DISNEY JUNIOR TO LAUNCH PARENT-TARGETED, KID-FRIENDLY SHORT-FORM PROGRAMMING UNDER THE “DISNEY JUNIOR NIGHT LIGHT” BANNER TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

Disney Junior, the brand behind three of cable TV’s top five co-viewed series among parents and kids age 2-8, including the #1 series “Doc McStuffins,” will launch a nightly block of parent-targeted, kid-friendly short-form programming to air interstitially on the 24-hour channel Disney Junior, beginning TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 (9:00 p.m.-4:00 a.m., ET/PT). Presented under the banner “Disney Junior Night Light,” the content is produced by Disney Interactive Family and the block is sponsored by Babble, Disney’s leading parenting blog platform. The programs will also be featured on the Babble YouTube channel and DisneyJunior.com/Nightlight. The announcement was made today by Nancy Kanter, Senior Vice President, Original Programming and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide.

Kanter said, “We know that Disney Junior reaches moms as well as our core audience. Our new ‘Disney Junior Night Light’ programming is a nod to those moms, and dads too, who find themselves watching with their child during the later nighttime hours.” Kanter continued, “We partnered with Disney Interactive Family to provide content that parents will appreciate, yet will also feel organic to our young Disney Junior viewers.”

In keeping with Disney’s heritage of storytelling, the emotional connection kids and parents have to Disney characters and stories and Disney’s commitment to healthy lifestyles, the Disney Junior short-form series include: “DJ Tales,” featuring cleverly costumed finger puppets acting out kids’ versions of classic fairytales and storybook favorites; “Picture This!,” a fast-paced series featuring artists and animators creating images of classic and contemporary Disney characters; and “That’s Fresh,” a cooking show hosted by chef Helen Cavallo who shares inspirational stories of cooking and eating with her own family and simple, healthy recipe ideas for kids and families. “Disney Junior Night Light” shorts in development include a series starring child and family photographer Me Ra Koh sharing her tips and tricks for taking professional-quality photographs, charming vignettes featuring parents sharing the story of the first day they brought their child home and a series that puts stay-at-home dads front and center.

Top Five Best Uses of Fastpass

Fastpasses are available at many attractions at Disney World, but how do you determine which ones will be the most useful or which ones to grab early on and which ones can wait til later in the day? Lucky for you I am here to give you my opinion on the top five best ways to use your fastpasses!

Here is a brief rundown of the fastpass system: Fastpass is a free perk offered to all park guests. When you arrive at a fastpass attraction simply head to the distribution area, insert you park pass into the machine and a fastpass will be printed. The fastpass return time will be clearly displayed so check this out before inserting your park pass to ensure you are able to return.  The fastpass you receive will show the time you may return to ride the attraction with little wait. The return window, which is an hour, on your fastpass is enforced so come back on time. You may only get one fastpass per each park pass at a time. Printed on your fastpass ticket will also be the time you can get another fastpass. When you return to ride you may enter through the fastpass return lane.

Here is my list of attractions that you should get a fastpass for as soon as possible! These rides often have quick building lines and often run out of fastpasses by mid day.

1. Toy Story Midway Mania. This attraction is located in Hollywood Studios and it is one of the most sought after rides in the entire park. If your party intends to incorporate Toy Story into your day without waiting 90 or more minutes, get a fastpass right away!

Used theme park ticket dealers busted in Osceola County

Used theme park ticket dealers busted in Osceola County

Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies arrested eight people last week on charges of reselling multi-day theme park passes. The two-day investigation ended Friday and involved the sheriff’s Tourist Policing Unit and Community Response team, records show.

The sheriff’s office typically works with theme park security officers who identify businesses illegally selling multi-day passes, buy the tickets and turn them over to deputies who make the arrests, according to records of past round-ups.

Last week, the sheriff’s office seized 471 theme park tickets and $2,168 dollars from four businesses in the county’s tourist corridor along West U.S. Highway 192. The eight defendants were charged with resale of multi-day tickets. Two also were charged possession of small amounts of marijuana, records show.

Disney Confidential – Lockers and Show Changes in the Animal Kingdom

Disney Confidential - Lockers and Show Changes in the Animal Kingdom

Here there guys and gals Anonymouse here.

Today’s Gossip comes to us from our fearless leader el Chip-o. Chip shared with me some interesting news about some changes coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

First bit of news is kinda a no brainer. Anyone who has every ridden Kali River Rapids knows you can come out of there DRENCHED! If you were not smart enough to pack a Zip Lock Bag for your cell phone there’s a good chance you have an expensive paperweight. The rumor is Disney will be installing Lockers outside of Kali so you can store your stuff. Why they haven’t already is beyond me.

Next up is about one of the most entertaining shows at Disney World the Festival of the Lion King. Rumor has it they are going to go towards more of a Stadium style seating to help accommodate those people in wheel chairs and scooters, and to give everyone a much better view of the show. We are not sure when this is going to take place but seems like a great idea!

What you think are they good ideas or bad? Let me know in the comment box below.

Anywho that is all the Disney Gossip I have right now. For my past Gossip articles be sure to check them out here.

How to avoid a meltdown and enjoy the fireworks and shows with your kids!

How to avoid a meltdown and enjoy the fireworks and shows with your kids!
John, Grandma, and Grandpa enjoying Fireworks in the Caribbean on our first Disney Cruise

You may not have thought about it before, either because you have never been to Disney World or because you haven’t ever been there with a kid but imagine this:  You found the perfect spot for Wishes (the fireworks spectacular over Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom), you and your family arm in arm counting down the minutes until the show begins, the excitement is building, and all of a sudden “Wishes” (cue music) and the fireworks begin *Boom* *Boom*…*wahhhhhhhh* your child begins to wail and cry because of the noise.  You try to calm him down, people around you are passing annoyed glances your way, it’s no use, now to pack up your things and climb over everyone to just get away from the noise.

I witnessed first hand how frustrating it can be for parents trying to calm their frightened child, and how disappointed they were that they couldn’t enjoy wishes, or It’s a Bugs Life as a family.  Your child could be the most laid back kid on this planet yet a loud noise could be just the thing to set them off.

A Few Things about Epcot You May Not Know

Epcot Picture

I love Epcot because it is the only place where I can visit 10 countries (not including The American Adventure) in one day and not have to leave the country or board an airplane.

Four-year-old cancer survivor McKenna May has made it to Disney World

Four-year-old cancer survivor McKenna May has made it to Disney World

According to Newcom.au, McKenna, who is recovering from treatment for leukaemia, made headlines around the world last month after her father refused to sign a release form for the theme park holiday in Orlando, Florida.

He reportedly told her that a sicker child with less than six months to live should get the trip.

She had already postponed the holiday twice because of her cancer treatment, which finished in June. Chemotherapy treatments following her diagnosis at age 2 have affected her speech and immune system.

But the story has a happy ending, MyFoxOrlando.com reports.

‘High Fidelity’ Blu-ray Review

'High Fidelity' Blu-ray Review

It doesn’t seem to matter what John Cusack makes, I almost always love it. Be it ‘Say Anything…’, ‘1408’, ‘Grosse Pointe Blank’, or even ‘America’s Sweethearts’, there’s always something in his movies, or about his movies, that I enjoy. So you shouldn’t be surprised to find out that I love ‘High Fidelity’, which I consider not only a great comedy, but one of Cusack’s best performances in his career. The movie is a bit John Hughes-like, but more slanted at adults than teenagers. The movie is full of heart, wit, humor, and fun, while also being sort of an oddball. Luckily for me, Disney decided to give the film the high definition treatment this year, and the results couldn’t be better.
