'Marvel's The Avengers' Comes to Second Screen

Hot off the success of ‘The Avengers’, Marvel has decided to take the movie to the next level by releasing a new second screen application for the film. Second screen gives you a new way to interact with your movies while you watch. You can sync up things like your laptop and iPad to your blu-ray, and once their connected and the movie begins, the app will give you the chance to play games, get cool new trivia about the film, and explore different galleries that pertain to the movie. This is definitely something I’m excited for, especially for a movie like ‘The Avengers’. It really lets you dig deeper into the film in a way you haven’t before, while you watch the movie. This definitely has the chance to be something great, and I can’t wait to get my copy of ‘The Avengers’ this September and try it out. Hit the jump for more info and a look at some exclusive new features.

One thing I love so far about this new app is the fact that you get to go through the SHIELD database to get all sorts of cool new information about the film and the characters, as well as becoming a SHIELD agent. This lets you get a chance to look at things like looking at confidential files that take a closer look at the heroes such as Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America, as well as villains like Loki, so you can learn more about them. Another thing you can do, as long as you have the second screen synced to the blu-ray, is get some detailed behind-the-scenes look that lets you get into really detailed looks at certain scenes from the films. But my favorite edition may be Marvel universe film timeline and the seamless link feature. The Marvel universe timeline lets you look and locate all the major events that have happened so far over the first phase of Marvel’s first set of films, including ‘Iron Man’, ‘The Incredible Hulk’, ‘Iron Man 2’, ‘Thor’, ‘Captain America’, and ‘The Avengers’. This will be great for fans who are introducing new comers to ‘The Avengers’ who may not have seen some of the previous films. Then we have the Marvel seamless link, which lets you explore and link characters, stories, and scenes from all over the Marvel comic origins. This is a great way to introduce those who haven’t read the comics before to them, and it’s rather ingenious. This may be one of the coolest features that’s around. For now though, the app is available to download through the iTunes app store, so you can start messing with it before the movie assembles in your collection later this year. What do you think of this new second screen app? Are you excited to check it out? Let me know in the comments below, only here at Chip and Company.
