Marvel Officially Sets 'Avengers 2' For May 1, 2015; Film Is Currently Untitled

Marvel’s work on the sequel to ‘The Avengers’ is now in full swing. Last week we reported that Joss Whedon would be returning to write and direct the sequel to Marvel’s massive blockbuster. At the time, no release date had been set for the movie, but many assumed we would see it in the summer of 2015, ending Phase 2 of Marvel’s film series. Looks like those assumptions turned out to be correct, Marvel has officially announced today that the sequel will officially be landing in theaters May 1, 2015. But that’s not all we’ve learned from this announcement. It looks like the sequel to ‘The Avengers’ will also have a new title.

Candlelight Processional in Disneyland Expands to 20 Nights

Walt Disney Company has announced that Disneyland general park guests are going to not only have the ability to attend the Candlelight Ceremony and Processional this year in Disneyland but they will have 20 nights to enjoy the special holiday event. In past years Disney has had only two nights of the event and they were reserved seating and invited guests only. Regular Disneyland park goers could have a view from roped off areas or standing room only, but, rarely were any tickets available for purchase and then only to D23 members or select groups.  This holiday season, in addition to the two invitation only nights the general visitors, with a special ticket purchase, Disneyland visitors will have 20 different nights to choose from and the option of the dining plan, similar to Walt Disney World’s Candlelight Ceremony and Processional.

The Candlelight Ceremony and Processional is one of the oldest traditions at Disneyland dating back to 1958 when Walt Disney started this annual event. The choir of the processional includes Walt Disney Company employees who vie for a spot every year in this special telling of the Christmas story. Celebrity guests are invited each year to narrate the story and a full orchestra plays in the background.

Magical Manners during Character Dining

You might have noticed a mini theme here on Chip & Co. on the subject of manners.  Taking time to remember that you aren’t the only guest really does make for the most magical of vacations!  Manners, etiquette, courtesy…whatever you call it…it all matters!  Toady we are taking a lighthearted look at what you need to know in order to dine with characters (that is with manners)!   Hopefully you have never had to sit through character dining  with ill-mannered park guests!I love character dining!  There is nothing more magical than eating and hanging out with your favorite characters at Disney!  It is the ultimate way to create  a magic moment of memories while at the parks!  That is unless you have the misfortune of  eating alongside characters like Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee!

Park guests with good manners…

Wait their turn…

If you have never  experienced character dining at Disney, it works like this: guests are seated to eat and enjoy (buffet meals are you serve yourself where menu meals let you sit back and let your waiter to take care of serving you) as characters make their rounds.  Each character will stop and chat, take photos, and sign autographs.  It is HARD to see those characters and not want to abandon your Mickey shaped waffles for a hug…believe me, I know!  Mind your manners and keep the experience magical for everyone else around you!  Take a deep breath when you see the characters making their way around the restaurant!  There’s nothing worse than having your time with Tigger or Pooh cut short by another guest butting in on your time.  Each table will be visited, so wait patiently!

The Story Goes…

By picking up where they left off and following the life of Scamp, Lady and Tramp’s mischievous son, “Scamp’s Adventure” is a continuation of the much-loved, classic tale, “Lady and the Tramp”. Scamp is a young pup that wants to be wild and free. The movie begins with him in the house with all of our old friends and some new. Jim Dear and Darling and their little one, Lady, Tramp and there 3 perfect girl pups who are Scamp’s sweet sisters.  Everyone in the house enjoys peace, quiet and baths; well, everyone but Scamp. He is constantly getting himself in scrapes and once he gets away from all the house rules and joins the “Junkyard Dogs” the adventures begin. Through many ups and downs Scamp gets his wish of freedom but, as always, be careful what you wish for!

Disney's 20th Anniversary Commemorative Marathon Medal is Revealed

The 20th anniversary medal was revealed on Tuesday by runDisney which culminates their two-week social media campaign – “The Great Medal Caper”. For the past two weeks fans have been hunting down clues and helping solve the mystery about what the commemorative medals design would be for this year’s Walt Disney World Marathon.

We now have the answers and runners have extra incentive to keep training! The medal has two inspirational quotes from Walt Disney himself, alone with a medallion that showcases both classic and modern images of Mickey Mouse.

“For 20 years runDisney medals have set the standard in the running industry,” said Faron Kelley, Director of Marketing and Communication for Disney Sports.  “This medal builds on that rich tradition and is an extraordinary keepsake that celebrates the 20 years of marathon experiences for people from around the world who have run in this time-honored event.”

The 20th anniversary celebration will offer an enhanced course, special entertainment at Mile Marker 20, and a new post race party to be held in Downtown Disney. The 26.2 mile marathon is expected to have more than 20,000 runners this year for the much anticipated event.  The Walt Disney World Marathon is the main event of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna at Walt Disney World Resort, Jan. 10 – 13, 2013.

Be Our Guest Restaurant to Open for Reservations!

The Highly anticipated Be our Guest Restaurant is going to begin booking reservations. The restaurant is set in Beasts castle as part of the Fanstasyland expansion. You can book your reservations by phone beginning August 20 at noon. Online reservations will open on August 22.  The very first seating will be dinner November 19, 2012.

Be our Guest will be open daily for lunch as a quick service location and then will be transformed into a table service location for dinner. Both meals will cost you 1 credit on the dining plan. (A quick service credit for lunch and a table service credit for dinner.)

Some unique feature of the restaurant include the fact that guests dining during lunch will order from a kiosk or cashier and then sit down to have their food delivered to them! No carrying heavy trays while weaving through crowds. Lunch will also be served on china instead of tradition quick service style paper.

Guests will be seated in one of three dining rooms directly from the movie, Beauty and the Beast. The Rose Gallery, The West Wing, and The Ball Room. Each room is unique and attention to detail is outstanding.

The menu will feature french style  cuisine Crouque Monsieur for lunch and Thyme scented pork chops and French onion soup for dinner.

NEW Toy Story Toon - PARTYSAURUS REX!

The toys are back! Disney*Pixar’s brand-new Toy Story Toon, PARTYSAURUS REX, will run in theaters before FINDING NEMO 3D starting September 14th. This adorable short is directed by Mark Walsh, produced by Kim Adam, and is the third installment of Toy Story Toons.

“Partysaurus Rex” features Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn), the insecure toy T-Rex in the ‘Toy Story’ gang. Rex goes from shrinking violet to sudsy stud when Bonnie brings him into the bath! What follows can only be described as an EPIC bathtub party.

Magical Manners while using Disney Transportation

Ok Disney travellers, I’m going to share with you a few tips on using Disney Transportation.  Which is a nice way to say I’m going to tell you how to NOT act like you’ve hit your head and forgotten your manners at Disney.

These tips apply to all methods of getting around Disney.  Magical Express, Bus, Boat, Monorail, and in some cases Walking.

THE LAWS OF PHYSICS IN RELATION TO DISNEY TRANSPORT

This one is OK to use at home too.  I PROMISE you that allowing other guests to exit first will make it easier for you to board.  Standing in front of the open doors while they have to push past you, only slows things down.  It may also result in a stray elbow to the ribs from people like me.  I mentioned walking…again physics.  I can not walk through you when you make a dead stop to refer to your Disney Mobile app.  Move to the side if you need to stop, this keeps the flow of traffic moving.

Disney has many unusual and coveted adult beverages, and those are certainly worth the merit they receive. Today, however, I want to talk about the fun and unusual non alcoholic drinks you can find at Walt Disney World. There are so many unique offerings that will keep your kids happy and even satisfy your adult palette. Here is my list of top five non alcoholic beverages at Disney World.

1. The PB&J Milk Shake: You can drink this unusual treat at The 50’s Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios. The name of this shake may put you off, but it is certainly worth a taste. It is a time-tested flavor combination and it does not disappoint, even in a blended drink!
