Tron Evolution Video Game to Feature Olivia Wilde from Tron Legacy!

Tron Evolution Video Game to Feature Olivia Wilde from Tron Legacy!

Film and TV star Olivia Wilde and the actor who portrayed the original TRON character, Bruce Boxleitner, will headline the voice cast for the upcoming video game, TRON: Evolution, in addition to appearing in the highly anticipated December film, “TRON: Legacy.” The Hollywood voice cast will star in the upcoming TRON: Evolution video games that bridge the storyline gap between the original “TRON” film and the upcoming “TRON: Legacy” film. Wilde, who plays Quorra, Kevin Flynn’s confidant in the “TRON: Legacy” film, will also star as that character in the TRON: Evolution video games.

Joining Wilde and Boxleitner as voices in the TRON: Evolution video games will be Jensen Ackles (Gibson), James Frain, John Glover (Abraxas), Nolan North (Behemoth, Sentries and Blaze), Kari Wahlgren (Radia), Robin Atkin Downes (Kalev), Terrence A. Carson (Calchas), and Fred Tatasciore (Kevin Flynn, Clu and Bosh). Diane Michelle, Yuri Lowenthal, and Laura Bailey also provide voice audio for the game.

“Quorra is a strong memorable character in the film and the opportunity to represent her in the video game was really important to assure consistency for telling her story,” said Olivia Wilde. “Being in both ‘TRON: Legacy’ and the TRON: Evolution video games is incredible.”

Boxleitner is synonymous with the TRON franchise among fans with his pivotal roles in both the original “TRON” film and now “TRON: Legacy.”

“The voice cast from the film lends authenticity to the experience as they’re telling their characters’ stories after having spent months acting as those characters in the film,” said Darren Hedges, game director, Propaganda Games. “We developed a great relationship with both the talent and the filmmakers throughout their shoot in Vancouver and the experience players will get throughout the game provides a solid back story leading into the ‘TRON: Legacy’ film.”

TRON: Evolution and TRON: Evolution – Battle Grids will be available on December 7 in North America for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Wii™ home console, Games for Windows – LIVE, Nintendo DS™, and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system. In addition, TRON: Evolution – Battle Grids for Wii will include competitive four-player mini games for the entire family.

TRON: Evolution conveys the story of a series of seismic events within the TRON mythology that help shape the “TRON: Legacy” movie. The game features an epic adventure across a massive digital grid filled with high-mobility disc-based combat and advanced light cycles.

Disney Mobile’s TRON app (www.itunes.com/app/tron) for the iPhone® and iPod® touch is free to download and features an all-new version of the classic Tanks game from the TRON arcade game. The app also features “TRON: Legacy” trailers, pre-sale order information for the TRON: Evolution game, and it will be updated as the premiere of the “TRON: Legacy” film in December draws closer with additional video, music, and free and premium games.

Silly Bandz: Nightmare Before Christmas

Silly Bandz: Nightmare Before Christmas

Lately I’ve been seeing some Silly Bandz-type items at the park — Mickey and friends, Toy Story 3, Princesses, and Halloween. But I found quite possibly the best set I could find: Nightmare Before Christmas. I found them at Tower of Terror gift shop in California Adventure.

Seeings how Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite movie of all time, I absolutely went nuts. I had to have them. I had been wanting to get some Silly Bandz for a while, but I just never got around to it and never saw any that I liked. Now I have the perfect set!

The pack of 12 sells for $4.95. It comes with two of each shape: Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie, the spiral hill, and a tombstone. (I’m wearing a white Jack and green Zero right now.)

If you find these, get them! I don’t think you can find them outside of the Disney parks, and I don’t know if they are only around for Halloween. I had never seen these before. Snag them while they’re still here!

Best things I love about Disney – Finding Nemo the Musical

Best things I love about Disney - Finding Nemo the Musical

The undersea world that charmed audiences around the world in the Disney-Pixar smash-hit film “Finding Nemo” comes to life in a musical stage show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Featuring original songs by Tony Award-winning “Avenue Q” co-composer-creator Robert Lopez and a cappella musical “Along the Way” co-creator Kristen Anderson-Lopez, “Finding Nemo-The Musical” immerses Walt Disney World guests in the story of Marlin and Nemo — an overprotective clownfish father and his curious son — through a dazzling production that combines puppets, dancers, aerialists and animated backdrops.

The visually inventive show represents the first time Disney has taken a non-musical animated feature, as well as the first Pixar film, and transformed it into an original musical production. It is presented in the enclosed 1,500-seat Theater in the Wild, completely redone to accommodate first-class theatrical productions.

During “Finding Nemo-The Musical,” Theater in the Wild becomes a colorful, “coralful” undersea world through innovative lighting, sound, special effects, animated projections, and the theatrical puppetry of Michael Curry, who co-designed the richly detailed character puppets seen in the Broadway version of Disney’s “The Lion King.”

Principal characters such as Marlin, Nemo and Dory are represented by live performers operating animated puppets. Some puppets are larger-than-life — such as Crush, the cool sea turtle, who is nearly the size of a Volkswagen, and Nigel the pelican, who stands 22 feet tall.

Other characters are portrayed by a diverse array of puppetry styles, including rod, Bunraku and shadow. Tap dancing sharks, puppets riding bicycles, and a punk rock routine by Bruce the shark create theatrical magic and fun throughout the big blue world.

The director for the show, Peter Brosius, is artistic director of The Children’s Theatre Company of Minneapolis, winner of the 2003 Regional Theatre Tony Award. The Broadway show “A Year with Frog and Toad,” nominated for the Best Musical Tony Award, originated at The Children’s Theatre Company.

“Finding Nemo-The Musical” is the first major musical produced for Walt Disney World Resort by Disney Creative Entertainment, which has received acclaim for its productions around the world, including “Disney’s Aladdin” (at Disneyland Resort in California), “Festival of the Lion King” (at Hong Kong Disneyland), “Twice Charmed” (on the Disney Cruise Line) and “The Golden Mickeys” (at Hong Kong Disneyland and on the Disney Cruise Line).

“Finding Nemo-The Musical” tells the story of a father clownfish, Marlin, and his son, Nemo, each on a separate journey that ultimately teaches them how to love and understand each other. The two have been separated — and Marlin will stop at nothing to get his son back, facing undersea challenges with his new friend Dory, who swim with the sharks, take on the jellyfish, and ride the current with Crush the turtle. Meanwhile, Nemo, relocated to a fish tank in Sydney, makes new friends who teach him that he’s stronger than he thinks. When news of his father’s heroic journey reaches the tank, Nemo is inspired to do whatever is necessary to escape the tank and see his father again.

“Finding Nemo-The Musical” is a 30-minute show, performed several times daily. Admission to Theater in the Wild is included with regular Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park admission.

Disney Pixar’s CARS 2 Creatives Anchor the 2011 AutoWeek Design Forum Lineup

Two members of the creative team behind some of the most successful animated films by Disney Pixar will speak to Inspiration Behind the Design at the 17th AutoWeek Design Forum.

Brad Lewis and Jay Shuster anchor a day of design insight and inspiration and will talk about their work on CARS 2, due in theaters in summer 2011.

CARS proved not only to be a design tour de force, but it became a cultural icon, an instant classic,” said Dutch Mandel, AutoWeek associate publisher and editorial director. “CARS 2 will take the franchise to the next level, and we have two of the creative geniuses behind it.”

Lewis joined Pixar Animation Studios in November 2001, bringing with him 20 years of film, theater, television and advertising production expertise. Lewis was the producer of Disney Pixar’s Academy Award®-winning film Ratatouille and is currently directing CARS 2, scheduled for a June 24, 2011, release.

Shuster arrived at Pixar in 2002 as a sketch artist, contributing character and environment designs to John Lasseter’s 2006 film CARS and to Andrew Stanton’s WALL-E in 2008. Shuster is currently art-directing Disney Pixar’s sequel to CARS.

The AW Design Forum is a chance for enthusiasts, students and designers to learn about the latest design trends and to network within their field of interest. The event also allows attendees to visit the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) before the general public. The forum will be held on Jan. 13, 2011, at the College for Creative Studies A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education in Detroit, Mich., from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Rounding out the list of speakers is:

  • Michael Warsaw, Vice President, Industrial Design & Marketing, Johnson Controls
  • Philip Lunn, Chairman, PixelMags; CEO, Bunkspeed
  • Frank Stephenson, Design Director, McLaren

As with all AW Design Forums, the Inspiration Behind the Design topic will celebrate design as the ultimate differentiating factor among products, the catalyst of passion and the primary force that drives consumers’ interest and purchase decisions. The event features a continental breakfast, individual morning presentations, design exhibits, networking opportunities, a strolling lunch and afternoon tours of the North American International Auto Show.

The AutoWeek Editors’ Choice Awards, presented during the Design Forum, will recognize the 2011 NAIAS Best in Show, Most Fun, Most Significant and Best Concept vehicles.

Advance registration for the half-day program is $150, all-inclusive. The deadline for online registration is Monday, Jan. 4, 2011. Limited on-site registration will be available during the Design Forum at $200 per person.

The event is sponsored by Johnson Controls, Microsoft and the College for Creative Studies, in association with the NAIAS.
