Disney Confidential - Country Bear Jamboree is Closing Temporarily for Refurbishment

Here there guys and gals Anonymouse here.

Not much on the gossip front this week however I did notice something Chimp posted yesterday you might want to take a look at. The Disney World Refurbishment Schedule for September 2012 is showing some interesting closures. After a lil investigating I found out some interesting news for all you Country Bear fans out there…

DareDevil Is Returning to Marvel Studios

DareDevil Is Returning to Marvel Studios

Great news, Marvel fans!  It looks like DareDevil, the horned hero of Hell’s Kitchen, may be returning home to Marvel Studios, after the rights for the character stayed at 20th Century Fox for many years. Some may remember Fox’s 2003 feature film version, ‘DareDevil’, starring Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, and Michael Clark Duncan, and it’s spin-off film, ‘Elektra’, where Garner came back to reprise her role as Matt Murdock’s former love interest. Unfortunately for fans, and for Fox, the property has laid dormant since those films, and now with expiration date is fast approaching and no movie in site, Fox may just cut their losses and let Matt Murdock, and the rest of his Hell’s Kitchen companions, go.

The Tigger Movie Bounce-A-Riffic Special Edition Review

The Tigger Movie Bounce-A-Riffic Special Edition Review

The Tigger Movie Bounce-A-Riffic Special Edition focuses on the loveable Tigger as he comes to realize that “being the only one” isn’t so great and embarks on a search to discover his “family tree.” This special edition includes the film version on both Blu-ray and DVD, in addition to some special features.

The Tigger Movie features all of the characters we know from the Hundred Acre Wood; but there seemed to be something lacking. Perhaps I am partial to the original Winnie the Pooh shorts released back in the sixties, or even the series from the 90s, but the animation seemed a little too clean and the film resorted to extra gags from the characters instead of earning chuckles from the characters’ naivety.

I will say that The Tigger Movie certainly didn’t lack in emotion. While it’s zany and sweet as any children’s movie should be, Tigger’s struggle to find his family and realizing that he had them the whole time really pulls at the heartstrings!

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Offers Happy Haunts for 23 Nights at Disney World

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Offers Happy Haunts for 23 Nights at Disney World

Ghouls and goblins gather at Disney for a bewitching Halloween spooktacular during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party beginning Sept. 11 at Magic Kingdom.

A pumpkin-orange glow and light fog along with ghostly silhouettes dancing atop the roofs of Main Street, U.S.A create lots of delight and not so much fright during this family-friendly, after-hours party.  Guests are invited to dress up in favorite Halloween costumes for trick or treating and more from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. for 23 select nights.

In addition to trick-or-treating, meet and greets with Disney characters donning Halloween costumes, and entertainment unique to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, many popular Magic Kingdom attractions – including, of course, The Haunted Mansion – are available to experience (but beware of hitchhiking ghosts).

Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party is Delicious Fun For Everyone!

Are you a dessert lover? What about fireworks? If you are like me, and you love BOTH of these things, then you should check out the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party which is held on most nights at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland

How it works is, you arrive at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant an hour before the fireworks begin, where you get to enjoy a buffet of yummy desserts and relax while waiting for the fireworks spectacular to begin. Once it starts, you have an amazing spot to view the Wishes fireworks show

Tickets should be purchased in advance for this event (as it is very popular and the space can only accommodate 50 people at a time!), and can be purchased via phone, check out the WDW website for more information. Please note – you will need Magic Kingdom admission tickets in addition to the Dessert Party tickets!

Kid Tested: Check out the all new Spider-Man X-celeRacers

Kid Tested: Check out the all new Spider-Man X-celeRacers

Recently, here at Chip andCo, we had a giveaway for an awesome prize pack for your little super hero!  Stride Rite provided us with a pair of Spider-Man X-celeRacers™ shoes, a full Spider-Man costume, a Spider-Man Movie Poster and a $50 Stride Rite gift card.  I was lucky enough to be able to review this prize pack for my 3 1/2-year-old son.

When we opened the box the look on my son’s face was priceless!!  He was so excited to see the shoes and costume.  He immediately wanted to put all of it on.  The costume was quite the hit, but the shoes were even more exciting!  Of course, he had to run around the house a few times to show me how fast he could run in his new shoes.  Then he told me all about his plan to wear the shoes to school tomorrow to show his friends!  To say this prize was a hit would be an understatement!  He already decided he would be Spider-Man for Halloween!

Disney Says Muslim Worker Had Multiple Options

Disney Says Muslim Worker Had Multiple Options

A former Disneyland employee filed a federal lawsuit Monday against the Walt Disney Corporation alleging discrimination based on her religion.

Imane Boudlal, 28,  had worked as a restaurant hostess at the Storyteller’s Cafe  at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa for  two years before questioning Disney’s dresscode.

The lawsuit alleges Boudlal, who is a Moroccan native but a naturalized U.S. citizen, in 2010, did report to her managers at the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa’s Storyteller’s Café after she decided to wear her hijab full-time. Muslim women wear the hijab to show as a sign of modesty.  She claims she was told wearing her hijab to work was not part of the company’s “look” policy in accordance with their general appearance guidelines, and she was told she could wear a Disney-designed scarf, subject to corporate approval.  Among the other restrictions in the policy, it prohibits visible tattoos and fingernails that exceed a quarter of an inch, the lawsuit said.  Boudlal was also given other options, including working in an area away from visitors or wearing a hat on top of the scarf.

Not wanting to wait to observe Ramadan, Boudlal wore her own hijab to work Aug. 15, 2010, when she  says she was give her options and told she could either remove the scarf, cover it with a hat or work  in a job out of public sight. She refused.

The Magic Kingdom’s Castle Show ‘The Magic, The Memories and You!’ is Getting a Facelift

The Magic, The Memories, and You

One of Disney’s most popular shows “The Magic, The Memories, and You!” is closing on September 3, 2012, in order to be revamped into a brand new show. The new show is scheduled to relaunch in time to ring in the holidays this year. The original ” The Magic, The Memories and You” has had minor tweaks and changes, including seasonal showcases to keep it current, since it began in early 2011.

The new show will be different in many ways, including a new name, but will still be using the same projection technology that has made the current version so popular.
