Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion 15th Anniversary Edition Coming to Blu-Ray August 7, 2012

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion 15th Anniversary Edition Coming to Blu-Ray August 7, 2012

Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is celebrating a reunion of sorts, as it rings in its 15th anniversary with a Blu-Ray release on August 7, 2012.  It’s hard to believe that it has been 15 years since Romy and Michele went to that unforgettable reunion!  It’s time to kick up your heels and celebrate the 15th anniversary of a hilarious comedy hit starring Academy Award(R) winner Mira Sorvino (Best Supporting Actress, 1995, MIGHTY APHRODITE) and Emmy Award(R) winner Lisa Kudrow (Outstanding Supporting Actress, Comedy, 1998, FRIENDS). Experience the fun, the laughs and the sizzling soundtrack like never before on Blu-ray with an all-new digital restoration! Romy and Michele are carefree party girls who reinvent themselves for their 10-year high school reunion. Their plan is working perfectly until a former classmate (Janeane Garofalo) blabs their real story to everyone. But Romy and Michele have one more big surprise up their sleeves. This is one reunion you won’t want to miss.

‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ Comes to Second Screen

'Marvel's The Avengers' Comes to Second Screen

Hot off the success of ‘The Avengers’, Marvel has decided to take the movie to the next level by releasing a new second screen application for the film. Second screen gives you a new way to interact with your movies while you watch. You can sync up things like your laptop and iPad to your blu-ray, and once their connected and the movie begins, the app will give you the chance to play games, get cool new trivia about the film, and explore different galleries that pertain to the movie. This is definitely something I’m excited for, especially for a movie like ‘The Avengers’. It really lets you dig deeper into the film in a way you haven’t before, while you watch the movie. This definitely has the chance to be something great, and I can’t wait to get my copy of ‘The Avengers’ this September and try it out. Hit the jump for more info and a look at some exclusive new features.

To Cirque or Not to Cirque THAT is the Question !?

To Cirque or Not to Cirque THAT is the Question !?

I was recently in Disney with my travel agency (Pixie Vacations) and we were treated by Disney to a Cirque Du Soleil La Nouba show at  Downtown Disney. I had heard of Cirque Du Soleil before but had never thought twice about going.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a HUGE theater lover and enjoy live performances, I guess the ticket price ($61.00-$120 per person)  and time it would take out of my vacation always convinced me to sit this one out.

I must say that this show BLEW me away!!! It quite honestly was one of the most visually stimulating and entertaining 90 minutes of live theater I have ever experienced in my life.

The talent that is present on the stage is absolutely breathtaking. From the minute it starts until the minute it ends you are on the edge of your seat and quite often have to pick your jaw up off of the floor for what you are experiencing.

There is some audience participation (don’t let that scare you), acrobatics that are out of this world, comedy, a little something for everyone in your family.

Embrace the magic, the wonder, the romance of Disney World

Embrace the magic, the wonder, the romance of Disney World

Who doesn’t like a little romance?  Whatever the stage of your relationship, it is time you learn to embrace the magic, the wonder, the romance of Disney World.  There are so many opportunities for romance in the parks!  From dining to attractions and everything in between, Disney has got it all!  Today, I’ve come up with what I am going to call my dream Disney day.  Maybe one of these days I’ll get to put it to use at what I find to be one of the most magically romantic spots in the world!  Until my prince comes, a girl can dream (and dream BIG).

Start your day EARLY!   Get up, get out of bed!  Don’t sleep away your day.  Being up early will give you some quiet time for a romantic stroll or breakfast with your loved one!  You’ll avoid wasting your precious time together and in the parks!   So now that we took care of that detail, let’s get started!

It all starts with a romantic breakfast…

Disney On Ice Presents Rockin Ever After with Merida from Brave

Disney On Ice Presents Rockin Ever After with Merida from Brave

Mickey and Minnie have searched the globe for the hippest and hottest acts to perform in the most sensational talent showcase to rock the ice, Disney On Ice presents Rockin’ Ever After. This new ice spectacular will launch a North American tour performing in more than 70 cities beginning on August 31, 2012 in Lakeland, Fla. Tickets for all 2012 engagements will go on sale July 20, 2012.

In a new twist on fairytale fun, favorite Disney characters compete to be the next superstar in comical segments leading up to the tales of show stopping princesses – Ariel, Rapunzel, Belle, and Merida from Disney•Pixar’s BRAVE in her ice debut!

“The most exciting part of bringing a fearless and independent character like Merida to the ice for the first time is knowing that she has a powerful and inspiring message to deliver about finding the courage to determine one’s own fate,” says Producer Nicole Feld. “We think her story translates well to the ice and will really resonate with today’s audience.”

Produced by Feld Entertainment, Rockin’ Ever After remixes the stories of Disney’s most adventurous heroines with upbeat music and energetic choreography that will have audiences singing, dancing and cheering for their beloved Disney idols. Mickey and Minnie encounter the most talented performers in the land with an all-star lineup that includes Sebastian and the Daughters of Triton from The Little Mermaid, the rowdy pub thugs from Tangled and the spunky enchanted servants from Beauty and the Beast. The journey continues to the Scottish highlands where audiences will be captivated and star struck by Merida, as an exhilarating archery contest ensues for the right to marry the fiery redhead.

“Our challenge in developing Rockin’ Ever After was figuring out how to highlight moments from these beloved stories in a way that reflects the type of entertainment that families value today,” says Producer Juliette Feld. “By pulling elements from the talent show trend on contemporary television, we developed a truly unique way to lead into each fairytale.”

Sister producers Nicole Feld and Juliette Feld have composed their own lineup of talent to create this star studded skating extravaganza:

  • Patty Vincent (Director) – Directed numerous Feld Entertainment ice and stage shows including Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream; began her career at Feld Entertainment as a skater 27 years ago, and has advanced in the company to become Character Development Director for all touring Disney On Ice and Disney Live! productions
  • Jeremy Desmon (Writer) – Credits include The Girl in the Frame, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie & Other Storybooks, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents BARNUM BASH(SM)andDisney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival.  He received the 2007 Kleban Award for excellence in Musical Theatre Bookwriting, and is also a recipient of the Dramatists Guild’s Jonathan Larson Fellowship
  • Cindy Stuart (Choreographer) – Collaborated with Olympic Gold Medalist Robin Cousins on multiple projects; choreographed for Katarina Witt, Brian Orser, World and Olympic Champions Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao, and Olympic Champions Jamie Sale and David Pelletier; lead choreographer for several Disney On Ice productions, including Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream
  • Walt Spangler (Scenic Designer) – Created sets for theatre, opera, dance and ice; his credits include the Broadway revival of Desire Under The Elms, The US National Tour of A Christmas Story The Musical, Maury Yeston’s Tom Sawyer Ballet, Kenneth Lonergan’s Medieval Play, the upcoming world premiere of Tuck Everlasting The Musical and the upcoming Beijing premiere of White Snake
  • Cynthia Nordstrom (Costume Designer) – Designed costumes for more than 15 original dance shows in Downtown Disney; designed costumes for Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy and Disney’s Phineas and Ferb: The Best LIVE Tour Ever!
  • Sam Doty (Lighting Designer) – Credits as a lighting designer include Disney Live! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show, Disney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival, Disney’s Phineas and Ferb: The Best LIVE Tour Ever! and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents BARNUM BASH. He has assisted in the building and planning of every Feld Entertainment show since 2006 in roles ranging from head electrician to lighting designer.

‘Grosse Point Blank’ Comes to Blu-ray August 7, 2012

'Grosse Point Blank' Comes to Blu-ray August 7, 2012

Now this is great news! One of my favorite Touchstone films from the 1990’s, and one of my all time favorite John Cusack movies is finally coming to blu-ray on August 7, 2012. ‘Grosse Point Blank’ is a black comedy that follows Cusack, who plays a hitman who, on the advice of his psychiatrist, goes to his  ten year high school reunion. But the reunion doesn’t go as according to plan, as he finds himself tailed by two federal agents, another hitman who wants to kill him, and an assassin who wants him to join his “assassins league”. The movie is dark comedy at its finest, and I’ve enjoyed it since I discovered it years ago in high school. For me, Cusack is a terribly underrated actor, and this is one of his finest movies. The film also stars Minnie Drive, Dan Akyroyd, Alan Arkin, and Joan Cusack. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, this is your perfect chance to pick it up. Hard to believe this is the films 15th anniversary. I can’t wait to add it to my collection. Do I have any other ‘Grosse Point Blank’ fans out there? Let me know in the comments below, here on Chip and Company. Hit the jump for the full press release.

We’ll be there for all four days and nights, covering one of the biggest events of the year. And this year, there’s a lot for both Disney fans and Marvel fans to look forward to.

The Attractions of of Epcot’s World Showcase

The Attractions of of Epcot's World Showcase

I’ll say this once again, the World Showcase is magnificent in its scope and splendor even if you just look at the buildings. There are also a lot of entertainment opportunities that I, like a lot of other folks, call attractions which are family friendly. These are as follows:

  • Mexico – The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros (formerly El Rio del Tiempo – The river of time) A charming little adventure starring Donald, Jose Carioca, and Panchito Pistoles.
  • Norway – Maelstrom. An imaginative trip through Norway of the past and present. There is a short film at the end of the ride. You can bypass this show if you have smaller children with you.
  • China – Reflections of China. One of those spectacular Circlevision 360 films that captures the scope and grandeur of China. If the last time you saw this was prior to 2003, give it another try, it’s much improved.
  • The American Adventure – The American Adventure Show. If you feel like puffing out your chest and being a proud American then this stage show is for you. It’s lots of fun!!!
  • France – Impressions de France. This is as good as a film promoting a country gets. The photography is amazing and the soundtrack is perfect.
  • Canada – O Canada! Another Circlevision beauty that has been updated from the old film. It’s well worth another view if you haven’t seen it recently.
