Navigating Your Navigator

“Do as much or as little as you like” is one of the biggest draws for a cruise vacation but how do you know what to do or when?

Disney Cruise Line has it all figured out and they’ve got your “to do” list in a handy-dandy bi-fold paper that is distributed nightly.

The Personal Navigator is your life source to what’s happening on the ship. It’s like a daily TV guide for your cruise; all the activities are listed by time and broken into age groups and categories. Like a TV guide (pardon my pre on demand TV references) it won’t do you any good if you don’t know how to use it. So what does your Personal Navigator include and how do you make use of it?

There are four pages total to the double sided personal navigator and there is pertinent information on each.

Page #1

  • The day’s show or major event
  • Major events of the day
  • Deals in the spa and shops
  • Overview of dinner options
  • Sunrise/Sunset times and Ashore and All Aboard times (port days)
  • Important phone numbers
  • Suggested dinner attire (formal, semi-formal, cruise casual, etc.)

Page #2
Entertainment schedule-These pages are where the grid of daily activities is listed. It can get tricky for first timers so here’s a few tips:
The grid is organized by time, so think of the page in thirds, the top third is dedicated to morning activities, the middle third to afternoon and the bottom third to evening.
Working in thirds, there are columns across the top that indicate the times and rows down the left side that show you who might be interested in a certain activity (family, kids, etc.)
Be sure to look through carefully because there is a lot of information contained in that page, this is where the highlighters come in handy.

Page #3
Descriptions of the entertainment-This is where things are described a bit more in depth and are in a paragraph style instead of the grid.
Character information-This is also where you’ll find highlights of character meet and greet times and locations.
Kid Club info-This will give the kids a better idea of what’s happening in their various age groups within the kids clubs and highlights of the program

Page #4
The back page is less glamorous than the first three but does contain pertinent information. This is where you’ll find the hours of operation for the quick service dining locations as well as shopping and spa specials and a blurb about Port Adventures.

The Personal Navigator will be available when you arrive on board on embarkation day and will be delivered nightly under your stateroom door or at turn down for the remainder of your cruise. You can pick up additional copies of the Daily Navigator at the guest services desk and various places around the ship.

Now that you know what to look for you can grab your highlighters and look like a cruise pro!

Don’t forget that Moi (PixieMichele) is offering on board credits to help you enjoy your time on board…bring on the spa treatments!

  1. I love the Daily Navigator. We knew where and when to meet and greet the characters and it also had info on all the activities. Great source of information throughout the cruise.

  2. @Marcia, that’s ashame! It does take a little getting used to and learning how to read it, etc but it really is your lifeline to what’s going on on the ship!
