Disneyland Workers Union Reaches Tentative Agreement Covering 14,000 Theme Park Employees
A union representing 14,000 Disneyland employees has reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract, preventing a potential strike at the Southern California theme parks.
“We have reached a tentative agreement with Disney,” the Disney Workers Rising Bargaining Committee said in a statement. “We have fought hard for the past four months and this tentative agreement would not have been possible without the strength we showed this past week with our rally and Unfair Labor Practice vote.”
The proposed three-year contract includes significant wage increases, improved seniority benefits, and changes to attendance policies.
While the union is optimistic about the deal, it’s not final until members vote on it next Monday, July 29th, at Disneyland.
Disneyland Resort spokesperson Jessica Good said in an emailed statement, “We care deeply about the wellbeing of our cast members and are pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with Master Services Council that addresses what matters most to our cast while positioning Disneyland Resort for future growth and job creation.”
A coalition of four unions representing approximately 14,000 Disneyland Resort employees has reached a tentative agreement with Disney, averting a potential strike. The workers, including ride operators, custodians, and food service workers, have been negotiating for a new contract since April.
The union coalition, facing challenges including low wages and alleged unfair labor practices by Disney, had recently authorized a strike vote. The tentative agreement comes just days before the scheduled vote. The deal now heads to a union membership vote on July 29th.
While contract negotiations for Disneyland employees have concluded, those for workers at Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney are ongoing, with their current contract expiring in September.

Pixar’s ‘Inside Out 2’ Becomes the Highest-Grossing Animated Film of All Time
Pixar Animation Studios’ “Inside Out 2” has officially claimed the title of the highest-grossing animated film of all time, raking in a staggering $1.46 billion globally. This heartwarming sequel, which delves back into the mind of teenager Riley as she navigates a whirlwind of new emotions, has surpassed the previous record holder, “Frozen II.”
Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, expressed his excitement over the film’s success, stating, “‘Inside Out 2’ is a quintessentially Pixar film, and it’s been amazing to see how it has connected so deeply with people all over the world. We knew it was really special, but no one could have predicted it would reach these record-breaking heights.”
This monumental achievement solidifies The Walt Disney Company’s dominance in the animation world, with seven of the top 10 highest-grossing animated films in history hailing from either Pixar or Walt Disney Animation Studios.
“Inside Out 2” has also etched its name in the overall box office history books, becoming the 13th highest-grossing film of all time globally and recently surpassing $600 million in domestic earnings.
This latest triumph underscores the enduring appeal of Pixar’s storytelling and the universal themes of emotion and connection that resonate with audiences worldwide. As “Inside Out 2” continues to captivate viewers, it solidifies its place as a modern animated classic.
It stands as the highest grossing movie of 2024 to date, and the only one to cross $1 billion.
Inside Out 2 has also been a big hit with critics. The film is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, has an “A” CinemaScore, and a Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 96%.
But the success of Inside Out 2 is more than just box office numbers.
The Walt Disney Company doesn’t just foster cultural events but creates beloved, enduring franchises thanks to the company’s expansive media brand. For example, the original film racked up $859 million in 2015 and earned an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, leading the Inside Out brand to go on to become one of Pixar’s most recognizable titles. The franchise has since expanded to shorts, merchandise, and attractions.
Universal Orlando’s Annual Passholder Nights are proving to be a massive hit once again. Reservations for the exclusive event opened today, and the demand was incredibly hight resulting in the establishment of a virtual queue and some passholders having issues even loading into the webpage! This year, due to overwhelming demand, Universal Orlando has expanded the event to two nights, August 16 and 17, providing even more passholders the chance to enjoy this special experience.
Passholder Nights are available at no additional cost for passholders and feature a variety of attractions and activities. Passholders can enjoy select attractions and venues throughout the park during this free, after-hours party. Special event offerings include the much-loved pizza fries at Louie’s Italian Restaurant, character meet and greets, and a Passholder Nights magnet giveaway.
There has been one significant change made to this year’s event compared to last year: there will be no standby line available. Last year, passholders without reservations could wait in line to see if capacity allowed them entry. This year, if you don’t have a reservation, you won’t be able to get in. This change aims to ensure a smoother and more organized experience for all attendees. Last years attendees complained of high crowds during the event, so this change (along with the extension of the even to 2 nights) seems to be an attempt by Universal to address that issue.
The Passholder Nights are a highlight of Universal Orlando’s Passholder Appreciation Days, presented by Coca-Cola®, running from August 15 to September 30. This annual celebration offers over six weeks of exclusive offers, special events, and more, all designed to show appreciation for Universal Orlando’s dedicated passholders.
Walt Disney World launched its new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass systems yesterday, re-introducing advance selections for its popular “line skip” feature that were initially retired with the transition from Fast Pass+ to Genie+. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom has seen an overwhelming response to this update, with Lightning Lane selections already sold out for the next several days.
Guests attempting to book a Multi Pass Lightning Lane reservation for Tiana’s will note no availability through Sunday, July 28. Disney has confirmed there will be additional oppertunities available via the app later in the day, hinting at the fact not all reservations are necessarily released in advance.
For those unable to secure a Lightning Lane pass, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure can still be accessed via a virtual queue. The standard stand-bye option has not yet been released for the Splash Mountain replacement, and likely will not until the guest demand starts to drop.
Halloween Horror Nights Fans: are you prepared to face the Duality of Fear? This year, a new and chilling addition to Halloween Horror Nights promises to leave guests trembling from the very moment they step into the park. The newly announced Duality of Fear Scare Zone presents an unsettling choice: will you face the visceral horrors of SINIST3R or the unearthly terrors of SURR3AL?
Upon entry, visitors are thrust into a nightmarish dilemma, forced to choose between two equally terrifying paths. Each path offers a unique, spine-chilling experience. SINIST3R plunges you into a world of primal fear, where your deepest, darkest nightmares come to life. Meanwhile, SURR3AL distorts reality, confronting you with supernatural phenomena that defy logic and explanation. Both paths promise to haunt your memories long after you leave the park.
This new scare zone joins the already announced Swamp of the Undead and Torture Faire, adding to the spine-tingling ambiance of Halloween Horror Nights. And that’s not all—this year’s lineup boasts nine out of ten announced haunted houses, each more terrifying than the last.
Among these haunted houses is A Quiet Place, where you’ll navigate a post-apocalyptic world in silence, evading monstrous creatures that hunt by sound. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire transports you to a bone-chilling battle against Garraka and his ghostly army as you strive to prevent a second Ice Age. In Insidious: The Further, you’ll fight to escape a realm of terrifying demons eager to ensnare your soul.
Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America invites you to encounter the blood-sucking Tlahuelpuchi, the owl-faced witch La Lechuza, and the bone-ripping El Silbón, guided by La Muerte herself. Slaughter Sinema 2 takes you through scenes of B-movie horrors at the Carey Drive-in, featuring everything from creature features to grindhouse gore.
At The Museum: Deadly Exhibits, an evil artifact unleashes chaos, while Major Sweets Candy Factory turns a seemingly sweet field trip into a nightmare as children transform into candy-coated killers. The Goblin’s Feast plunges you into a village of bloodthirsty goblins and witches, and Triplets of Terror presents a twisted birthday bash where murder is the main event.
Adding to the frightful fun is the stage show Nightmare Fuel: Nocturnal Circus, an electrifying performance that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
While we eagerly await the theme for the 10th haunted house, two additional scare zones, and the delectable food menus, the excitement continues to build. Tickets for single and multi-night experiences are now on sale, so be sure to grab yours now before your chosen night sells out!
