DVD Review: Debby Ryan stars in Radio Rebel

DVD Review: Debby Ryan stars in Radio Rebel

Diversity, Embracing Who You Are, Be Yourself, Believe in Yourself all things you want your kids and pre-teens thinking about and embracing. Enter the new Disney Channel Movie, Radio Rebel, stage right.

Tara, played by Debby Ryan, is perhaps one of the shyest characters I’ve ever seen played on Disney Channel. She can barely get a word out to anybody other than her BFF, Audrey (played by Sarena Parmar). however, like most teenagers, there’s more than one side to Tara. And it appears that she has “found her voice” doing an anonymous podcast as “Radio Rebel” that has become immensely popular at her high school long before the story picks up.

Her new stepfather, who happens to be a producer at the struggling Seattle radio station, SLAM, discovers that Tara is Radio Rebel and hires her, on the spot, to begin working at the radio station.

Activision & Disney team up for Wreck it Ralph Video Game

Activision & Disney team up for Wreck it Ralph Video Game

Get ready for classic arcade video game action with a whole new modern look and feel as Activision Publishing Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard Inc., and Disney Interactive today announced a collaboration to produce and distribute a Wreck-It Ralph(TM) video game. As a story extension to the highly anticipated upcoming blockbuster film of the same name from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the Wreck-It Ralph video game is set to inspire a whole new generation of young gamers as a classic, arcade-style side scroller featuring Ralph – the misunderstood villain of his own arcade game who sets out to prove he can be a hero too. Debuting this fall tied to the movie release, Wreck-It Ralph will bring all the fun from the big screen right into the living room for the Wii(TM) system from Nintendo, and the Nintendo 3DS(TM) and Nintendo DS(TM) hand-held systems.

“Wreck-It Ralph, as a brand entity, is perfectly suited for video game stardom,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President, Activision Publishing. “With the fantastic characters and creative atmosphere envisioned by Walt Disney Animation Studios, we know fans are going to love seeing their newfound favorite characters embark on an all-new side scrolling adventure.”

From the mind of Director Rich Moore (“The Simpsons,” “Futurama”), the film chronicles the journey of Ralph, the bad guy in an arcade game who sets out to prove he can be the hero after all. However Ralph mistakenly reverts to his clumsy nature and “wrecks” everything once again, unleashing a deadly enemy threat onto his video game neighbors. The movie hits theaters on November 2, 2012 and features an all-star voice cast, including John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch.

The game picks up where the movie leaves off as Ralph partners with Fix-It Felix and sets out to save their friends and home from a huge Cy-Bug invasion. Pounding through all-new levels in the “Wreck-It Ralph” universe, like Sugar Rush, Hero’s Duty, and Fix-It Felix, Jr., players will have to use Ralph’s destructive strength to beat by the Cy-Bugs, while switching back to Felix to repair the damage. With story campaign and two-player co-op on the Wii platform, players can switch between Ralph and Felix to solve action-packed puzzles and collect “Hero Medals”.

Enjoying Chef Mickey’s As An Adult Diner

Enjoying Chef Mickey's As An Adult Diner

Over the years, Chef Mickey’s has gotten a not-so-amazing reputation, mostly for the food not being great, and it also has become known as a place that’s really just for kids and families

Personally, I completely disagree with both of those statements – I happen to love the food, and as an adult I love going there and enjoying the atmosphere they have to offer.

So why should you, an adult who can pick any place in Walt Disney World to eat, choose to eat at Chef Mickey’s?

Well, there are definitely some really good reasons:

Be Our Guest Restaurant Menu and Reservations Info

Be Our Guest Restaurant Menu and Reservations Info

Great news! Guests can start making reservations for Disney’s Be Our Guest Restaurant in late August, with the restaurant to be open for the holidays.

Lunch will be quick service, but not traditional counter service. Guest-activated terminals make ordering a snap, there also will be traditional cashiers for cash orders and special dietary requests. You order, take a seat and lunch is delivered to your table – on china, not paper plates.

The Menu is all about simple, fresh ingredients such as sandwiches and salads but all with a twist that transports you to the French setting of ‘Beauty and the Beast.’”

Disney Confidential - New Key to the World Cards are coming

Hey there guys and gals Anonymouse here.

Have some interesting news today about those wonderful little keepsakes your Key to the World Card. While I know many of you hold on to yours from past trips, and probably like myself have a stack about 4 inches tall. Disney plans on doing away with our old pieces of plastic to make way for new RFID enabled cards. Which I believe are one step closer to the Disney Wristbands. (See below for more info)

Travel Rentals for Babies and Toddlers

Travel Rentals for Babies and Toddlers

Traveling with a baby or toddler to Walt Disney World requires a lot of gear, even if you choose to fly.  Why would you rent baby equipment?  For some people, they would prefer a crib over a pack and play at their resort.  Others may need a stroller because it’s one less thing that they want to pack in their car or haul through the airport.    A reader recently posted on the Chip & Co Facebook page this question:

“Is there anywhere in or around Disney that I can rent a infant car seat? I will be traveling with a 9 month old in October. I am flying in but have access to a non-rental car once I am there.”

What a great question!  Here are some tips and ideas for rentals around Disney to make traveling with your young one easier.

1.  Consider checking your own car seat at the gate.  Airports will allow you to check your car seat and stroller right at the gate.  You simply take it there, and they will give you a gate check tag to attach to the car seat or stroller.  When you get off the plane in Orlando, your car seat and/or stroller will be right there waiting for you.  Babies R Us or other baby stores carry covers you can use to zip over your car seat and some have wheels and a carrying strap so it’s easy to transport around the airport.

2.  A Baby’s Best Friend is a baby equipment rental company in the Orlando area.  They rent both toddler and infant car seats, as well as cribs, strollers, and about any other baby gear you can think of.  While they don’t deliver to the airport, they will arrange a meeting place outside of the airport to get you your car seat or other baby gear.  An infant car seat rental price is $30-$45, depending on how long you need it.

3.  Kingdom Strollers is HIGHLY recommended by Chip & Co, as well as the Disney Mom’s Panel.  They rent Citi brand strollers {which is probably why you see so many around WDW} for $30-$55, depending on the length of your rental.  They also rent cribs and will deliver your stroller or crib to your resort or surrounding Orlando hotel.  They have unbelievable customer service and are very dependable.

4.  Baby’s Away will rent ANY type of baby equipment you need.  Bumbo seats, high chairs, cribs, strollers, car seats, bouncy seats, exer saucer….you name it and they’ll rent it to you.  At Baby’s Away, an infant car seat is around $36 a week.

Unless you check your car seat through at the gate, it could be a challenge to arrange picking up your car seat or stroller.  Most places will drop it off at your resort, or possibly meet you at a location near the airport.  It’s always a good idea to read reviews and testimonials from a rental company before going with them.  Your little one’s safety should always come first!
