The Aristocats comes to Blu-Ray August 21, 2012

Absolument it’s the Aristocats!!!

Disney’s spectacular 20th full-length animated feature “The Aristocats” arrives for the first time ever in stunning Blu-ray high definition as a Special Edition 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD) and Digital, on August 21, 2012. “The Aristocats” invites audiences to relive all the tune-filled feline fun, comedy and adventure of this Disney classic.

The exciting tale takes place in the heart of Paris where a kind and eccentric millionairess, wills her entire estate to ‘Duchess,’ a high society cat, and her three kittens. When the butler Edgar tries to pull off the ultimate catnap caper in order to secure the fortune for himself, it’s up to alley cat Thomas O’Malley and his band of swingin’ jazz cats to save the day. “The Aristocats” features the voice talents of Eva Gabor, Phil Harris, Sterling Halloway and legendary French singer Maurice Chevalier, who performs the film’s titular opening song. The legendary Disney songwriting team of brothers, Richard and Robert Sherman, get the joint jumping with the jazz-inspired musical numbers “Ev’rybody Wants To Be A Cat,” “Scales and Arpeggios,” and “Thomas O’Malley Cat.”

“The Aristocats” Special Edition is a purr-fect treat for the whole family. It includes a brand new bonus featurette “The Lost Open” with Richard Sherman taking viewers through the storyboards of a never-before-seen alternate beginning which introduces a deleted character and a deleted song “How Much You Mean To Me” and “Court Me Slowly” written and performed by the Sherman brothers. This song demo was one of the few times Richard and Robert ever sang together. Additional classic bonus features on “The Aristocats” Special Edition include the delightful deleted song, “She Never Felt Alone” and “The Great Cat Family (Excerpt),” which explores the history of cats.

Keep an eye out for the release on August 21st, 2012.

If you love this movie as much as I do you’re thrilled about the new editions and seeing the movie in hi definition.

Disney World Quick Tips – Using Your Extra Meal and Snack Credits

Disney World Quick Tips - Using Your Extra Meal and Snack Credits

While on the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan, you are entitled to two meals and one snack per person, per day of your stay.  At first glance, we often wonder if we will have enough.  Then, as we are on our last days at the parks, we realize that we have been having so much magical fun that we do have some credits to use before going home!  Keep in mind that some of these foods travel better by car than by air.  But, if you’re creative and thoughtful, you’ll be going home with some goodies to keep the magic going after you’ve left the parks.  Also, with the Disney Dining Plan offering one table service, one quick service, and one snack per person per day, that can seem like a daunting amount of food.  What if you fill up on table service for a meal, and the thought of eating a quick service meal seems unappetizing.  Before you know it, you’ll be left with several quick service dining credits at the end of your trip.

Here are some tips we like to do with our left over credits:

  • On one of your last park days, consider ordering a pizza from your QSD location at your resort.  When you do so, you get a non alcoholic beverage, a full size pizza, and two desserts.  This is costs you TWO ADULT meal credits.  It can easily feed our family of five, and it helps us use our credits toward the end of our stay.

My Top 5 Favorite Disney World Eats

My Top 5 Favorite Disney World Eats

Hey there! One of my most favorite Disney topics is Disney dining!  I think about the wonderful food and fun snacks at Disney all the time, even my 5 year old can show you where the Dole Whip stand is!  So today I wanted to share with you my Top 5 Favorite Disney Meals.  If you haven’t tried them yet, I highly suggest each one – these picks will not disappoint!

Coming in at the #5 spot is La Cantina de San Angel.  La Cantina is a counter service meal on the Disney Dining plan.  Each meal is one credit and you get to pick an entree, drink and dessert! I LOVE Mexican food and enjoy stopping here for lunch while walking around the World Showcase in EPCOT.  Some of your options here are Guacamole and Chips, Beef Brisket Tacos, Epanadas De Queso, Chicken Tacos and Nachos!  I have tried most of the menu and everything is great!  They also have a great kids menu, alcoholic beverages and desserts! I happen to love the churros for dessert, served with a dipping sauce- yum!  They also have Mexican popsicles for dessert called Paletas in flavors like cantaloupe, mango and coconut!  If you do get a dessert and want to Paletas you can ask the Cast Member at the window to hold on to it until you are finished with your meal, that way it doesn’t melt in the Florida heat!

New ‘American Idol’ Phillip Phillips Surprises Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The newest “American Idol,” Phillip Phillips, surprised a theater full of park guests Thursday when he made an appearance on-stage at “The American Idol Experience” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Phillips, who hit the top 10 on the charts with his single “Home,” was in central Florida for a performance of the “American Idol Live!” concert tour. The nationwide tour continues through mid-September.

In addition to making a surprise appearance for guests at “The American Idol Experience,” Phillips taped a series of short videos that Walt Disney Entertainment plans to utilize in the future during the attraction experience.

And of course, what visit to Disney Parks would be complete without a meeting with Mickey and Minnie? Disney Parks Blog author and photographer Matt Stroshane shot this picture of the smiling trio posing in front of the attraction.

Peter Mayhew the actor behind Han’s best friend Chewbacca!

As reported by  Examiner.com – It was high on the 2011 “Black List of Unproduced Screenplays” and now it might be produced. It’s “Chewie,” which will tell the story of actor Peter Mayhews life during the making of original 1977 “Star Wars” film, now known as “Episode IV: A New Hope.”

It’s been reported that “Fanboys” director Kyle Newman is developing the film.

The Black List described “Chewie” as follows:

A satirical behind the scenes look at the making of Star Wars through the eyes of Peter Mayhew (pictured, above) who played Chewbacca.

If done, this documentary will describe Peter Mayhew’s experiences as he tried to balance a career as a hospital worker with playing the Chewbacca character.

Riding the Disney’s Magical Express

Magical Express
Magical Express

Many people have asked us bout getting from the Airport to Disney World. Some take a cab or other shuttle services. For us we like to use Disney’s Magical Express. For more on DME keep reading…

Getting from Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World and back used to be quite a bit more complicated than it is today. It was also considerably more expensive than it currently is if you use what I feel is the best available option, Disney’s Magical Express. DME is free, and not just free but incredibly simple to use. Best of all, it almost always works seamlessly if you follow the instructions. Here is the basic sequence of events you follow in using DME:

Walt Disney World launches ‘My Disney Experience’ app offering wait times, dining reservations, future NextGen Fastpass

Walt Disney World launches ‘My Disney Experience’ app offering wait times, dining reservations, future NextGen Fastpass

As reported by Inside the Magic, Building on the basics of the Mobile Magic app, Walt Disney World today released a new free app called “My Disney Experience.”  The new mobile application not only offers an enhanced way for guests inside and out of Disney’s Central Florida theme parks to check ride and show wait times, browse maps, and make dining reservations, but will also eventually link to Disney’s NextGen Fastpass system.

The app appeared in Apple’s iTunes store today, available in iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad versions.

Unlike the Mobile Magic app, wait times and Fastpass information offered in My Disney Experience are not currently restricted or generalized when outside of the parks.  Anyone with the app can check these times from anywhere, not just while at Walt Disney World.  Also, while Mobile Magic provides information about both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, My Disney Experience is only available for Walt Disney World due to its connections to the NextGen Fastpass system.  More on that below.

A simple My Disney Experience loading screen greets those who launch it:

‘Grosse Pointe Blank’ 15th Anniversary Blu-ray Review

'Grosse Pointe Blank' 15th Anniversary Blu-ray Review

I can’t believe it’s already been fifteen years since ‘Grosse Pointe Blank‘ first arrived in theaters. This has been one of my favorite John Cusack films for years, and one of my favorite comedies of the nineties altogether. So I can’t tell you how excited I was to find out that ‘Grosse Pointe Blank‘ was finally coming to blu-ray this year for it’s fifteenth anniversary. The movie is the perfect blend of off beat comedy, action, and romance, all rolled together with an excellent cast including Cusack, Minnie Drive, Dan Aykroyd, and Alan Arkin. Disney has given us a pretty solid disc, and I for one am happy to finally have it on blu-ray.
