At “Prom,” every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; “Prom” portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite. For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one “Prom.” Featuring an emerging ensemble cast and a powerful soundtrack, “Prom” hits theaters April 29, 2011.

Disney to Build Luxury "Health Focused" Suites at the Contemporary Resort.

If you’ve ever wanted to combine the luxury of a spa retreat with your Disney World vacation, look no further:  Disney is converting the entire 14th Floor of the Contemporary Resort into a spa retreat, complete with a private yoga studio, concierge service, and special health-conscious menus.  In addition, guests can book one of 23 rooms on that floor, which will be furnished with exercise equipment, low-allergen pillows and mattresses, massage tables, and bamboo floors.

The refurbishment at the Contemporary is part of a pilot project, so if this is a success, expect more changes at your favorite deluxe resorts.  Guests should be able to experience these rooms by November of this year.  In addition to the Contemporary, Disney is refurbishing dozens of rooms at the moderate resorts into “princess” themed rooms in order to keep guests from moving from the moderates to the Animation Suites when they open.

Burger King Brings Marvel Studio’s ‘Thor’ Down to Earth

Burger King Corp. (BKC) has joined forces with Marvel Entertainment to kick off its mighty sponsorship of the comic book-inspired film “Thor,” which hits theaters across the U.S. on May 6. As part of the promotion, fans of the comic can be part of the warrior action with exclusive access to new chapters of the “Thor” comic at BKC’s kid’s website, ClubBK.com. Guests have the ability to unlock one of four, never-before-seen digital comic chapters of “Thor” using the code that comes with the purchase of each BK® Kids Meal, for a limited time only while supplies last. Titled “Valor,” “Wisdom,” “Truth” and “Justice,” the special series serves as a prequel to the film and tells the four-part adventure of a young Thor and his childhood friends.

“Through our work with Marvel, we’re able to offer our younger guests unseen access to this hot property, but we know that the exclusive comic content will also appeal to customers of all ages who follow Thor’s story,” said Andreas Barth, senior vice president, North America marketing, Burger King Corp. “This promotion brings to life our HAVE IT YOUR WAY® experience – allowing guests to be part of the ‘Thor’ action in restaurants and online.”

At participating BURGER KING® restaurants nationwide, kids can bring the power and adventure of “Thor” to life with one of eight BK® Kids Meal premiums – four for girls and four for boys. Kids can create their own stories with figurines depicting key characters from the film or step into the worlds of Thor with accessories inspired by the Warrior Maiden Sif, such as the Asgardian bracelet and headband.

Additionally, the promotion will be supported by in-restaurant merchandising and national television advertising for kids that showcases BKC’s new Chicken Tenders and features footage from the action-packed film “Thor.”

The Tables in Wonderland team just keeps coming up with fun ideas for dinner. This time it’s a “Cairo Dinner Show” at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – and everyone gets to be on stage! Diners will watch the first scene of the live-action show from the first two rows, then the set will open to reveal a beautifully set dining room right on the stage. And while guests dine, the director yells “Action!” and the adventures continue all around the tables.

You’ll be close enough to witness some of the movie-making magic responsible for Indy’s triumphs over epic-scale obstacles. Based on the blockbuster film “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” the show re-creates scenes with more than a dozen stunt performers demonstrating techniques Hollywood uses to fool moviegoers into thinking a favorite celebrity has taken a punch, fall or bullet.

Dinner is inspired by the food of the Middle East (where the movie takes place), served buffet style with salads, hot grilled seasonal veggies, roasted spiced lamb meatballs with cucumber mint raita and harissa, braised chicken breast, Moroccan-spiced seafood tangine, grilled flatbreads, sweets and more. Beer, wine and specialty drinks are included.

The dinner show is 7:30-9:30 p.m. on April 30. Cost is $160 per person plus tax, gratuity included. You will be notified on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Your credit card will be taken over the phone once your reservation is confirmed. Specialty Rooms Will Give Guests The Royal Treatment

New Health and Wellness Suite at Disney’s Contemporary ResortHi everyone. I’m thrilled to start off the day by breaking another exciting announcement here on the Disney Parks Blog about two new Specialty Room offerings coming to the Walt Disney World Resort – health and wellness suites and Royal Guest Rooms.

Beginning this fall, guests looking for some rest and relaxation can indulge in new health and wellness suites, which will debut at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. These suites will feature bamboo flooring, 100-percent cotton linens, non-allergenic wrapped mattresses – as well as great views of Magic Kingdom Park and Bay Lake. Bathrooms on this floor also will be equipped with rainwater showers and tea tree oils.

New Health and Wellness Suite at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Guests staying in these suites also can enjoy the benefit of having cardio equipment right in their room. And they’ll have daily access to seasonal and organic fresh foods at the concierge lounge, and can enjoy yoga sessions and spa treatments at the resort’s renovated wellness studio.

Royal Guest Room at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort

Exciting enhancements also are taking place over at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, with 512 Royal Guest Rooms planned to debut by March 2012. The story behind these lush rooms is that Princess Tiana (“The Princess and The Frog”) invited some of her royal pals – Belle (“Beauty and the Beast”), Jasmine (“Aladdin”) and more – for a vacation getaway. Princes and princesses of all ages can enjoy their luxurious lodging quarters, which will include ornate beds that feature headboards with fiber-optic special effects, and gold and crystal accents. Guests also can enjoy artwork and special mementos left by Tiana’s royal friends.

Pirate-Themed Guest Room at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

These rooms are the latest in Disney’s Specialty Room line, which already includes pirate-themed guest rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Donald Duck-themed rooms at Tokyo Disney Resort, and more. More Specialty Rooms will be added to the collection when Disney’s Art of Animation Resort debuts in May 2012.

Acura and Marvel Entertainment Announce Exclusive Co-Promotion Campaign for THOR

Acura and Marvel Entertainment, LLC announced today the details of their promotional campaign for the blockbuster film THOR. In the luxury automaker’s first partnership with a major motion picture, Acura will have a pivotal role in THOR as the official vehicle of S.H.I.E.L.D.

S.H.I.E.L.D., the fictional worldwide peace-keeping organization of the Marvel Comics Universe, has a leading role in this film portrayal of the iconic comic-book series. Throughout THOR, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents drive various Acura vehicles, including the MDX, ZDX, RL and TL models.

“Acura is thrilled to launch this joint venture with Marvel,” said Susie Rossick, brand manager of Acura National Advertising. “Being the official vehicle of the cutting edge S.H.I.E.L.D. organization is a perfect opportunity to reinforce Acura’s brand philosophy of innovation and advancement.”

THOR, directed by Kenneth Branagh, from a screenplay by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz and Don Payne and a story by J. Michael Straczynski and Mark Protosevich, will be released by Paramount Pictures on May 6, 2011. Acura kicked off its partnership with Marvel on March 14, 2011, at C2E2, Chicago’s Comic & Entertainment Expo, with S.H.I.E.L.D. recruitment booths where recruits were able to take a picture and receive a S.H.I.E.L.D. ID badge. The booths will be on display this week at the New York Auto Show and Pier 83, including a S.H.I.E.L.D.-embellished Acura TL at both locations.

Acura’s interactive website for THOR, , will serve as the hub of the national advertising campaign and will allow fans to immerse themselves in the world of THOR as actual S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Users can receive their official ID badge, post it on Facebook and climb the ranks within the organization by completing assigned case files to earn the chance to win rewards like movie tickets, iPad® 2 tablet computers, LiveScribe “smart pens” or the grand prize of an exclusive evasive-driving experience. Fans can also build their own virtual S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicle with over-the-top features to aid in their online adventure.

Social media will be leveraged throughout the campaign to recruit THOR fans to join S.H.I.E.L.D. The Acura Facebook page will also feature THOR content, including videos co-produced with Marvel.

The advertising campaign, developed by Acura’s agency of record, rp&, a division of RPA, is composed of a multiplatform media buy, retail tie-ins and national ABC screenings of THOR with after-parties in select markets. The newly refined 2012 Acura TL will be featured throughout the campaign, including a 30-second TV spot which incorporates the new vehicle with scenes from THOR. The spot will run on network sports and spot TV, as well as across 18 cable networks such as ESPN, Adult Swim and Comedy Central.

Acura will release unique S.H.I.E.L.D.-themed video and content across several websites to drive traffic to and recruit users to join S.H.I.E.L.D. The “recruitment” theme will be seen on Marvel’s website, http://marvel.com/, Fandango’s THOR page and Facebook advertising, but also in unexpected places such as LinkedIn.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.  It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Disney Princess Plastic Racing Trikes

Units: About 9,000 in the U.S. and 700 in Canada

Manufacturer: Kiddieland Toys Limited, of Scituate, Mass.

Hazard: The plastic castle display and the princess figures protruding from the top of the handle bar pose a laceration hazard if a child falls on it.

Incidents/Injuries: CPSC and Kiddieland have received three reports of children suffering facial lacerations.

Description: This recall involves the Disney Princess Plastic Racing Trikes. The trikes are pink and fuschia with a purple seat and wheels. On top of the handlebar, there is a rotating castle display surrounded by three princess figures. “Disney Princess” is printed on the label in front of the trike just below the handlebar.

Sold at: Target, JCPenney, Meijer and H.E.B. stores nationwide and on the Web at www.target.com. from January 2009 through April 2011 for about $50.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the trikes away from children and contact Kiddieland for a free replacement handlebar with an enclosed rotating display.
