In anticipation of Hurricane Helene’s landfall in Florida, Walt Disney World has made the decision to cancel Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party scheduled for Thursday, September 26th.

With the hurricane expected to bring adverse weather conditions to the region, the park has decided to prioritize guest safety and experience. As a result, all tickets for the September 26th party will be refunded.

However, as a gesture to those who were looking forward to their visit, Magic Kingdom will extend its operating hours until 8 p.m., instead of the originally scheduled 6 p.m. closing time.

The official statement from Walt Disney World emphasizes their commitment to providing a great experience for guests, acknowledging the impact of the forecasted weather on outdoor entertainment offerings.

Hurricane Helene, which strengthened from a tropical storm earlier today, is projected to make landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida on Thursday. Disney’s other water park, Blizzard Beach, is already closed for its annual refurbishment.

The decision to close Typhoon Lagoon for the entire day comes as Tropical Storm Helene is expected to bring hazardous conditions to Central Florida, including the Walt Disney World area. The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the region, anticipating heavy rain, strong winds, and potential flooding. With wind gusts of up to 60 mph and several inches of rainfall predicted, outdoor operations like Typhoon Lagoon are deemed unsafe.

While Orlando isn’t currently in the direct path, tropical storm conditions are expected to impact the area. If you’re headed to the parks later this week, it’s essential to know Universal Orlando’s Severe Weather policy to help you adjust plans with ease.

Universal Orlando Resort™ has a comprehensive Severe Weather Policy that allows guests to reschedule or cancel their vacations without penalty under certain conditions. If a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center, or a state of emergency is declared for Orlando or your home, within seven days of your arrival, you’re eligible to make changes to your vacation package, hotel reservations, or park tickets without facing cancellation or change fees. However, airline tickets booked as part of a package may still incur fees, depending on the airline’s policies.

If you’ve been a fan of Star-Lord’s intergalactic antics, you might remember his earlier visits to EPCOT during the Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live! concert series. This show, held at the America Gardens Theatre in 2018 and 2019, had Star-Lord and Gamora leading fans on a musical journey through his epic Awesome Mix soundtracks. The show was slated to make a comeback in 2020, but the galaxy had other plans. Now, it seems Star-Lord is trading in his mic for a meet-and-greet that’s bound to be as legendary as the Guardians’ escape from the Kyln.

Tropical Storm Helene Expected to Hit Florida as Major Hurricane

Central Florida on High Alert as Tropical Storm Helene Nears

While the center of Tropical Storm Helene is not projected to directly hit Central Florida, the region is bracing for significant impacts from the approaching system. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tropical storm warning for all of Central Florida, underscoring the potential for heavy rain, flooding, gusty winds, and even isolated tornadoes.

Tropical moisture is already increasing in the region, with outer rain bands expected to move northward on Wednesday. This could lead to flooding in low-lying and urban areas. While the severe weather threat on Wednesday remains isolated, residents should be prepared for rain and a few storms that could potentially produce tornadoes.

As Helene approaches Florida and makes landfall in the Big Bend area, the threat of severe weather for Central Florida will intensify. Disney World and Universal Orlando Release Statements on Tropical Storm Helene

Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando have both released statements regarding the impending arrival of Tropical Storm Helene, which has triggered a Tropical Storm Warning for Orange and Osceola counties.

Walt Disney World Resort has assured guests that it is currently operating under normal conditions, but is keeping a close watch on the storm’s path and prioritizing the safety of its guests and cast members.

Universal Orlando echoed similar sentiments, stating that park operations and hours remain unchanged for now, but they are actively monitoring the weather situation and will provide updates as needed.
