Disneyland Files Permits for Avengers Campus Expansion

Disneyland is gearing up for a major expansion of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. The park has submitted a plan to the city of Anaheim to begin initial backstage preparations for the project, which aims to double the size of the Marvel-themed land and add two new attractions. City officials are currently reviewing the submitted plan.

Disneyland’s submitted plan outlines preparations for the Avengers Campus expansion, focusing on backstage utilities, temporary trailers, and parking lots. This procedural step, necessary before demolition permits and expansion plans are submitted, aims to address potential impacts on the backstage area behind the current land.

Construction on the new Avengers Campus expansion, including the Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab attractions, is set to begin in 2025. The Avengers Infinity Defense dark ride will transport riders on a world-jumping spaceship through iconic Marvel landscapes and alternate realities. This immersive experience will blend physical sets with cutting-edge media technology to create a thrilling journey through the Marvel multiverse.

The Stark Flight Lab attraction will immerse riders in Tony Stark’s workshop, where they’ll experience the thrill of flight as Iron Man. Mounted on a robotic arm, riders will soar through the air during a simulated flight sequence. Notably, Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his iconic role as Tony Stark/Iron Man for both new Avengers Campus attractions, including the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday” where he’ll portray the villainous Doctor Doom.

Permits filed on November 27th suggest that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge may soon feature new projection effects, possibly for Fire of the Rising Moons.

Four permits were filed for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge:

DLR – Smugglers Run/BLDG #1003 – Tenant Improvement: New projectors on new high curb. With electrical and mechanical.
DLR – Souk Market/BLDG #1001 – Tenant Improvement: New projectors on new high curb. New passive railing on upper roof. Install maintenance access stair from lower roof to upper roof. With electrical and mechanical.
DLR – Oga’s Cantina/BLDG #10060 – Tenant Improvement: New projectors on new high curb. With electrical.
DLR – Village Shops/BLDG #1002 – Tenant Improvement: New projectors on new high curb. Install vertical ladder. Construct steel platform with ladder to support light fixtures. With electrical and mechanical.

The permits call for the installation of new projectors on elevated platforms, potentially hinting at enhanced projection mapping effects. These upgrades could elevate the immersive experience of the Fire of the Rising Moons show or introduce other captivating visual displays throughout Black Spire Outpost.

The Epcot Festival of the Holidays has returned and one of our favorite treats is the Gingerbread Funnel Cake.

Indulge in a festive treat at the Funnel Cake booth! This year, they’re serving up a delicious Gingerbread Funnel Cake topped with creamy vanilla ice cream, crunchy gingerbread crumbs, fluffy whipped cream, and colorful red and green sprinkles.

For $12, the Gingerbread Funnel Cake is a holiday delight. The funnel cake itself is packed with warm gingerbread flavor and has a satisfyingly crispy sugar coating. The vanilla ice cream provides a cool and creamy contrast, and the gingerbread crumbs and sprinkles add a fun textural element. Although it’s a bit pricey, it’s a delicious and festive treat worth trying at EPCOT.

Casting Call for New Little Mermaid Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Walt Disney World has released a casting call for “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” a new production set to debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the coming year.

Disney announced plans for “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” in late 2023 to replace “Voyage of the Little Mermaid,” which never reopened after the 2020 shutdown. Originally slated for a fall 2024 debut, the show has been pushed back to summer 2025. Initial auditions for Ariel, Eric, and puppeteers were held in February 2024, suggesting casting challenges may be contributing to the delay.

Aspiring performers can find the casting call for “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” on DisneyAuditions.com. Disney seeks talented vocalists and actors to fill both full-time and contracted substitute roles.

Ariel: Disney is looking for a talented actress to portray the iconic role of Ariel. The ideal candidate is a 5’2″-5’6″ lyrical pop soprano with a powerful belt to C. She should embody Ariel’s spirit, curiosity, and longing for the human world. Performers are asked to prepare “Part of Your World” for their online audition.Eric: Disney seeks a charismatic and fearless actor to play the role of Prince Eric. The ideal candidate is a 5’10”-6’0″ performer who can embody Eric’s romantic and adventurous spirit.

Santa Has Arrived at EPCOT for the 2024 International Festival of the Holidays

He’s making a list, He’s Checking it twice, He’s gonna…meet guests at EPCOT? The jolly Christmas elf himself, Santa, has arrived at the EPCOT 2024 Festival of the Holidays!

You can find Old Saint Nick inside of the Odyssey Pavilion, which has been outfitted with decorations befitting Santa. The doors of the hall have been decorated with Christmas cheer, alerting guests that Santa can be found within. Inside the hall, Santa can be found greeting guests inside his sleigh, with a selfie wall perfect for snapping some holiday photos located nearby.

The 2024 International Festival of the Holidays is in full swing at EPCOT, and has EPCOT bustling with holiday cheer. One of the must-see installations at this years festival is the Glittering Grove Christmas Tree Display, which can be found in the recently completed CommuniCore Hall.

The installation contains a forest of decorated Christmas trees. Sponsored by Balsam Hill, the display contains the same hyper-realistic artificial tress sold by the vendor. The forest of trees are adorned with star tree toppers, and framed with festive poinsettias.

Gingerbread Spaceship Earth Lights Up for 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays

EPCOT has unveiled a spectacular new addition to its holiday festivities: a towering gingerbread replica of Spaceship Earth. Located in CommuniCore Hall, this edible masterpiece is a highlight of the 2024 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays.

Standing at an impressive eight feet tall, the gingerbread Spaceship Earth is a testament to the artistry and dedication of the EPCOT pastry team, who spent over 160 hours crafting this intricate creation. The edible structure is composed of:

240 pounds of honey dough
100 eggs
100 ounces of lebkuchen spice
55 pounds of dark chocolate
100 pounds of royal icing

The gingerbread sphere is made up of nearly 1,000 individual gingerbread triangles, reminiscent of the geodesic sphere’s iconic design. Guests can even purchase a Spaceship Earth tile gingerbread triangle at the nearby Experimental Prototype Cookies of Tomorrow holiday kitchen.

Adding a touch of Disney magic, the gingerbread Spaceship Earth features 11 hidden Mickeys, each representing one of the World Showcase pavilions.

Every 10 minutes, following a Celebration Countdown presented by CITIZEN, the gingerbread Spaceship Earth illuminates with a captivating light show synchronized to music, mirroring the real Spaceship Earth’s nighttime spectacle.
