SeaWorld Orlando is buzzing with excitement as they celebrate the arrival of a new feathered friend: Fiesta, the park’s first and only baby flamingo of the season. This little bundle of fluff has already captured the hearts of her caregivers and is quickly becoming a star attraction.

Fiesta hatched just under two months ago from an egg about the size of a typical flamingo egg. Since then, she has been thriving under the dedicated care of SeaWorld’s expert team. Senior Zoo Specialist Iliana Marttila, who has been with Fiesta since the moment she entered the world, couldn’t be more proud of the baby bird’s progress. “She is so fluffy,” Marttila says, describing Fiesta’s adorable appearance.

Marttila is no stranger to raising flamingos, having previously cared for two other chicks at SeaWorld. She recalls the challenges of feeding the tiny birds every four hours when they were just babies, ensuring each meal was given in the safest way possible. Currently, Fiesta is transitioning from formula to solid foods, with Marttila soaking pellets in water to make them easier for the young flamingo to eat.

Despite her small size, Fiesta is already showing a big personality. She’s curious and loves to explore her surroundings, although she still enjoys nestling with her caregiver for some cozy downtime. While she may be small and cuddly now, Fiesta is expected to grow into a full-sized flamingo, reaching up to five feet tall and weighing about five pounds.

Each baby animal at SeaWorld gets a special name chosen by their caregiver. Marttila selected the name Fiesta for this spirited little bird because of her playful nature. “She would flap around and do a little dance, which reminded me of a party,” Marttila explains.

As Fiesta continues to grow and gain strength, she will soon join the rest of the flamingo flock at SeaWorld. Visitors will then have the chance to see this adorable addition up close, watching as she dances her way into the hearts of everyone who meets her.

Keep an eye out for Fiesta on your next visit to SeaWorld Orlando—this little flamingo is sure to add some extra sparkle to your day!
