Walt Disney World Resort has announced that Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park will reopen to guests on Saturday, October 12. This follows the temporary closure of the park due to Hurricane Milton.
The reopening of Typhoon Lagoon comes as a relief to many visitors who were hoping to enjoy the water park during their Walt Disney World vacation. While Disney’s Blizzard Beach remains closed for refurbishment, the reopening of Typhoon Lagoon offers a much-needed splash of fun for guests.
All four Walt Disney World theme parks, Disney Springs, and mini-golf courses have resumed normal operations. However, limited park reservations are currently available for guests with theme park tickets, and park reservations are unavailable for Annual Passholders.
While most of the resort has returned to normal operations, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa remain closed. Guests are encouraged to check back for updates on a reopening timeline.

Disney World Reopens, But Park Reservations Scarce as Magic Kingdom Reaches Capacity
Walt Disney World Resort has reopened its theme parks and Disney Springs today, October 11th, following the passage of Hurricane Milton. However, park reservations are in high demand, and capacity restrictions are in place to manage attendance.
Guests hoping to visit the Magic Kingdom today are out of luck. Park reservations for Magic Kingdom are completely booked for all ticket types, including resort guests, regular theme park tickets, and Annual Passholders.
Availability at Other Parks
While Magic Kingdom has reached capacity, reservations are still available for EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests with regular theme park tickets or those staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can secure reservations for these parks.
Annual Passholders Blocked
Unfortunately, all tiers of Annual Passholders are currently blocked from making park reservations for any of the four theme parks today.
Managing Capacity
These restrictions are in place to manage attendance and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for guests as the resort resumes operations following Hurricane Milton. It is likely that Disney World is taking a cautious approach to reopening, gradually increasing capacity as it assesses any lingering impacts from the storm.
Cancellation & Change Fee updates have been extended through October 16
Walt Disney World has extended its cancellation and change fees policy once again in response to the continued impact of Hurricane Milton. Initially, the policy was extended through October 14, allowing guests more flexibility in adjusting their plans. Now, the policy has been expanded further, covering resort hotel bookings through Wednesday, October 16. This means that guests with reservations through this date can make changes or cancel their bookings without incurring any penalties.
The storm, which prompted the early closure of Walt Disney World theme parks on Tuesday, October 9, has significantly affected the region. The parks remained closed through Thursday, October 10, as a precaution for the safety of guests and Cast Members. This closure also included Disney Springs, the Disney Springs parking garages, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park, and both of Disney’s miniature golf courses.
In addition, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which was scheduled for Thursday, October 10, was canceled due to the storm. Guests with tickets to the event received full refunds, ensuring that those affected by the cancellation are not financially impacted.
Despite the disruption, Disney World has announced plans to reopen its theme parks and Disney Springs on Friday, October 11, with operations resuming according to the standard schedule. The safety and well-being of guests and employees remain Disney’s top priority, and the company is continuing to monitor the situation.

Disneyland Magic Key Preview Dates Revealed for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Magic Key holders at the Disneyland Resort can preview the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure starting October 21! We now know the dates for the previews and how those guests can get access.
Magic Key holders can experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on select dates between October 21, 2024 – November 12, 2024, before the attraction opens to the general public on November 15, 2024. Magic Key holders wishing to journey through the Bayou will need to join the Virtual Queue for this attraction preview.
Guests will also take home a commemorative Magic Key keepsake during each date of the attraction preview while supplies last.

Magic Key holders with a Disneyland Park reservation for that day will have the opportunity to join the virtual queue starting at 7:00 AM.
• Magic Key holders who have already entered either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park that day will have the opportunity to join the virtual queue starting at noon (for previews later that day).
Here’s how to request to join the virtual queue:
1. In the Disneyland app, find the virtual queue section of the home screen and select “Join Virtual Queue”.
2. Select “Join Virtual Queue” for the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Magic Key Preview.
3. If your boarding group is called, you’ll receive a notification via the Disneyland app. Then, head to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and check in at the standby queue entrance within your designated return window—and enjoy your preview!

Walt Disney World Resort has lifted its advisory for guests to shelter in place following the passage of Hurricane Milton. However, the resort has announced that Disney World and Disney Springs will remain closed throughout Thursday, October 10th.
Shelter-in-Place Advisory Lifted
The shelter-in-place advisory, which was posted on the Walt Disney World website earlier Thursday morning, was removed around 9:30 AM ET. This indicates that the resort has completed its assessment of any potential damage from Hurricane Milton and deemed it safe for guests to move about the property.
Disney Springs Closure Extended
Despite initial hopes to reopen Disney Springs later on Thursday, the shopping, dining, and entertainment district will remain closed for the entire day. This decision is likely due to the wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service.
Wind Advisory in Effect
The wind advisory, which includes Orange and Osceola counties where Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are located, is in effect until 8:00 PM ET Thursday. Northwest winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 to 45 mph. These gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, down tree limbs, and potentially cause power outages.
Theme Park Status
Walt Disney World has not yet announced when its theme parks will reopen following the hurricane. The parks were closed in a phased closure on Wednesday afternoon and remained closed throughout Thursday.
