Navigating Your Navigator

Navigating Your Navigator

“Do as much or as little as you like” is one of the biggest draws for a cruise vacation but how do you know what to do or when?

Disney Cruise Line has it all figured out and they’ve got your “to do” list in a handy-dandy bi-fold paper that is distributed nightly.

The Personal Navigator is your life source to what’s happening on the ship. It’s like a daily TV guide for your cruise; all the activities are listed by time and broken into age groups and categories. Like a TV guide (pardon my pre on demand TV references) it won’t do you any good if you don’t know how to use it. So what does your Personal Navigator include and how do you make use of it?

Ridership dips on Disney Magical Express

Magical Express

Magical Express

The number of tourists that Walt Disney World bused away from Orlando International Airport dipped 1 percent during the first half of the year, according to new airport figures.

The giant resort’s shuttle-and-luggage service, Disney’s Magical Express, ferried a little more than 1.1 million arriving passengers from the airport to Disney World hotels between January and June.

That was about 11,000 fewer than during the first six months of 2011. It was also the lowest total for the first half of a year since 2007.

Disney makes Magical Express complimentary to all of its hotel guests. It uses the shuttle as a lure, hoping travelers will choose its hotels over cheaper, off-property competitors and will spend more in its parks and restaurants by reducing the likelihood they will rent cars while in Orlando.

Proper Park Etiquette – What NOT to do at Disney World!

Proper Park Etiquette - What NOT to do at Disney World!

With so many people running around the parks, it is important to know how to behave.  Proper park etiquette can get you a long way!  Today we are looking at the top 5 offenses that I’ve seen in the parks.  These offenses may seem small or simple but for some reason, I continuously see guests making them.  Read on an learn what NOT to do at Disney World!

1. Talk during the ENTIRE ride

I’ve sat through many a ride where guests chatted away during the entire ride…seriously to the point that the intended narration and information was lost in a sea of conversation.  LOUD, conversation!  Here is what I propose, if you are having a conversation, do everyone else a favor and wait until you are finished talking before boarding the ride!  Nothing ruins EPCOT’s Living With the Land more than only being able to hear some irrelevant conversation from the row behind you.  I don’t know about you but I would much rather hear about the 9 pound lemon!  Do everyone a favor and keep your conversation to a minimum!

How I spent My Day In Downtown Disney

How I spent My Day In Downtown Disney

My family and I were lucky enough to spend a whole week in Walt Disney World a few months ago, and when we were planning the trip, we decided to save ourselves a little money and skip purchasing park tickets for one of the days – which left us free to enjoy all that Downtown Disney to offer (which is a lot!)

One great thing about Downtown Disney is if you plan on spending the day there, you can SLEEP IN!!!! That’s right, no 7am rope drop or mad dash to rides necessary here – as many of the stores and restaurants don’t open until 9am or later (9am may not seem late to some, but in the World of Disney vacations – 9am is heavenly!)

Disney Sponsors Art Museum Exhibit for Children

Disney Sponsors Art Museum Exhibit for Children

As part of Walt Disney World Resort’s ongoing support to the Orlando Museum of Art, the company is sponsoring From Alice to Zeus: The Art of John Rocco, an exhibit on view from July 14 – October 28, 2012.

This is the eighth exhibition in OMA’s Art of the Picture Book Series, and because Rocco is a Disney Hyperion artist this was a unique synergistic opportunity to help OMA present children’s programming.

The exhibit includes more than 60 preparatory drawings and finished illustrations by Rocco as well as rough sketches and doodles offering a “behind the scenes” look at the artist’s creative process.

Walt Disney World demands kid-attracting guest be less ‘Santa-ish’

Walt Disney World demands kid-attracting guest be less 'Santa-ish'

A Walt Disney World guest who looks like Santa Claus was asked by Disney officials to be less “Santa-ish” because he was a distraction at the park, FLORIDA TODAY news partner WKMG Local 6 reports.

Thomas Tolbert, who was visiting Disney while on a family vacation, said he was wearing “Santa-related” clothing but not a full Santa suit while recently visiting the park.

Tolbert said people, including children, were asking for photos and autographs, something he said he’s used to.

“Do you approach people or do people come up to you?” Tolbert was asked.

“I never approach a person,” he said.

Tolbert said he signed autographs at Disney World until a Disney representative saw him in the middle of a crowd.

“He said you can’t be portraying Santa,” said Tolbert, adding that Disney asked him to change into less “Santa-ish” clothing.
