TSA Detains 3-Year Old Toddler Going To Walt Disney World

crying girl

What was supposed to be a dream trip to Walt Disney World turned into a  nightmare for 3-year old Lucy Forck and her family at St. Louis’ Lambert Field Airport.

3-year old Lucy, who is in a wheelchair because she suffers from spina-bifida,  was nearly subjected to an aggressive TSA pat-down at the airport.  The incident happened earlier this month as the Forck family was departing to Walt Disney World.  A TSA agent pulled the child aside after an alarm went off.

A video of the incident showing the crying child can be see on The Washington Times website.

Rachel Booth Delivers Record-Setting Performance Again at Disney’s Princess Half Marathon

Louisiana runner breaks her own event record to become first woman to win an unprecedented four runDisney titles; race weekend total of 36,000 participants is event’s largest ever in five-year history

Rachel Booth etched her name in the runDisney record books – again – by winning Disney’s Princess Half Marathon on Sunday for the second straight time, beating her own race record from a year ago.

Perhaps even more significant, Booth stands alone as the only woman to win four runDisney races – two Princess Half Marathons (2012 and 2013) and two Disneyland Half Marathons (2010 and 2011).

This latest win, a 13.1-mile journey through Epcot and Magic Kingdom on an unseasonably warm February morning at Walt Disney World Resort, was fairly routine. Booth charged to the front of the pack of 26,000 runners at the start and was never seriously threatened, even though she could hear the cheers for second-place finisher Mia Elbon and third-place finisher Megan Jaswell behind her.

Ontario Students Humiliated After Teacher’s Disney World Prank

Magic_Kingdom_castle

What was supposed to be a harmless prank played by teachers at South Windsor school on their 8th grade students has backfired in a big way.

Teachers at a Roseland Public School led graduating 8th grade students to believe that they were going to Walt Disney World for a end of year trip.  Students were gathered into a room and shown a Disney vacation video as well as a PowerPoint presentation that the teachers had created. Travel brochures and hotel information was also passed around.

The kids were ecstatic about the surprise Disney trip until the last slide of the PowerPoint presentation revealed the prank – that they were not going to Walt Disney World but rather going to a local bowling alley.  One of the teachers recorded the whole prank on an iPad and it was later shown to another class as well so they could enjoy the teacher’s prank.

Needless to say, students were disappointed and hurt by being the butt of the joke and their parents are not happy.

“It was a huge error in judgment,” Warren Kennedy, director of education of the Greater Essex County District School Board, told The Windsor Star Wednesday.  “I don’t think anyone is happy about this,” said Kennedy. He said he wasn’t able to “go into personnel matters” but that apologies had gone out and that those involved “realize their error … they’re owning the problem.”

No word yet if the teachers involved with the prank will face any disciplinary actions.

It has helped my students become scientists.”

Spanning over 6,600 square feet, The THINK experience presented by IBM showcases how technology makes the world work better by transforming the way we live and work. Highlights include a 40-foot dynamic “gesture wall” that reveals the ebb and flow of data in our daily lives through colorful visualizations; a 12-minute inspirational film about building a better future and a self-guided interactive tour featuring 20 seven-foot touchscreens that encourage discovery.

The new exhibit is based on IBM’s 2011 THINK pop-up exhibit at New York’s Lincoln Center, which was developed for the company’s Centennial.

Disney Interactive Announces ‘Cars’ Playset For ‘Disney Infinity’

Disney Interactive Announces 'Cars' Playset For 'Disney Infinity'

Just over a month ago, I was able to give you a first hand look at Disney Interactive’s new gaming platform, ‘Disney Infinity’. Based around the same gaming platform that makes up the popular game, ‘Skylanders’, ‘Disney Infinity’ brings you into the world of your favorite Disney characters like never before. The way the platform works revolves around a series of collectible figurines, and any time you want to get a new play set for the game, you buy the new figurine, which will let you upload the play set for that character’s universe. It’s a pretty cool system, and as we learned at the ‘Infinity’ event, the opening booster set for the game will feature ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘Monsters University’, and ‘The Incredibles’. But now, Disney Interactive has announced what will be one of the newest playsets for the new platform, ‘Disney Infinity: Cars’, based on the ever popular Pixar films, ‘Cars’, and ‘Cars 2’. Hit the jump for a trailer for the new play set, screen shots, and more on what to expect from ‘Disney Infinity: Cars’.

Dapper Dans Perform Boy Band Hits at Disney Parks for ‘Limited Time Magic’

If you’ve been known to sing along with the Dapper Dans, the iconic quartet from Main Street, U.S.A., then you’re in for a special treat next week. Disney is continuing their “Limited Time Magic” surprises with performances from the “original boy band” at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.

The Dapper Dans will be delivering a medley of hits from One Direction, Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC all next week. And while we won’t give away all of the surprise tunes, we can tell you that you’ll never know when the quartet will break into an all-new melody that’ll have “Everybody” seeing “What Makes You Beautiful” before they say “Bye, Bye, Bye.”

This musical time warp is happening as a part of “Limited Time Magic,” from February 25 – March 3 at both Disneyland park in California and Magic Kingdom Park in Florida. Let us know what you’re looking forward to hearing in the comments.

Marvel Animation Studios Announces ‘Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United’

I’m always game for animated superhero films. They’re a fun sub-genre that has become very popular lately, thanks to the DC Animated Films by Warner Premiere. Marvel hasn’t had too many of these animated films, but it looks like they’re about to jump back into the game with a new film, and it looks like it’s going to be something exciting. The new film is titled ‘Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United’, which will, as the title suggests, see two of Marvel’s most popular characters, Hulk and Iron Man, in a team up film which puts them together against a common enemy. The film is a CGI film, a first for Marvel Animation, who had been doing hand drawn animation up until this point. I actually really like the look of it from the screen captures so far, so I can’t wait to see how this turns out. Hit the jump for more pictures to get a look at the film, as well as the synopsis for it.

Disney World Vacation Planning – Toddlers, Teenagers and Tiara’s, Oh My!

mouse ears

Do you find it hard to meet your family’s needs while on a Disney World Vacation? Does one child want to run off to meet the princesses, while the other wants to ride Dumbo? Maybe we’re crazy, but at some point we decided that a teenager and a toddler in the same house was a good idea. Trying to manage a toddler’s needs and a teenager’s wants at Disney can be a challenge. Not to mention the expectations for the only princess (yours truly) in the group!

The secret to managing your families varying needs and wants comes down to two simple words: Be Prepared! (Are you singing along yet?)

First, we learned to set reasonable expectations, both for the trip and the day. Gone are my “Disney commando” days of yore. We quickly learned that with a toddler in tow we would not get as much done as before, and that is ok. We get an extra day of tickets so we can see everything and we slow down and enjoy the ride.

We also pick and choose our activities wisely. Each day I plan a park to visit and we ask everyone what they want to do most. By prioritizing our wants and needs we’re able to guarantee everyone gets something they want and everything else in between is icing on the cake!

With a toddler we found that taking breaks is important! By heading back to the hotel for his afternoon nap we all got to decompress and get ready for the fun that the night held! A well rested toddler and mommy equal a much happier family!

Carve out time for each child. Both my husband and I made a point to ride the “big” rides with our teenager. We’d let him pick or I’d volunteer since I can’t pass up a good roller coaster! Then the other parent would find a “kiddy” ride or a character to meet with the youngest. My oldest and I even explored the hotel grounds together one afternoon while the little one napped. We took silly pictures and refilled our mugs. It’s the little things that make the difference!

Bottom line, Disney is magical! There may be bumps along the road, but with a little planning, and a little pixie dust, you’re sure to have a magical trip whether your kids are two years apart or ten!

Meet Mickey and Minnie at the new Adventurers Outpost in Animal Kingdom

Mickey and minnie Animal Kingdom

Starting this Spring you can meet Mickey and Minnie at their very own exploration headquarters at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The all new Adventurers Outpost is a place where explorers come together to share tales from their expeditions around the world. The all new Adventurers Outpost will be located on Discovery Island.  One good thing about the new meeting place is that is indoors and air conditioned, does it get any better than that in Florida?

You can still head on over to Camp Minnie Mickey and catch some of your other favorite Disney characters. While you are there I also highly reccomend that you see Festival of the Lion King. That show is worth a trip over the Animal Kingdom all in itself.

So who is up for the new adventure? I know if Mickey and Minne are involved I will be up for it!!
