Minnie & Daisy Best Friends Forever Book and Magazine Review

Much Ado About Juliet (1)

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island and best of all, you can enjoy these riches every day of your life.” Walt Disney

Walt Disney was certainly a man after my own heart. At my house, there isn’t much that gets us as excited as a new book to read. Recently I had the opportunity to review a new series from Disney Publishing featuring Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck. While I love all of the new characters like Merida, Rapunzel, and I especially enjoy a Phineas & Ferb marathon; it thrilled me to see of the classic Disney characters featured in this series. Minnie Mouse holds a special place in my heart and I am always excited to pass that love on to my daughter. Disney said about the series, Girls can read about the amazing power of friendship, take quizzes, make fun crafts, learn about caring for pets, read about fashion and their favorite music, and play games with their best pals, Minnie and Daisy.” These books and magazine delivered on that and more!

New Animated Series ‘Star Wars Rebels’ Coming to Disney XD in 2014

Star Wars Rebels

If you’re like me you were bummed to hear that “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” was being cancelled after a tremendous five season run. The animation, stories and acting were top notch and I really hoped that this new series Lucasfilm hinted at would be on par with the quality we, Wars fans, have grown accustomed to in terms of production value and storytelling. It would appear that our geeky prayers have been answered!

StarWars.com just released details on their new animated series “Star Wars Rebels.” Here’s the news from Lucasfilm themselves.

Starting Your Free Disney Collection

fp

Starting a Disney collection can be a lot of fun, but purchasing souvenirs for your collection can easily become quite expensive. Luckily, you can find some great free souvenirs at Walt Disney World. By collecting these free souvenirs, you can create a Disney collection to remember your vacation by. So, what types of free souvenirs can you collect from Walt Disney World?

Disney park maps are a fun souvenir to collect. You can find them for free at many locations on Disney property. If you collect maps from multiple trips to Walt Disney World, it can be fun to see how the park maps have changed over the years. You can also use park maps to add a little Disney magic to your vacation scrapbook.

Unused FastPasses and Ride Swap tickets are another great free Disney souvenir to collect. You can collect these tickets from many of your favorite attractions for free. Once you return home, your FastPasses or Ride Swap tickets can be displayed in many creative ways, such as collages, shadow boxes, or in your vacation scrapbook.

Best Quick Service Dining Spot in Epcot

france

Epcot, among many things, offers the most diverse choices when it comes to dining. It is a park that is home to some of the best quick service options throughout Walt Disney World.

I have gathered what I believe to be the five best bets for quick service if you are at this park.

1. Sunshine Seasons– Located in The Land Pavilion this quick serve location offers up pretty much any type of food you can imagine. This makes it a great choice for families with a variety or pallets to please! Pick from diverse items such as sweet and sour chicken, Caesar Salad, rotisserie chicken, or even paninis and sushi! Don’t forget to check out the yummy treats in the bakery case either! Bonus: This place is open for breakfast too!

Blue Man Group at Universal Orlando CityWalk – Now More WOW

whatsnew_blueman_wow

After a busy day at the parks you may want to relax and bit and head to CityWalk. There is only one thing I can think of that you should not miss at CityWalk.. Blue Man Group! I saw this show in February and going into it I wasn’t all that thrilled, I thought it would be weird and boring, not true! This show is amazing. From the moment the lights go out it is non-stop action and fun. I would highly recommend this show if you have tweens and teens in the family, they will absolutely love it.

The show has been revamped for this summer and Blue Man Group has taken their indescribable live celebration of art, technology, and music to a whole new level at Universal Orlando Resort. Forget what you know,  that was then and this is wow. Experience the wonder of Blue Man Group with incredible new performances, astounding new music and an all-new stage. It’s science, it’s laughter, it’s that creative urge you feel inside and want to explore. Become part of the new Blue Man Group show from the minute you step inside the theater.

Disney’s WARP book review

warp

Eoin Colfer, author of the internationally best-selling Artemis Fowl books, launches bran new WARP series.

The reluctant assassin- the highly anticipated first book in the WARP series- is available today in print and digital.

WARP stands for “Witness Anonymous Relocation Program” and boy is it as cool as it seems! The book centers on Riley a teen orphan. I really like that aspect of the book and the Victorian London setting. The craziness of this book just adds to the awesome factor. It is slightly dark so I wouldn’t recommend for anyone under the age of 11 or so simply because it might be a little too much for them.  Eoin is known for his Artemis Fowl series which I have yet to read but after this book I might just have to check it out!

First Full Trailer for Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Agents of SHIELD

On Sunday night during the season finale of ‘Once Upon a Time’, Marvel gave us our first look at Joss Whedon and Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ TV series. It was a quick thirty seconds, but it definitely wet my appetite for what’s to come. Now, ABC has released a full three minute trailer for the series, which takes us into what happens after the events of ‘The Avengers’. The best part about all of this, other than that the show looks great, is that Coulson lives again. Clark Gregg returns as the fan favorite character. Just how, we don’t know yet, but knowing Nick Fury is a the master of lies, it doesn’t seem farfetched that he might have faked the death of his right hand man just to get The Avengers to assemble. This is all speculation on my part, but I could definitely see it playing out that way.

Are you excited for ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? Let me know in the comments below, only here at Chip and Company, and hit the jump to check out the trailer for the series, that will air on Tuesday nights at 8pm on ABC.

Top 5 Ways Princess Leia is a Disney Princess

leia

Ever since Disney purchased LucasFilm and announced upcoming Star Wars films, Disney fans are beginning to consider Princess Leia as the newest Disney princess; and after Merida’s Coronation and  2013 Star Wars Weekends beginning this week, I got to thinking that Leia really does deserve to be one of those royal ladies.

Now I know what you’re thinking. Princess Leia doesn’t exactly generate thoughts about cute, woodland creatures, ball gowns, and sweet, romantic ballads; but Princess Leia is more like the Disney Princesses than you might think! In fact, I’m going to prove it in my Top 5 Ways Princess Leia is a Disney Princess.

5. Lost in the Forest-Have you ever noticed how most Disney Princesses always end up in the woods or a forest? How about the fact that adorable woodland creatures always find them and help them save the day? Consider Snow White, Pocahontas, Sleeping Beauty… Yeah, you get the idea. Princess Leia is no exception! In Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Leia gets lost in the Endor Forest after wrecking her speederbike. Soon after, the adorable forest Ewoks emerge to help her and later save the day. Point proven.

Express Pass at Universal Orlando

Incredible Hulk Coaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure.
Universal Ride Lines

Universal Express Passes allow you to skip the regular standby line  and use a special Express Pass line at most of Universal Orlando’s attractions. With the Express Pass you show your pass and get in the special express pass marked line, no need to return at a certain time for the attraction. The Express Pass is however an extra ticketed cost not included in the price of your theme park ticket.  I would highly suggest if you are visiting Universal during Peak Summer Months or Holidays that you purchase the Express Pass.

There are a few different Express Pass options to choose from. The most popular is the 2 park Universal Express Pass,  it allows you to use your pass in both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, it is valid for use (1) time at each participating show/attraction. If you are only planning on visiting 1 park on the day of your visit then you can purchase a 1-park express pass for either Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure, also valid for (1) time use at each participating show/attraction. The Express Pass Unlimited is good for both parks and allows you to bypass the regular lines an unlimited amount of times on the day you visit.
