Who Framed Roger Rabbit Arrives on Blu-Ray in March 2013

Roger Rabbit

I’m so excited that this film is coming to Blu-ray! “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is one of my favorite films of all time, and it will be landing back on the shelves in a special 25th anniversary edition DVD/Blu-ray combo pack on March 12, 2013. The Academy Award-winning film directed by Robert Zemeckis has been restored and will look crisper than ever with clean special effects and digital restoration.

For those who have never seen the film (gasp!), “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” tells the tale of a bitter detective that hates toons after one killed his brother. The detective must prove that Roger Rabbit, a silly cartoon rabbit, is innocent after being accused of murder.

The Blu-ray release will feature some special features, including digitally restored Roger Rabbit shorts (“Tummy Trouble”, “Roller-Coaster Rabbit”, “Trail Mix-Up”), the original theatrical trailer, deleted scenes, audio commentary, and more.

Celebrating New Years Eve at Walt Disney World – Events & Details

new years eve

Have you ever rung in the New Year Eve at Walt Disney World?  It’s on my very long Disney Bucket List!  Here are few tips and list of events from Chip & Co. if you are headed that way this year.

Magic Kingdom

Extra Magic Hours-7am to 8am, Park Open 8am to 2 am.

The Magic Kingdom will continue to have their holiday decorations up for the festivities.  Special performances throughout the day will be capped off by an 11:50 pm fireworks show “Fantasy in the Sky”.  For the younger set, an 8:30 pm fireworks show of “Holiday Wishes” will be a nice treat before heading to bed.  There are no special meals or events planned at Magic Kingdom, and the park is extremely busy.  If going to Magic Kingdom is important to you, arrive earlier in the day and stay there.  They have been known to close within hours of opening.

Sometimes You Just Want a Night In Away from the Walt Disney World Parks

horse-drawn carriage Walt Disney World

A trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth, aka Walt Disney World Resort, awesome as it is, can wear even the most seasoned traveler to the bone. Walking miles a day, waiting in crowded lines, eating delicious meals (ok, that’s not really a problem), basically pushing yourself physically, trying to “do it all,” can really fry the nerves and put a damper on an out-of-this-World vacation.

My family has found that if we don’t spend at least one evening in during our trip, we will have one totally Grumpy day where noone’s happy and everyone’s one edge. It actually took us two or three trips to figure the pattern out. We were always trying too hard to take it all in, to do as much Disney stuff as we possibly could without missing a thing that we just kept on going and going and going…and we’d end up regretting that choice.

But now we are older and wiser and more experienced at “Doing Disney.” Once we accepted the fact that we will never be able to see or do all there is to do at Walt Disney World, we were able to relax and enjoy whatever we could get to. And whatever we missed would wait till our return—and we will return.

Spending the evening in at your resort doesn’t have to be boring. You don’t have to go to bed at 7:00 (unless you really want to!). There are plenty of activities to slow the pace that will not only help everyone in your party to relax but will also rejuvenate their Disney spirit.

So, check your game plan, double-check the Park guides, and make sure there’s no place you need to be, and then…

  • Take advantage of the fine eateries onsite. Too often we bypass the fabulous food that’s right around the corner in favor of Park fare, but don’t forget about your resort restaurants. They’re on the Disney Dining Plan!
  • Take a dip in the resort pools. Most resorts have small, “quiet” pools in addition to the large main pools for a more relaxing time away from crowds. All are kept at 80º F yearround.

Disney Food Blog Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays 2012 Review

dfb

AJ Wolfe, author of Disney Food Blog has put together a spectacular guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays. This e-book is jam-packed with useful information to anyone visiting the parks during holiday season which spans from early November to early January.

Readers will get excellent insight on where to eat holiday meals, what to expect for prices, and where to find unique holiday inspired treats. But in true Wolfe fashion the buck does not stop there!

You will also be treated to information on special holiday happening such as the candlelight processional and hints on where you can find the jolly old elf himself throughout the world.

I have frequented the parks during many holiday seasons, but reading this guide prior to my trip led me to some new discoveries. For example, I had never attended the Christmas Market in the Germany Pavilion and was very happy to learn that they served Gluhwein, a hot mulled wine. I had a good friend from Austria who used to serve this at Christmas each year and after she moved home I did not think I would get this treat again.

Wolfe takes the reader through each park, pointing out special and seasonal menu items and highlighting things that should not be missed. She draws attention to the little details in the parks that are unique to the holiday season, which I think is wonderful. She even offers suggestions for holiday dining without reservations.

Beyond the parks, she also takes us on a virtual resort hop, pointing out where and what to eat at each WDW hotel. She also takes the reader through the intricate displays at each resort; pointing out details that the normal visitor may miss.

Special events, parades, and shows are also covered and Wolfe is helpful to point out limited time happenings and where you will find holiday treats during events such as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  She also gives details on lesser known activities such as religious services, gingerbread decorating demos, golf cart parades, and ornament making!

All in all, this guide leaves no stone unturned and is one of the most important holiday resources you can find for the Walt Disney World Resort. Hats off to AJ Wolfe for putting together this must have book!

‘Brother Bear’ and ‘Brother Bear 2’ Come to Blu-ray March 3, 2013

Brother Bear

March 13, 2013 is going to be a very exciting days for fans of Walt Disney Pictures, with the release of several of their most popular titles. One of my favorites, and one I feel gets overlooked pretty frequently, is ‘Brother Bear’. So I’m definitely happy to see it coming to blu-ray on March 13, as well as it’s sequel ‘Brother Bear 2‘. The movie tells the story of an Inuit bo, named Kenai  (Joaquin Phoenix), who after provoking a battle with a bear that kills his brother, decides to pursue it in an act of revenge. But when the Spirits react negatively to Kenai’s actions, decide to teach him a lesson and transform him into a bear. It’s a very special little movie, and one I look on fondly, as it’s one of the last hand drawn Disney films I saw in theaters before Disney started making their CGI animated films.

The movie really seems to be one that is lost in the shuffle when the animated filmography of the company is brought up, so I’m glad to see it’s at least getting a proper HD treatment and coming to blu-ray. I really can’t wait to get a look at this film on blu-ray, because the animation in it is absolutely gorgeous, and should look stunning here. Another reason I love it is also because it, and it’s sequel, are the last two films Rick Moranis made before he retired from acting. Moranis is one of my all time favorite actors, going back as far as growing up on ‘Ghostbusters’.  Adding this to my collection, where he  also reunited with Dave Thomas, is definitely something I look forward to. Are you excited to get ‘Brother Bear’ on blu-ray? Let me know in the comments below, only here at Chip and Company! Hit the jump for the full press release.

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas at Walt Disney World Resort

night before

o celebrate the holidays, Mickey Mouse has recruited some familiar faces from around Walt Disney World parks and resorts to help him recite the poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (or as it’s often called, “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”). I’d tell you who is in the video, but that’d ruin the fun, right? Just know that you’ll see characters, crew and cast from all four theme parks, the resorts, Blizzard BeachESPN Wide World of Sports and some areas guests usually don’t visit. Merry Christmas.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas at Walt Disney World Resort

Coming to Disney Parks this January/February 2013

dans

Guests will find an extra sprinkle of pixie dust each week when they visit Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts in 2013.

While 2013 is already a momentous year for Disney Parks – with New Fantasyland as the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history at Walt Disney World Resort and the first full year of a reimagined Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort – Disney launches Limited Time Magic: 52 weeks of magical experiences big and small that appear, then disappear as the next special surprise debuts.

Imagine an Independence Day celebration – only it lasts an entire week….Main Street mainstays the Dapper Dans rocking out with boy band hits in barbershop style….a Friday the 13th dance party with Disney villains that lasts to the 13th hour….a Valentine’s Day in 2013 that becomes Valentine’s Week with Disney castles blushing pink, surprise meet-and-greets with Disney princes and princesses, and candlelit dinners for couples in love.

These and many more special experiences to surprise and delight Disney Parks guests will roll out each week in 2013. Unique, magical, memory-filled – and each for a limited time only.

Disney officials noted that Limited Time Magic was inspired by the reality that many of life’s most cherished memories are made during those special, but fleeting moments when families spend time together with shared experiences.

The experience of the week will be announced in a variety of ways including in-park, Disneyworld.com, Disneyland.com, Facebook, Twitter, the Disney Parks Blog – adding to the element of surprise.

For more information about Limited Time Magic, guests should visit www.disneyparks.com.
