Is George Clooney coming to Orlando? Disney’s “Tomorrowland” will start shooting  in Orlando this coming fall.

Oscar-winner Clooney and Hugh Laurie (“House”) are starring in the sci-fi film.

The director is Brad Bird, whose credits include “The Incredibles” and “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.” The credited writers are Bird, Jeff Jensen and Damon Lindelof (“Lost”).

The filmmakers have been quiet about the plot, but Bird and Lindelof did show an old box marked “1952” at this year’s D23 Expo.

Tomorrowland is the name of a section of the Magic Kingdom. So filming the movie in Orlando would make sense.

Disney didn’t specifics. However they did give the film synopsis: “Bound by a shared destiny, a teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor embark on a mission to unearth the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory.”

The movie is scheduled for release in December 2014.

The movie started filming in Canada but will move to Orlando for several weeks.

The cast includes Britt Robertson (“Under the Dome”), Tim McGraw (“The Blind Side”) and Judy Greer (“Two and a Half Men”).

I have been saying for years they need to film more movies here in Central Florida!

Pirates of the Caribean Isles of War
Pirates of the Caribean Isles of War

Pirates of the Caribbean Isles of War 4

Disney Interactive announced today Pirates of the Caribbean: Isles of War, a new, multiplayer, online Facebook experience. Players engage in real-time naval combat against other players and AI pirates as they build a reputation to be the greatest pirate in all of the Caribbean. Joined by Jack Sparrow, Davy Jones, and Hector Barbossa, players will build their base, expand their fleet and rule the high seas.

Finding adventure on the high seas is a dangerous, but possibly prosperous, proposition. Victory in combat will bring spoils, while defeat will force the player’s fleet to return to base for repairs, although a ship will never be truly destroyed. As players build stronger bases and fleets, more powerful enemies with greater rewards can be unlocked and discovered by truly intrepid pirates.

Features:

  • Build multiple fleets and battle enemies in five-on-five, real-time open world, naval combat action.
  • Explore the open Caribbean world to encounter a wide variety of enemies and allies.
  • Construct and upgrade buildings to gain more resources, better ships, more types of officers and stronger base defenses.
  • Gather resources through plundering enemies, trading with neutral towns and other players, and harvesting from a base.
  • Engage with other players by building alliances or competing in massive player vs. player battles.

Top 5 Underrated Magic Kingdom Attractions

P1080776

Swiss

The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is filled with tons of great attractions. So many, in fact, that guests can often miss some great, but lesser known attractions simply because there is so much to do. Let’s take at look at our top 5 underrated Magic Kingdom attractions.

5. Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse in Adventureland is a recreation of the treehouse the family built following a shipwreck in the film Swiss Family Robinson. If you have an interest in treehouses or have seen the movie, which I do recommend, this attraction is definitely for you! This elaborate treehouse also features great views of the Magic Kingdom.

4. Tom Sawyer Island, designed by Walt Disney himself,  is a great attraction for kids. The island is includes a giant waterwheel, a barrel bridge, Injun Joe’s Cave, a fort, and more. The island is also filled with many different paths to explore. Guests are sure find adventure throughout the entire island

3. The Liberty Square Riverboat is a great attraction to help you slow down and enjoy the sights of the Magic Kindgom. Aboard the Liberty Belle, guests will cruise around Tom Sawyer Island on the Rivers of America. The journey includes an early American settlement, a Native American village, Fort Langhorn, spectacular views of Big Thunder Mountain, and more. Be sure to have your camera out and ready!

2.  The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is one of the best attractions in Tomorrowland. On this relaxing cruise around Tomorrowland, you will get a look inside some of the other attractions including Space Mountain. You can even see Walt Disney’s original model for Epcot! Be sure to have your camera out for this attraction as the views from the TTA are amazing!

1. The Carousel Of Progress, also located in Tomorrowland, is another attraction designed by Walt Disney. This attraction was originally created for the 1964 New York World’s Fair. It tells the story of an American family throughout the 20th century and the affect progress has on their daily life. In addition to having a great audioanimatronic show, the theater for the attraction actually rotates during the show! After each scene, the audience is rotated to the next room for another scene in the show. This attraction is one my personal favorites and it was also said to be Walt Disney’s favorite attraction.
