Wednesday’s announcement of the Fall 2014 release of the Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes brings all new Power Discs. The new set of hexagonal and circular Power Discs will add so much to your game play. The Hexagonal Power discs have some incredible new weapons, tons of new vehicles and allow you to customize the sky and terrain. The Circular discs add costumes, area of effect attacks and allow you to team up. I can’t wait to try out the costume and vehicles. One of my favorites is LOLA, the hover car from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And what about the being able to see through Iron Man’s helmet or Captain America’s World War II outfit and shield. I can’t wait to play Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Super Heroes.

Kristin Chenoweth will be Maleficent in the “Descendants”

Kristin Chenoweth has been cast to play, my favorite villain, Maleficent in the Disney’s original movie “Descendants”. Her on-screen daughter (Mal) will be played by Dove Cameron, who stars on the the Disney Channel show “Liv and Maddie“. Here is some more of the casting lineup:

Jay, the son of Jafar will be played by: Booboo Stewart
Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen will be played by: Sofia Carson
Carlos, the son of Cruella De Vil will be played by: Cameron Boyce
Ben, the son of Belle and the Beast will be played by: Mitchell Hope

In the movie, the teenage children of some Disney villains are sent to the kingdom’s best prep school along with the children of the Fairy Godmother, Mulan, and Rapunzel. Needless to say it will be the usual good versus evil.

Kenny Ortega, who is known for High School Musical, is going to direct the film.

This movie is set to premiere in 2015.

Star Wars Journeys: The Phantom Menace brings the action to Star Wars fans

This weekend my boys and I had the chance to test out the new Star Wars Journeys: A Phantom Menace app which is now available for purchase. Or I should say my boys had the chance to test out the app, as they would not hand over our iPad once they begain playing and I haven’t seen much of them since. (Although I’ve heard plenty of Pod Races coming from near them.)

With this game, players can read along while they listen to the story of Episode I. Each page of the story features a 180-degree parallax view that you can explore by tilting you iPad or by swiping across the screen. The graphics, as one would expect from Star Wars, are very impressive. Tapping on characters, ships and object causes them to move or speak and allows players to unlock their profile. Each profile then shows a picture gives you information about that item or person. My kids worked through the story fairly quickly and while they enjoyed it, they were most excited about the Pod Racing.

Players also have the chance to compete in Pod Races beginning with Anakin’s podracer with the ability to earn more high tech pod racers. Players are given the choice of different style races including time trials, knock out races and quick races. You can even customize your ship’s color and upgrade with points earned from earlier races. It took a little while, and a number of destroyed racers, for my kids to get the hang of the races, but once they got going, they were hooked. They love the chance to upgrade and have loved racing their ships. Winning races also unlocks more information about each character in the story.

More apps will be coming out as we approach the release of Star Wars Episode VII. Those include:

Star Wars Journeys: A Phantom Menace is available for purchase now. At $6.99 it’s a pretty high price for a game, but my kids loved it and are already asking when the next game will be available!

Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World” gets a Premiere Date

Disney Channel finally announced a premiere date for the much anticipated “Boy Meets World” spin-off, “Girl Meets World“. The big day is Friday, June 27.

It will air on the network at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT. The network will start things off early by making the premiere episode available to verified viewers on WATCH Disney Channel, which is its streaming site, starting May 21.

“Girl Meets World” will have a regular time slot at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT beginning July 11.

ABC’s popular sitcom “Boy Meets World” aired from 1993 through 2000 as part of the network’s popular TGIF segment. Who doesn’t remember Cory and Topanga?

Now the infamous Cory and Topanga are the parents of their very own teenager daughter named Riley (Rowan Blanchard), who the new show is now centered around.

You will see some old favorites like, William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Rider Strong (Cory BFF Shawn Hunter), William Russ and Betsy Randle (Cory’s parents), Lee Norris (Minkus!) and Danny McNulty (Harley Keiner). How cool is that?

Disney Channel’s original movie “Zapped” will air before “Girl Meets World” makes it’s big debut.

Disney Quick Tips – Plan A Meeting Place

Disney parks are big, and if you become separated from your group (whether on purpose or not) it can be difficult to meet up with them again. Before you arrive at the parks each day, it’s a good idea to pick out spot to meet up should you become separated. You should pick a specific spot everyone will be able to find easily such as City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. or the entrance to The Land pavilion at Epcot.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: ‘We have cell phones. We’ll just call or text if we get separated.’ While this sounds like a great idea, it’s still a good idea to pick a meeting place ahead of time. If your phone battery happens to die, as mine did a few years ago, you could end up spending a good bit of time wandering around the park searching for your group. When this happened to me, I spent a while looking for the rest of my family and even missed out on a Fastpass. Had we chosen a meeting spot at the beginning of the day, rather than relying on our phones to work, all that time wandering around the park could have been spent enjoying attractions.

Ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: POV Video

Everyone is excited about the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in the new Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. This new ride is opening at the end of May. If you are coming down for the 24 hours at Magic Kingdom, you will get a chance to ride this new roller coaster.

Yesterday our agency was invited to take a sneak peek of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We got to ride it several times during the day and evening. It was a completely different experience both times. It was amazing! What I loved most about the attraction was the whole experience. Even the queue line was interactive with activities to keep you busy, while you waited in line. For the guest that take advantage of FastPass+, they will miss the interactive queue line. Just something to keep in mind on your next visit. Let’s take a ride on the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train! Enjoy!

Walt Disney Studios announces the world premiere of “Million Dollar Arm” on Tuesday, May 6 at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Stars from the film will be there, like Jon Hamm, Aasif Mandvi, Bill Paxton, Alan Arkin, Suraj Sharma, Madhur Mittal, Lake Bell, Pitobash and Bar Paly, as will Director Craig Gillespie, Producers Mark Ciardi, Gordon Gray and Joe Roth and Executive Producers Palak Patel, Kevin Halloran, Bill Simmons and Connor Schell.

Sports fan? Well there will also be athletes like Barry Sanders, Dave Winfield, Steve Garvey, Rollie Fingers, David Wells, Don Newcombe, Clyde Wright, Barry Sanders, Ken Landreaux, Kenny Lofton and Eric Davis, among others will be walking to “green carpet”.

The finalists competing in the Million Dollar Arm Pitching Contest will have the chance to throw 3 pitches on Hollywood Boulevard prior to the premiere screening and possibly walk away with the $1 million grand prize. The contest, a competition for amateur baseball pitchers from around the country presented by Subway Restaurants, began with preliminary rounds earlier this week at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disneyland Resort in California and the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day at the Tribeca Family Festival in New York City.

Courtesy of Delta Airlines, the fastest contestants from each location will be flown in for the finals and any eligible finalist who throws one 100 mph strike will become a potential winner of the grand prize. Following the contest the finalists will attend the premiere screening as VIP guests and will receive a $500 gift package from Rawlings, a $250 gift certificate from Under Armour, two tickets each to the ESPY Awards and the winning pitcher – the one with the fastest speed, will get the opportunity to be discovered and sign a contract with JB Bernstein’s management company, Seven Figures Management.

ESPN’s Baseball Tonight will also be broadcasting live from the premiere with host Karl Ravech, ESPN analyst and Baseball Hall of Famer Barry Larkin and ESPN MLB Insider Tim Kurkjian beginning at 10 p.m. ET. The hour-long program will include interviews with the film’s talent and filmmakers as well as other notable guests in attendance. Now in its 25th season, Baseball Tonight is ESPN’s signature Major League Baseball highlights, news and information studio show. The Baseball Tonight crew – Ravech, Larkin and ESPN analyst Curt Schilling – along with Sports Center anchor Steve Levy, have cameo appearances in the film. Disney Infinity 2.0 welcomes Marvel Super Heroes to the family. In a huge media event in Hollywood, California, Disney Interactive confirmed the latest characters available for Disney Infinity. The Marvel Super Heroes which include, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk and Hawkeye will be available this Fall and are fully compatible with all the other characters and systems in the original Disney Infinity.

Disney Interactive shared how Disney Infinity 2.0 will allow players to create all new adventures. Using the Marvel figures to activate original Play Sets, players will be able to play as any one of over 20 Marvel characters and have fun exploring new missions, battles and of course, saving the world from total destruction.

New upgrades to the Toy Box and Play sets include the opportunity to customize and play with any in-game characters from Disney Infinity. You can re-create your favorite comic book stories or make up your own using hundreds of Marvel items, locations, characters and props. The Toy Box now has new vehicles, accessories and all new combat and destruction scenes. Many of the Marvel Super Heroes can cross back and forth between the Play Sets. The new Toy Box mode gives players an even easier way to create and share. The new Auto Creator tool can help build worlds faster than ever with new worker characters that build worlds based on your preferences.

There are over 80 new Toy Box Game Discs coming with the 2.0 version. The new pyramid shaped discs allow players to customize games and use Toy Box toys and ANY of your favorite characters to complete your missions. The new set of circular discs will add costumes, area of effects attacks and allow for team ups of characters. The hexagonal discs, add new vehicles (including LOLA, Agents of Shield hover car), weapons and sky and terrain customization. New discs will give players a whole new world of fun and gaming opportunities.

Disney Store will celebrate the grand opening of its newly-designed store at Menlo Park in Edison, New Jersey. A premier retail destination, Disney Store offers a unique, high quality selection of Disney, Marvel and Star Wars product while delivering a magical and immersive shopping experience through its Cast Members, who are dedicated to making every Store visit memorable.

Unique to the Menlo Park location, as guests enter the store and look above, they will see a customized skyline incorporating local landmarks, classic Disney features and magical storytelling moments. The Pixie Dust Trail guides guests through “Storytelling Neighborhoods” featured on either side of the path, highlighting favorite Disney, Marvel and Star Wars characters. The Disney Princess Neighborhood is home to the Disney Princess Castle , bringing the stories of the brave, kind and adventurous Disney Princess characters to life through costumes, accessories, dolls and more.

Disney Store’s signature Magical Trees line the Pixie Dust Trail, and are an integral part of the immersive storytelling experience, with iconic characters hidden throughout the overlapping patterns of blue foliage. The Disney Store Theatre is found at the end of the Pixie Dust Trail, where guests can choose from an ever-changing library of over 50 different clips consisting of Disney, Marvel and Star Wars film trailers, film clips, music videos, classic animation and more.

One lucky child attending the grand opening will “unlock imagination” and officially open the Menlo Park Disney Store location at 10 a.m. on May 3. This signature opening ceremony will take place every day, giving guests an opportunity to participate in an unforgettable Disney Store experience.

Additionally, the first 500 guests to attend the grand opening celebration will receive a free gift, and from noon to 4 p.m. a Meet and Greet with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will take place in Center Court, with an opportunity for guests to take photos with the characters*.

New Shopping and Dining Coming to the New Disney Springs

You may have heard that Downtown Disney is being transformed in to Disney Springs. It is a transformation that will take a few years. The new Disney Springs will have double the retail and offer innovative new dining options, Walt Disney World guests continue to enjoy more than 70 themed and immersive shopping, dining and entertainment venues day and night.

For summer 2014, immersive outdoor entertainment will bring Downtown Disney to life, with nine different acts scheduled nightly – more than 30 live performances daily, a free highlight of the Downtown Disney experience.

And special events like Car Masters Weekend (June 14-15) puts the spotlight on classic and exotic cars for Father’s Day weekend, and includes character experiences featuring favorite Disney*Pixar “Cars” characters.

New this summer for Downtown Disney:

Two new Starbucks locations – a storefront at Downtown Disney West Side and a kiosk near World of Disney at Downtown Disney Marketplace. Look for the familiar green roof at the West Side flagship Starbucks, part of the company’s commitment to be environmentally conscious. The design includes a covered patio overlooking the waterfront and a fireplace, as well as the new Clover Bar, featuring special reserve coffees brewed to order. A high-tech screen behind the Clover Bar will show images from coffee regions around the globe, and a new Human Connection Wall will include large touch-screen monitors that allow guests to use their finger to draw images.

Marketplace Co-Op will serve as a testing space for new Disney retail concepts, shops and products with six boutiques under one roof:

Beautifully Disney – A beauty destination for woman featuring make-up, fragrance and beauty accessories;

Cherry Tree Lane – Accessories for the sophisticated woman with a passion for scarves, shoes, bags and jewelry;

D-Tech on Demand – A place to personalize and customize your own electronic accessories;

The Trophy Room – Vintage-inspired, lifestyle sports apparel and collectibles;

Disney Centerpiece – Home products offering a splash of Disney in room furnishings, textiles and everyday ware;

Zoey and Pickles – A girls’ destination with the latest trends.

Just in time for World Cup, United World of Soccer opens in Late May at Downtown Disney West Side. The shop offers favorite team jerseys, sports gear, cleats, World Cup apparel and accessories.

The Happy Hound at Downtown Disney Marketplace offers custom accessories and dog tags, toys and more for four-legged friends.

Food Truck Park, opening later this summer, will serve as a permanent home to the four Disney Food Trucks and will be situated between Bongos Cuban Café and the new Starbucks at Downtown Disney West Side.

Even with expansion work underway, guests still can stroll from Downtown Disney West Side to The Marketplace. While shopping, playing and dining this summer, they will see signs of exciting things to come captured in colorful, mural-sized artistic renderings of the new Disney Springs destination throughout the expansion site.

Disney Springs – What’s Next

The largest expansion in Downtown Disney history, Disney Springs will provide even more opportunities for guests to relax and enjoy themselves.
When completed in 2016, Disney Springs will double the shopping, dining and entertainment experiences, with an eclectic and contemporary mix from Disney and other noteworthy brands. West Side will be enhanced with a series of new elevated spaces that provide both shade and an overlook to the activity below.

The first phase of roadwork construction has begun, with lane closures scheduled as much as possible for off-peak hours to minimize impacts to the guest experience. Buena Vista Drive will expand from seven to 10 lanes, with a dedicated bus lane. Two parking garages and two pedestrian bridges also will be added, as well as an I-4 Interchange that will offer direct access to and from Downtown Disney/Disney Springs.

Disney Springs is expected to create an estimated 1,200 construction jobs and nearly 4,000 operational roles, providing new business opportunities and generating significant tax revenue for Central Florida.

Disney Will be Spending Another $800 Million in Shanghai Disneyland

Disney has decided to invest another $800 million into the budget for Shanghai Disneyland. This brings the total budget up to a whopping $5.5 billion. That is the largest foreign investment in China ever.

Disney CEO Bob Iger said the decision to invest more money in the Shanghai Disney Resort was brought on by predictions that travel in China may increase drastically.

“We’ve been impressed with the growth of China’s economy, especially the rapid expansion of the middle class and the significant increase in travel and tourism,” Iger said in a statement.

The additional money will go to more rides and attractions at the park and the surrounding area.

It took two decades for Disney and the Chinese government to come to an agreement on plans for Shanghai Disney, according to the New York Times. It was very important for China to not have any American influence at the park.. We all know Main Street U.S.A. but at Shanghai Disneyland they will have Mickey Avenue instead.

Did you know that Disney operates quite a few English language schools in China? I had no idea! They are taught using Disney characters and stories.

Shanghai Disney Resort will be Disney’s first park and resort in China’s mainland. The Shanghai Disneyland Resort is set to open in 2015.
