Disneyland will add a “haunted” overlay to Space Mountain and a fireworks “spooktacular” for the Halloween season, theme park officials said.

The “Halloween Time” event, which runs from Sept. 25 through Nov. 1, is included in the price of admission to the Anaheim theme park.

The “Ghost Galaxy” Space Mountain overlay, which originally premiered at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2007, features a new soundtrack and ghostly and ghoulish projections inside the darkened roller coaster building, according to Screamscape.

The Halloween-themed fireworks show, hosted by “Master of Scaremonies” Jack Skellington of “Nightmare Before Christmas” fame, will include nods to Disney villains.

Many of those villains — Cruella de Vil (”101 Dalmatians”), Captain Hook (”Peter Pan”) and Queen of Hearts (”Alice in Wonderland”) — will also be wandering the theme park, signing autographs and passing out treats.

Across the way at Disney’s California Adventure, “Mickey’s Trick-or-Treat Party” will run on Oct. 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23 and 28-31. The separate-admission event — which includes games, music and a Disney characte

Disneyworld Favorites Survey

Article from Heather Leigh Carroll-Landon at the Examiner.

Over the past month I have been conducting a survey of Walt Disney World favorites. I surveyed a total 103 people. Surveys were conducted on line via Twitter and Facebook and at the Walt Disney World Resorts. More than 60 percent of those surveyed were either at a Disney park or at enjoying their day at one of the resorts. Keep in mind that this is not a scientific survey, I was just curious as to what some of the favorites were.

Participants were surveyed in a variety of categories, including overall favorites and favorites at individual theme parks. They gave their favorite ride, restaurants, show, resort and much more. Check out the results below.

Vanessa Hudgens to Strip Down for Next Role

Vanessa Hudgens is taking a bit of a detour from her successful path as a Disney starlet.

The “High School Musical” star, 20, says she is going to strip down for her new role as a hooker in the upcoming film “Sucker Punch,” according to a report in the U.K. Metro.

“I’m playing a character named Blondie and it’s set in a brothel in the 1950s, so there’s not a whole lot of clothes,” the actress was quoted as saying.

“I think this is my time to really step it up and get to grow up. It will be somewhat different with the content and a few more foul words, but that’s the biggest difference.”

A potty-mouthed, half-naked hooker — Yes, that’s definitely “somewhat” different than being a Disney star.

But it’s not the first time that the “HSM” cutie has showed some skin. In 2007, the pint-sized actress apologized for nude photos that showed her smiling while standing in front of a red curtain.

Man accused of exposing himself at Typhoon Lagoon is free on bail

There’s been an arrest at another central Florida water park amid allegations of inappropriate conduct.

Over the weekend, a 51-year-old Connecticut man was arrested at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon on charges that he exposed himself to a 14-year-old girl.

Bradford Biggers from Norwalk, Connecticut, claims it wasn’t intentional and that his European-style bathing suit was too tight.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says Biggers positioned his chair just feet from the girl to expose himself and when a witness yelled at him, he immediately left the water park.

An off-duty officer stopped to question him and found he had a suspended driver’s license and arrested Biggers.

This is the fourth alleged incident involving children and sexual conduct at Orlando-area water parks in recent weeks.

Hong Kong approves $3.63bln for Disneyland expansion

The Hong Kong government agreed Friday to invest another HK$3.63 billion (US$468 million) into the city’s Disneyland theme park in order to attract more visitors.

Reuters reported that the threat of a planned rival Disney theme park for Shanghai prompted the Legislative Council to approve the contribution.

Financial Secretary John Tsang said the park would “rise up to the keen competition in the region on the tourism front, attracting more family visitors from around the world”

“This substantial investment represents our continued commitment to and confidence in Hong Kong Disneyland and solidifies our partnership with the Hong Kong government helping assure the resort’s long-term success” said Disney Parks & Resorts chairman Jay Rasulo.

Hong Kong now has a 52 percent stake in the park following its conversion of a portion of its HK$6.89 billion outstanding loan to the park into equity.
The expansion will be completed by 2014 and include the three themed lands of Grizzly Trail, Mystic Point and Toy Story Land.
