Refreshed Look for Hotel du Canada as Scaffolding Comes Down at EPCOT’s Canada Pavilion
The Hotel du Canada in EPCOT’s Canada Pavilion is stepping back into the spotlight with a fresh new look as scaffolding begins to come down. Since June, crews have been busy refurbishing this iconic structure, and now guests can enjoy the first glimpses of the revamped façade as the refurbishment project nears completion.
Significant changes are already visible. The stone walls of the hotel have been repainted with a richer gray tone, enhancing its rugged, natural appearance. Meanwhile, the roof has taken on a rusted green shade, replacing the previous tan coloring, giving it the patina of aged copper and lending an authentic charm to the building. Crews also restored the windows and dormers on the upper floors, adding a polished finish to the historic design.
Inspired by Ottawa’s famed Château Laurier hotel, the Hotel du Canada serves as a centerpiece for the pavilion, standing proudly amid its breathtaking surroundings. Disney describes the Canada Pavilion as a tribute to the country’s natural beauty, featuring stunning landmarks like the Rocky Mountains, a cascading 30-foot waterfall, and lush grounds inspired by Victoria’s Butchart Gardens. The pavilion’s immersive design provides guests with a journey “north” unlike any other, blending natural and man-made wonders seamlessly.
Pandora – The World of Avatar Dazzles with Unique Christmas Decor for 2024
The immersive wonderland of Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has embraced the holiday spirit once again, transforming into a festive spectacle for Christmas 2024. True to its theme, the decorations throughout Pandora highlight the ingenuity of its residents, blending natural materials and “found objects” to create a uniquely otherworldly holiday atmosphere.
Guests will find garlands and star-shaped ornaments crafted from the vibrant flora of Pandora adorning a merchandise kiosk, seamlessly blending the land’s bioluminescent charm with seasonal cheer. Over at Windtraders, the imposing AMP suit has gotten a jolly makeover. Donning a Santa hat and a whimsical white beard made of rope, the AMP suit is decked out with string lights draped over its shoulders, adding a touch of holiday whimsy to its industrial frame. Around the AMP suit, strings of decorations crisscross the space, featuring intricate wooden figures of banshees and other iconic Pandora creatures. Wreaths wrapped with vibrant red ribbons add another festive flourish.
The imaginative minds of the ACE (Alpha Centauri Expeditions) employees have crafted Christmas lights from work lights, showcasing their resourceful spirit. Guests will also spot unique ornaments, including a sign for the Pandora Conservation Initiative and even a retro Santa figure that adds a nostalgic touch to the futuristic setting.
Pandora’s holiday decorations create a magical blend of Na’vi traditions and human creativity, making it a must-see destination for anyone visiting Walt Disney World this Christmas season. Be sure to stop by after dark, when the bioluminescent glow of Pandora’s environment enhances the holiday lights, creating an unforgettable holiday experience!
The Haunted Mansion is currently in its holiday overlay, Haunted Mansion Holiday, which will run until January 6, 2025. Following the holiday season, the attraction will close for refurbishment and is scheduled to reopen on January 18, 2024.
The Haunted Mansion Holiday, which opened in July 2024, utilized a virtual queue system as the regular queue was still under construction. Since the attraction’s closure, rumors have circulated about major changes to the regular Haunted Mansion. One notable change is the alleged replacement of the iconic hanging corpse with a projection on the tarp typically used for the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay.
Further rumors circulating about the Haunted Mansion refurbishment indicate that the Hitchhiking Ghosts effect may be updated to use CGI technology, similar to the version found at Walt Disney World. Although Disney has not officially confirmed a reopening date, the Disneyland website currently lists January 18, 2024, as the anticipated return date.
Are you looking forward to the regular version of Haunted Mansion returning?

Disney’s “Protect the Pride” Campaign Roars Back for Mufasa: The Lion King
The iconic roar of Simba is about to echo through theaters once again, but this time, it’s his father Mufasa taking center stage. To celebrate the upcoming release of Mufasa: The Lion King on December 20th, 2024, Disney has relaunched its global “Protect the Pride” conservation campaign.
This initiative aims to double the lion population in the wild by 2050, a crucial mission considering Africa has lost half its lions since the original Lion King debuted 30 years ago.
Without lions, there truly is no Lion King. “Protect the Pride” works with the Wildlife Conservation Network’s (WCN) Lion Recovery Fund (LRF) to support communities across Africa and ensure a future for these majestic creatures.
A History of Success
Launched in 2019, the campaign has already yielded impressive results. LRF has funded over 300 projects across 25 African countries, with at least half showing stable or increasing lion populations. Additionally, the initiative has:
Supported livelihoods and employed thousands.
Removed over 83,000 harmful snares.
Fostered collaboration between communities and wildlife conservation efforts.
Looking to the Future
With the relaunched campaign, LRF plans to:
Invest in innovative lion recovery projects.
Restore critical landscapes.
Support sustainable economic development in African communities.
Create a future where humans and lions can thrive together.

The news about the parade was shared by Scott Gustin on X:
Magic Happens will not return to Disneyland Resort in 2025. I'm really excited for Paint the Night to return – but hopefully we see Magic Happens return in 2026. pic.twitter.com/BdT5XmQR9O
The Magic Happens parade, which ended its 2024 run early on August 22nd, was one of several entertainment cuts at Disneyland Resort this year. Other cuts included the premature closure of Club Pixar and the “Dr. Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts” experience.
With the imminent return of Paint the Night for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration, it has been confirmed that Magic Happens will not return in 2025. This will mark the first time Disneyland has not featured a daytime parade during a major anniversary celebration. Paint the Night originally debuted in 2015 for the park’s 60th anniversary.
While there’s speculation about a potential return in 2026, no official announcement has been made regarding Magic Happens. Some of the parade’s floats have reportedly been dismantled. Originally debuting in 2020 for Disneyland’s 65th anniversary, Magic Happens faced interruptions due to the pandemic. It finally returned in 2023 with a partially original cast.
The award-winning Magic Happens parade, while initially well-received, encountered a series of issues during its 2023 run. From technical difficulties, such as the finale float getting stuck and audio system failures, to controversies surrounding Moana’s “Hula” choreography and the replacement of the impressive Pepita puppet with a float, the parade’s journey was far from smooth sailing. Even a humorous incident involving Merlin losing his shoe added to the parade’s troubled history.

Walt Disney’s Grandkids Approve of New Animatronic for Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Show
Walt Disney’s grandchildren have expressed their approval of the “stellar” and “accurate” audio-animatronic recreation of their grandfather, which will be the star attraction of a new show coming to Disneyland in 2025.
“Walt Disney – A Magical Life” will debut at the Main Street Opera House theater at Disneyland park on May 16, 2025. The attraction will feature a cinematic presentation of Walt Disney’s journey, culminating in a visit with Walt in his office, brought to life for the first time ever through the magic of Audio-Animatronics storytelling.
”Creating an Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney is an enormous responsibility and one that we take incredibly seriously,” according to a Disneyland spokesperson. “We are bringing the same care, research and respect to Walt Disney as Walt himself did when he advanced the technology he pioneered by creating the Abraham Lincoln figure for the 1964 New York World’s Fair and ultimately ‘Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln’ at Disneyland Resort. We continue to push the artform and technology in every way possible to ensure that this tribute is done right.”
The board of directors of the Walt Disney Family Museum, which includes five of Walt Disney’s grandchildren and three of his great-grandchildren, has expressed their support for the creation of the new audio-animatronic figure for the “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” show coming to Disneyland.
“We are enthusiastic about, and grateful for, the company’s efforts to create this exciting new attraction that will allow people to experience Walt Disney, the man behind the magic,” Walt Disney Family Museum executive director Kirsten Komoroske said in a statement.
In July 2023, Disneyland and Walt Disney Imagineering invited the board of directors of the Walt Disney Family Museum to witness the progress on the Walt Disney audio-animatronic project. Chris Miller, one of Walt’s grandsons, expressed his admiration for the team’s dedication to accuracy in a statement released by the museum. He stated, “Their work to that point was stellar and they were very eager to be as accurate as possible in creating this. We came away confident that this is the right group to take on this important project.”
Tamara Miller, one of Walt Disney’s granddaughters, expressed confidence that her grandfather would have approved of the audio-animatronic recreation created by Imagineering. In a statement released by the Walt Disney Family Museum, she said, “We believe that our grandfather would have been enthusiastic about the project and fascinated by the advancements of the audio-animatronics technology that was first developed during his days at WED (now Imagineering) — a technology that he was always passionate about.”
While some members of the Walt Disney family have expressed enthusiasm for the audio-animatronic project, others have voiced concerns. Joanna Miller, one of Walt’s granddaughters, has taken a strong stance against the project, launching a letter-writing campaign to persuade Imagineering to abandon their plans. In a Facebook post, she argued that creating an animatronic likeness of Walt Disney would be disrespectful and dehumanizing. She also cited conversations with retired Imagineers, who shared that Walt himself had expressed a desire not to be immortalized in such a way.
What do you think about an animatronic of Walt Disney?

Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke Stars in Coldplay’s Heartwarming New Video
At nearly 99 years old, Dick Van Dyke continues to captivate audiences with his charisma, humor, and timeless talent. The beloved star of Mary Poppins and The Dick Van Dyke Show takes center stage in Coldplay’s new music video for their ballad All My Love, offering fans an intimate and heartfelt glimpse into his life and legacy.
Filmed at Van Dyke’s Malibu home, the seven-minute director’s cut, co-directed by Mary Wigmore and Spike Jonze, weaves together poignant reflections, lighthearted moments, and unforgettable performances. The video showcases the actor dancing, reminiscing, and even singing alongside Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, their camaraderie shining through every frame.
Van Dyke, surrounded by memorabilia from his illustrious seven-decade career, reflects on his journey with humility and gratitude. Old photographs, including iconic shots from The Dick Van Dyke Show with Mary Tyler Moore, and a display of his Emmy Awards serve as reminders of his enduring impact on the entertainment industry. One particularly moving scene features Van Dyke gazing at a photo of his daughter Stacy, recalling dreams in which she comforts him during moments of despair—a tender reflection on the love he shares with his family.
Throughout the video, Van Dyke’s playful spirit takes center stage. He joins Martin in a duet of All My Love, quipping about hitting the right notes and laughing at their attempts to harmonize. The highlight comes as the actor dances barefoot with his wife, Arlene Silver, both sporting matching bowler hats in a joyful nod to his trademark whimsy. Later, his “very large family,” including grandchildren, gathers for a heartfelt chorus, bringing the video to a celebratory close.
In one humorous exchange, Van Dyke is asked to think about the people who’ve meant the most to him. He closes his eyes, only to joke, “I’m too old for this, I’ll pass out and go to sleep,” before playfully pretending to nod off. These moments of humor underline his enduring ability to bring joy and laughter to all who watch him.
Reflecting on aging, Van Dyke remarks, “I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now, but I’m not afraid. I have the feeling that I’m going to be alright.” It’s this profound yet lighthearted outlook that makes his appearance in the video so resonant.
The video ends with Martin improvising a song about aging, with Van Dyke marveling at his musical prowess and joining in on the fun. The moment encapsulates the spirit of the project—a celebration of love, life, and laughter.
This collaboration comes ahead of Van Dyke’s milestone 99th birthday on December 13, when a shorter version of the video will be released. It’s a fitting tribute to a man who has brought so much light to the world. As Van Dyke himself puts it, “I got to do what I do—play and act silly. When you think how lucky I am…”
Coldplay’s All My Love is part of their 10th studio album, Moon Music, which debuted at number one in October. The video is now streaming on Coldplay’s YouTube channel, offering fans a touching portrait of a legend who continues to inspire generations.
