“Brave” and “The Avengers” Get One-Week Encore Performance in Theaters

"Brave" and "The Avengers" Get One-Week Encore Performance in Theaters

Disney is trying to re-capitalize on its summer blockbuster films by showing them again in  limited one week “encore” releases.  First, Disney announced that  it would re-release summer blockbuster “The Avengers” in 1,700 theaters nationwide.  Now the LA Times is reporting that Disney and Pixar will do the same with “Brave”.

The move was to capitalize on a slow Labor Day Weekend.  The idea behind the re-release was to “see it one last time on the Big Screen before it comes out on Blu Ray / DVD.

Would you go see either of these films again on the Big Screen?  Or will you just wait for the Blu Ray / DVD?

Disney Bringing ‘Ed Wood’ and ‘Judged Dredd’ to Blu-ray September 18

Disney Bringing 'Ed Wood' and 'Judged Dredd' to Blu-ray September 18Disney Bringing 'Ed Wood' and 'Judged Dredd' to Blu-ray September 18

Two of Disney’s biggest cult classic 90’s films are finally heading to blu-ray! This year has seen Disney really reaching back into their vault and releasing quite a few of their catalog titles, much to the surprise and happiness of many movie fans. I think it’s also safe to say that these two new titles are surely to make some very happy. First up, we have Tim Burton’s Academy Award winning film ‘Ed Wood’, a biopic about the infamous director who made terrible films, including ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’. The film stars Johnny Depp, Bill Murray, Martin Landau, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Patricia Arquette. It’s one of my all time favorite Burton films, because it was one of his biggest works of love. While some liberties about Wood’s life were taken, it never distracts from the overall film. It’s also shot in black and white, making it that much more vintage and wonderful to watch. This is one I’ve been really looking forward to landing on blu-ray, so I’m definitely excited to see it finally happening. Hit the jump for info on ‘Judge Dredd’, and trailers for both films.

No Kids? No Problem! A Character Guide For Adults

No Kids? No Problem! A Character Guide For Adults

Disney World is a great place to vacation for those of all ages, and I personally very much enjoy traveling there in an all adult party. Characters are one of those things that a lot of people think are just for kids, but I know plenty of adults who love getting a hug from Minnie or having their picture taken with Goofy (myself included!). So don’t be shy, get out there and hug some characters! And follow these tips while you’re at it:

Character Meeting Tips For All Adult Parties:

Plan Ahead – Most people do at least some pre planning when heading to Walt Disney World, whether it be making Advance Dining Reservations at their favorite restaurants, or picking which day they will travel to each Theme Park; and character sighting can be an important part of planning too! The official Walt Disney World website lists which characters typically make appearances at each Park, and then once you arrive at the Park, you can check the times guide for exactly where and when you can meet up with your favorite characters

Put your Smartphone to work – There are plenty of Disney apps available for the various types of smartphones, and many of them can be a great help in planning your trip. Many of the apps include updated attraction wait times, parade information, maps and park hours, and some even include character information and inform you where and when you can meet up with your fave Disney characters. Disney’s Mobile Magic App is Disney’s official smart phone app, I have it have used it at the Parks, it includes character information and best of all, it’s a free download! I highly recommend you try out Mobile Magic as well as other Disney apps – they can really be a time saver

Is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Worth The Ticket Cost?

Is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Worth The Ticket Cost?

Is the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Worth the Extra Ticket Cost?

I have people ask me all of the time, is it really WORTH the ticket cost to go to the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party? I never knew how to answer that question until my family and I experienced it last year and now I can answer with a resounding YES!

The ticket prices vary upon what time you go, if you purchase them ahead of time or the day of and if you have a DVC or Florida resident discount. I recommend purchasing them in advance if you are going around Halloween time because these parties DO sell out and it’s cheaper than buying them at the gate.

The party starts at 4pm and lasts until midnight which has many people asking what makes the cost worth it since you are only in the park those limited amount of hours. I can fill you in on why my family thought it was worth every dime:

Get in Line for LeFou's Brew...Soon to Be a Hit at Gaston's Tavern

Disney is announcing a new signature beverage to be served at Gaston’s Tavern when the new Fantasyland expansion opens in a few months. LeFou’s Brew is a no-sugar added frozen apple juice with a pinch of toasted marshmallows, all this goodness topped off with all-natural passion fruit-mango foam. The brew is named after LeFou, who was Gaston’s sidekick in Beauty and the Beast.

This tasty drink will be served in a souvenir stein or goblets and may sound familiar to those of you that have visited Cars Land in Disneyland and had a taste at the Cozy Cone. The new restaurant will be a quick service restaurant which will make you feel like taking a break as it is decorated as a comfy lodge in the French countryside. You can identify the restaurant by the outside statue of Gaston who is holding kegs of his brew.

Disney Confidential – Avatar gets a bump and Fastpass+ begins more testing

Disney Confidential - Avatar gets a bump and Fastpass+ begins more testing

Here there guys and gals Anonymouse here.

Today’s interesting gossip comes to us from my 2nd home Walt Disney World.  I wish I was there now enjoying a Lapu Lapu drink while Chip massages my feet like the good cabana boy he is.. Just kidding I would not want to see him in a speedo..yuk.

Our first bit of Gossip talks about Disney’s Xpass Fastpass+. You know where you can pay to reserve times on rides months in advance sorta like an ADR, but for rides. If you want more deals read about it here. The news now is Disney is again TESTING the Xpass Fastpass+ system for selected guests via email. They are sending out special emails asking people to select rides they think they might be interested in riding on their upcoming vacations. So if your unlucky you might be getting an email from Disney asking you to test out this new service.

As many of you know I am not a big fan of this. I believe this is overkill and spoils the magic of visiting the parks. I understand it’s intent which is to:

  • Help Disney make more money
  • Help alleviate some of the crowds at the parks
  • Did I mention making more money?

New Footage From 'Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two' Revealed Revealing Fort Wasteland

This weekend at the PAX Prime, Warren Spector and the rest of the Disney Interactive brought a new footage from the highly anticipated ‘Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two’. The footage they brought is from one of the areas in the game I’m most excited to explore, which is Fort Wasteland, an area based around Frontierland. But just because you weren’t at PAX to see new footage and pictures from the game doesn’t mean you get to be left in the dark. Thankfully, Disney Interactive have given us a chance to share some new pictures and footage of the game with you. I’m very excited to share this with you guys, and I’m sure you’re excited to see it. Bluray Review – The Aristocats is loaded with special features

Bluray Review - The Aristocats is loaded with special features

The Aristocats Blu-ray and DVD Special Edition, now available in stores, is fantastic and worth adding to your family’s Blu-ray collection. As always, the animation is beautiful and the songs are fantastic, but the real jewels of this special edition are the special features. You will love the movie, and you’ve likely seen it, so I’m going to focus on the great special features that Disney collectors will love.

The Lost Open– In this segment, Richard Sherman, one of the famous songwriters for Disney, introduces the alternate beginning of the Aristocats. The segment walks you through original storyboard drawings and partial imitations from what was intended as the beginning to the actual opening of the movie. I really liked the original opening also. I’m curious, do you think they should have kept the original opening?

Oui Oui Marie– Oui Oui Marie is a music remix that takes snippits of things Marie says in the movie and clips them together into a song with a heavy back-beat. I personally found this part to be terrible. However, my 5-year-old daughter was “rocking out” to it.
