Yo Ho It’s Jake and the Neverland Pirates!

Yo Ho It's Jake and the Neverland Pirates!

A new soundtrack and DVD inspired by Disney Junior‘s #1 series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, are planned to set sail this September with Walt Disney Records’ album release of eighteen hook-filled songs from the series on September 20 and The Walt Disney Studios “Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away!” DVD release featuring seven episodes from the series on September 27.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates is cable’s #1 series among Boys 2-5 and is on track to be Disney Channel’s #1 preschool series ever. It is the most co-viewed series among all Disney Junior and Nickelodeon series, with 47% of Moms watching with their preschooler. A music-filled interactive treasure hunt, the series introduces a crew of kid pirates – leader Jake and pals Izzy and Cubby – and follows their Never Land adventures as they work to outwit two infamous characters, the one and only Captain Hook and Smee, from Disney’s classic “Peter Pan.” Every episode features the animated Sharky and Bones characters as they pop up throughout to perform original pirate ditties, and each episode concludes with a live action music video featuring The Never Land Pirate Band.

About the Album Release:
Written and performed by Loren Hoskins and Kevin Hendrickson, a.k.a. Sharky and Bones of The Never Land Pirate Band, the album features 18 swashbuckling tracks sure to thrill any young pirate. Also included are downloadable activities and games to plan the perfect pirate party, a Sing-Along version of the show’s theme song and a bonus track from a future episode. The deluxe edition includes a pirate bandana. The album arrives at stores and online retailers September 20.

The album features a variety of songs that kids and parents can enjoy together. Songs include the kooky, comical “Hot Lava,” “Aw Coconuts,” “Pirate Password,” and the arrrghhh-rated “Talk Like a Pirate.” Some songs refer to popular characters in the show, such as “What’s Cookin’ Smee,” “Captain Hook (Is A Cranky Crook),” “Tick Tock Croc” and “Bucky’s Shanty.” Others capture the island spirit of Never Land, such as “Castaway on Pirate Island,” “Shipwreck Shuffle” and “Never Sky,” as well as the “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” theme song. All songs can be heard in episodes of the show.

Portland, Oregon-based Hoskins and Hendrickson have been creating pirate rock music for kids of all ages for more than a decade. The duo produced four previous children’s albums and even led their own pirate band. The pirate rockers also provide the musical score for “Jake and the Never Land Pirates.”

The Jake and the Never Land Pirates soundtrack will be available wherever music is sold on September 20. For more information on Walt Disney Records’ releases, please visit www.Disney.com/music, become a fan at www.Facebook.com/disneymusicor follow us at www.Twitter.com/disneymusic.

About the DVD Release:
On September 27, The Walt Disney Studios will be releasing Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away!, a DVD packed full with seven episodes from the series and two incredible bonus features including Yo Ho, You Want To Be A Pirate?, where Jake teaches viewers how to talk like a pirate, and Pirate Party With Pirate-oke, a collection of music videos performed by The Never Land Pirate Band that allow viewers to enjoy with or without the sing-along/karaoke-like feature.

Retailing for the suggested price of $19.99 in the U.S. and $24.99 in Canada, the Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away! DVD also comes packaged with a bonus 7-track CD sampler and a pirate eye patch.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Returns Sept. 13 with 23 Nights of Halloween Fun

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Returns Sept. 13 with 23 Nights of Halloween Fun

Halloween’s happiest haunts will be reappearing for a season of “spook-tacular” fun as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returns to the Magic Kingdom for 23 select nights between Sept. 13 and Nov. 1, 2011.

The after-hours Magic Kingdom party will once again be immersed in the Halloween spirit, including two entertainment spectaculars created especially for the event:

  • Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade proceeds down Main Street, U.S.A., heralded by the Headless Horseman and his trusty steed, and trailed by a cavalcade of holiday-themed characters, from Mickey and the gang to Disney villains and the stars of the Haunted Mansion (but make sure to watch out for Hitchhiking Ghosts!).
  • The bewitching “Happy HalloWishes” fireworks spectacular illuminates the sky in bursts of orange and green fireworks, while Cinderella Castle is draped in eerie hues and ghostly apparitions flit along the park’s rooftops.

The Boo-to-you Parade takes place at 8:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. with HalloWishes Fireworks Spectacular in between at 9:30 p.m. Special lighting, music and theming effects combine to transform areas of the park into happy haunted hollows.

The night of ever-so-slightly-frightful fun begins at 7 p.m. and runs until midnight, with guests encouraged to don their favorite Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat around the Magic Kingdom theme park.

In addition to Land-to-Land trick-or-treating, meet and greets with characters and entertainment unique to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, many popular Magic Kingdom attractions — including, of course, Haunted Mansion — are available to experience.

Party dates in 2011 are: Sept. 13, 16, 20, 23, 27 and 30; Oct. 2, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30 and 31; and Nov. 1.

To purchase advance tickets, guests can visit disneyworld.com/halloween or call 407/W-DISNEY. Advance purchase (prior to event day) savings of $6 per ticket are available for Sept. 13, 16, 20, 23, 27, and 30; Oct. 2, 6, 10, 11, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25 and 27; and Nov. 1.

Port Orleans French Quarter – a Perfect WDW Getaway Spot For Adults

Port Orleans French Quarter – a Perfect WDW Getaway Spot For Adults

One of the biggest challenges in planning a Walt Disney World Vacation for adults is picking which resort to stay at. Personally, I know I am looking for someplace quiet, scenic, and moderately inexpensive when I go to book my vacation Port Orleans French Quarter is the WDW Resort that meets all these criteria and more:

Setting: The resort has a Mardi Gras/New Orleans theme, and it really showcases the New Orleans French Quarter style architecture and atmosphere. The resort is smaller (by about half!), quieter, and more beautiful than a lot of its comparable lodging counterparts.

Rooms: All the rooms were recently renovated to include 2 queen beds (a step up from other resorts that offer 2 doubles) as well as new linens and decor, and in total there are about 1,000 guest rooms spread around 7 buildings

Romance: The resort is sophisticated (without being too snobby) and quiet, with a lot of romantic spots. There are fountains, beautiful landscaping and soft lighting throughout the resort grounds that make a stroll along the cobblestone streets of the Sassagoula River a must for couples

Transportation: The resort has bus access to all major points of WDW (theme parks, water parks, etc), but it also has something that no other moderate resorts have – a ferry service directly to Downtown Disney (which makes it easy to hop over to Downtown Disney for some shopping or great restaurants and entertainment)

Recreation: The resort offers boat and bike rentals, as well as a swimming pool and walking/jogging paths, and it also offers nightly carriage rides and live entertainment on certain evenings in the hotel bar

Food: Port Orleans French Quarter is the only place at WDW that serves up authentic New Orleans style foods like gumbo and beignets (amazing pastries that are like a donut only fluffier!) at their food court. In addition, they have all the standard Disney food court fare (burgers, pizza, salads, sandwiches, pasta, etc)

Value: Being a ‘moderate’ resort means that POFQ is neither the cheapest, nor the most expensive resort on WDW property. I have, in the past, been a subscriber to the “who care what the room looks like you barely spend anytime in it anyway” philosophy, but once I saw Port Orleans French Quarter, I have to admit I changed my tune – it is definitely worth the step up in price from the value resorts, you get a lot more for not that much more money

Bottom line is, If you can’t decide where to stay at WDW and are looking for a slightly more ‘grown up’ place where you can relax and enjoy your serene surroundings, I urge you to check out Port Orleans French Quarter, you will be glad you did

Flaming Bus Apocolypse Shuts Down Magic Kingdom Buses.

Flaming Bus Apocolypse Shuts Down Magic Kingdom Buses.

A bus fire at the Magic Kingdom bus terminal area shut down bus transportation briefly yesterday, forcing guests to ride the monorail and boats. Which, lets be honest, is a lot more fun than taking a bus.

Buses were back up and running within the hour and there were no reports of injuries.  However, a reporter from the Orlando Sentinel was taken to the hospital after being overcome with pure joy at the thought of writing a headline that disparages the Disney company.  He was last seen shouting  “Get me my copy editor!  The flames, the flames. They’re shooting into the SKY!!!!”

And that’s all the salacious Disney news we have for now.

Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps Offers a Patriotic Tribute

Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps Offers a Patriotic Tribute

“Actually, if you could see close in my eyes, the American flag is waving in both of them and up my spine is growing this red, white, and blue stripe,” – Walt Disney

Throughout his career, Walt Disney often expressed the pride he had in his country and this certainly shows through today at several attractions and entertainment offerings at Disney Parks. Attractions like Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln at Disneyland park, The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom Park and The American Adventure at Epcot showcase some of the historic milestones our nation has overcome in the name of liberty.

In honor of Patriot Day, we’d like to present a special performance by the Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps, which celebrates our nation’s quest for freedom at the American Adventure Pavilion at Epcot. Here they are performing “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

Chapek has been visionary on technological issues, and oversees the development of various new technologies including next generation high-definition Blu-ray Disc, in home 3D solutions, and interoperability solutions such as KeyChest and digital distribution.

In his previous role as president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, Chapek led the organization to record-setting performances on numerous movie titles. He has played a key role in the commercialization of Disney’s live-action and animated direct-to-video business.
