution!
“This project has been incredibly rewarding,” shared Andrew, a Research Programs Specialist on the Animals, Science and Environment team at Disney. “It allows us to leverage cutting-edge technology to provide the very best care possible for our beloved birds.”
The next time you visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom, remember the tiny tags playing a big role behind the scenes. They’re helping to unlock the secrets of the bee-eaters’ diet and ensuring these vibrant birds continue to thrive under Disney’s care. A coalition of over 140 disabled individuals and allies, calling themselves the DAS Defenders, sent a letter to Disney expressing deep concern about recent changes to the Disability Access Service (DAS).
The DAS update, set to begin in May at Walt Disney World and June at Disneyland, limits the program to guests with developmental disabilities like autism. The DAS Defenders argue these restrictions exclude many who need the service, including those with:
Cancer
PTSD
Narcolepsy
POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
Multiple Sclerosis
Low vision
Dependence on oxygen tanks
They believe this policy is unfair and could endanger some guests by forcing them to wait in lines they can’t tolerate for medical reasons.
โBy excluding a broad range of disabilities that cannot tolerate lines for medical reasons,โ the letter states, โDisney is putting individuals in jeopardizing situations.โ
The DAS Defenders condemn the revised policy as “blatantly discriminatory and dismissive”. They scoff at Disney’s proposed solution of a “return-to-queue” option, calling it “unrealistic and insensitive.” The group argues that returning to a line after a restroom break could expose guests with disabilities to “discrimination, harassment, and even potential violence” from other park-goers unaware of, or who shouldn’t be burdened with the knowledge of, a person’s medical situation.
The DAS Defenders further criticize the proposed solutions. They point out that suggesting disabled guests use the rider switch option fails to consider those who travel alone or with other disabled companions. Similarly, recommending Genie+ purchase is seen as “unfair” since “disabled individuals often have higher living expenses” compared to non-disabled guests.
The DAS Defenders list the following requests of Disney:
โDisney revises its Disability Access Service (DAS) program to include a diverse range of disabilities, not just developmental disabilities, incorporating the option to provide documentation.โ
โDevices and programs that are offered as an โaccommodationโ must be free or low cost, abundantly available, and only given to those who will truly benefit from them.โ
โTrain all cast members in anti-ableism and invisible disabilities.โ
โParty size should be considered on a case-by-case basis.โ
โReduce prices on Genie+ and offer guests a limited number of free passes for certain attractions to reduce pressure for people to cheat the system in the first place.โ
โAdditional disability-friendly accommodations should be added to the park including return times for character meet-and-greets with long lines and increased parade and nighttime spectacular viewing areas for disabled guests who cannot stand.โ
โMeet with us, a group of actually disabled park guests, to learn about the true needs of disabled guests before new policies are introduced.โ

Disney launches NEW ‘MyDisney’ Single Login for all your Disney Services
Say goodbye to login hassles! MyDisney, a new all-in-one login, lets you seamlessly access Disney+ accounts, check Disney Store orders, and plan dream Walt Disney World vacations – all from one place.
MyDisney is the name of a new capability Disney is introducing on Tuesday that gives our guests a seamless login experience by using just a single email and password across services and experiences from The Walt Disney Company.
When you login using your personal account information, you will now see the same MyDisney login prompt everywhere you go asking for the same email and password, creating a more seamless login experience.
โMyDisney is our latest innovation designed to make life easier for our consumers, allowing them to manage all their Disney-related services with one unified account,โ Ajay Arora, SVP, Commerce, Growth & Identity for Disney Entertainment & ESPN, said.
How is MyDisney going to make my life easier as a Disney consumer?
If youโre someone that manages different passwords across various accounts with a single email address, this is great news for you, because now you can now use a single email and password as your MyDisney login.
โThis move not only reflects our commitment to technological innovation but also our dedication to creating hassle-free, memorable experiences for our consumers,โ Arora added.
Do I need to take action with my existing accounts to make them MyDisney compatible?
Disney is making it as simple as possible for you.
At your next login attempt on any MyDisney compatible service, when you enter into a password-restricted feature, Disney will ask you to update your password. From then on, that password is the only one youโll need to remember.
That means that going forward, any other MyDisney compatible service will ask you to use only that same email and password via the same prompt.
What services and experiences can I streamline through MyDisney?
Most of Disneyโs most popular sites and apps can now be accessed through MyDisney.
This includes streaming services like Disney+and Hulu, news and entertainment apps like ABC and ESPN, and merchandise and experiences like the Disney Store, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and Walt Disney World.
If I use more than one email address for my Disney services, will I be able to combine them all across MyDisney?
Yes, Disney will just ask that you take a few extra steps.
First, make sure you cancel any subscriptions associated with an email address that you donโt want to use.
After that, sign up for those same subscriptions with the email you want to keep across all your Disney services and Disney will recognize that email and ask you to log in with your MyDisney password.
Are there any other benefits aside from the ease of all my Disney accounts being streamlined into one login?
Through the my.disney.com site, youโll be able to manage certain account preferences and settings across The Walt Disney Company easily in one place.
This includes functions like changing your password, logging out of all devices, and subscribing or unsubscribing from marketing emails you receive from us.
โThe launch of MyDisney is more than just a new feature โ itโs a new era for The Walt Disney Company where convenience meets magic,โ Arora said. โBy allowing our guests to use one login for everything from Disney+ to Disneyland, weโre not just simplifying the technical side of things; weโre enriching the Disney magic that families know and love.โ
Over time, Disney hopes to grow that magic by creating more centralized tools that will help you and other guests manage their accounts and preferences even more seamlessly and conveniently.
